      Listening to music!

I prefer to listen lounge, ambient or chill out music, because it really helps me to keep my focus and stay positive in the same time. If you work in office where are more people, then use headphones, it will really helps you!

I will suggest you Cafe del Mar, Blank and Jones or Jean Michel Jarre!

    Manjeet,

Every person has his own best practices to stay focused and productive when working online. Let me share you mine. Allow me not to go into detail though.

    1. I set my monthly sales quota. If my monthly sales quota is $6,000.00, all my actions will be pointing towards that end-goal. All plans that I make are to support that end-goal. Steven Covey said, "Begin with an end in mind."

    2. Come up with your daily, weekly, and monthly to-do list - and be genuinely honest to follow them. I have a whiteboard beside me. I write down the things that I need to check, the people I need to contact with, etc. Every day, I update that board. I also have lots of sticky notes (built-in feature of Windows 7). Even if laptop shuts down unintentionally, my notes are still there. I use sticky notes instead of a notepad.

    3. Like what you do.
This is a simple rule of thumb. You can't be focused on something that you don't want to do. So when you do something, make sure that you're not half-hearted.

There's still a lot more than these 3 but this is what I can come up with as I am already hungry for my dinner. lol

Something I learned from Eben Pagan is to take clean breaks. Meaning spending 1 -2 hours working and then have a break away from the comp.

That's a pretty sweet idea. I do my best to use evernote, but all I keep doing is adding things to do and ideas, but I never go back to it :/

Here's an incredibly simple task and time management system I'm using and it works great:

    1. Write down all the things you want to get done for the day.

    2. Assign a specific time to each task.

    3. Select a task, start a timer, and focus on nothing but accomplishing that task.

You might also want to measure what is the time you need to accomplish a task working at
maximum performance and not allocate any more than that to a task. One of the biggest
problems that wastes time is so called "Parkinson's law" which states that work expands to fill
the time allocated for. By allocating only the minimum necessary time, you negate its effects.

Last thing I do on Friday is map out my schedule for the next week. I switch the tasks around so that I am never doing one single thing for too long and I don't get bored.

This way I have an exact amount of work I am expecting to finish each day, if you have a decent work ethic you will feel bad if you get behind and focus more.

    If all that fails... Adderall.

Taking breaks as Davidsu and Jonathan 2.0 said is very important.

I would also encourage you to release any stress that gets in the way of focusing. Apply the first half of this video. You'll likely notice it will be easier to focus:

A way to stay focused is to keep your goal in front of you when you are working on your computer.

There are so many distractions and while surfing online you can easily get caught into a list of "related" activities which don't have aything to do with your main objective.

Make a to do list and keep it in front of you while you are working. Sounds simple, but not many people do this.

Also as Jason Choi said in the above post, take care of your stress level. This will help you stay focused.

One tip is always decide on what you will do the next day before you retire. This saves you much time the next day you just dive right in. And exercise routines help you to focus for longer.

Sometimes when working online, it can get mundane sitting there alone.

You can listen too some music you enjoy in the backround but I would suggest working in bunches.

What I mean by that is do maybe an 1 and a half hours on the computer, then take a 20-30 min break. This is so you can stay refreshed and alert. I find myself not as sharp if I am sitting on the computer for 5 hours strait for example.

Go hard and take your breaks.

Before you go to bed, write down your 3 Most Important Tasks (MIT) for the next day.

Do those 3 MIT's as soon as you wake up. Do nothing else until they are done.

    I got up at 4:00 a.m., did my 3 MIT's, and was finished by 6:30 a.m.

Everything else I do today is gravy.

Consistency is key. As odd as it may sounds, I write down my goals every single morning when I wake up. Even though I know them all in my head, writing them down is a good way to keep my goals on track and maintain a fresh motivational mindset. This way I start the day with the intention of getting things done to get closer to achieving my goals.

Firstly shut down the social side of social media and other browsers of distraction! Write a list and don't deviate your focus until each item is complete.

I prefer to create my workplace environment in a manner that will enhance efficiency:

    Clear work space
    Motivation recordings playing
My goals/vision board/targets easily accessible and visual
    Concentrated focus with appropriate breaks!

  • Health and fitness is very important to me, and I find I am most productive with my work on days where I am in optimal health, where I've had a good nights sleep, eaten healthy nutritious food, and had a 40-60 minute session at the gym.

However as others have mentioned having an environment conducive of being productive, free from distractions, free from clutter definitely helps. Something I'll need to work on I guess is setting more realistic goals, and focus on the process itself rather than the end destination.

Set small deadlines for each task throughout the day. A task will expand to the time you assign it, similar to how a gas expands to the volume of its container.

If you set yourself micro-deadlines for each task, you will efficiently complete them one by one.

Furthermore, complete tasks one by one. Multitasking is inefficient and you will end up with a bunch of half finished tasks.

Have your key priorities outlined and specific for the next day ready before going to bed.

This allows your focus to be set and specific the moment you wake up as you don't have to try and remember or spend time trying to organize your day. This also allows distractions to be overcome!

Focus on each task till complete!

    The day before:
Make a realistic checklist of everything I can/ need to get done.

Turn the T.V off (this has helped me stay productive and not get sucked into staring at the tube for hours).

Think about the bragging rights I can then have to make me feel better about myself.

To stay focused: Go to youtube, find concentration binaural's and listen to it in the background of what ever your doing. It works!

Try your best to excel yourself in whatever you do..try to be consistent...Instead of working hard, try to work smart..have a goal and do what you love..love what you do.. Make your job a passion.. and surround yourself with motivated people or A players..they can encourage you and most importantly stay away from those who try to pull you down to their level by saying discouraging words just to make you feel bad and stop moving into a positive direction..

Well, depends where is your work... I will share my recipe and you will decide what to choose.

I am also working online, but my job is not in the office with people. I am working from home, so I have more space to arrange my things. The first thing that you should do is to decrease the hours of sleeping and be sure to get up every day 10 or 10:30 am.

Also, listening music like lounge, ambient or chillout can really help you to keep your focus. Don't forget to drink coffee or tea (Green tea because is full with caffeine). Caffeine is very important thing for you brain.

    Cheers!
