Does regular exercise improve the quality of your life?

I try and exercise regularly but have such a hard time being consistent.

I found that when I am working out regularly I am more productive and more confident then when I'm sleeping more hours.

One of my goals is to really make it part of my daily routine to the point it becomes habit. I am really trying to get a routine together to balance my life.

I need to put in the hours of work to get the results of income and I need to exercise to stay strong and healthy while making time for friends and family. I anticipate it will take at least a year or two to get something down consistently.

Your habits are everything and they are the hardest things to change. But successful habits will guarantee you successful results.

What do you think? Anyone experiencing something similar..

You are not alone. I have been trying to exercise consistently, but always end up slacking off. Exercise improves how I feel and how I look if I stick to it long enough. The only way we get anywhere in life is being consistent, at least this is what I tell myself.

    Best Wishes,

Being sore is the best feeling in the world. If you don't already have that mindset you need to adopt it. It means that you did your workout right, that your muscles achieved the necessary microtears that lead to growth.

At normal levels, you should be healed up and rested within 48 hours. If you aren't yet push through the pain and force your body to adapt. It will, it is quite the efficient machine when taken care of.

It get easier. Getting so43 happens even when you're in great shape, but your body handles it better then. Stick with lighter exercises until your body adapts. Good luck.

      Get fit it's more fun!

Juan don't train to hard too quick. It just hurts your body and when you sore you don't wanna train.

Take it slow at first and when you start getting fitter and your body starts getting used to the excersize, then you train harder.

Slow and easy does it. Consistency is the secret.

In six months you will be amazed at how you look and feel. Guaranteed!

If you are consistent in your exercise routine, you will find yourself consistent with others things in life you consider important to attaining your goals. And as such the habits that are a key ingredient in your success will easily be formed.

And as Jim Rohn once said: "Everything matters, it all matters."

It takes certain elements to be in the state of consistency. Sometimes circumstances wont allow for things to be so smooth. Speed bumps can come along the way and throw a monkey wrench in your routine.

I am getting to the point where things can slow down and run a bit smoother. Allowing me to develop the habits I want to form the person I am becoming.

For me its hard because right now anyways. But it will get easier as time goes on.

I do indeed take supplements in addition to my nutrient in-take of food. The main reasons are for additional proteins. You should be consuming 1gram of protein per pound of desired body weight.

Depending on your body type you might need double the proteins. Protiens are what makes up muscle tissue. Carbs and Fats will vary on body type. You have ectomorph, mesomorph, and endomorph.

I am a mesomorph so I need double the proteins and good cards and fats to develop a bigger physic. My goal is to grow muscle not weight loss.

Amino acids, vitamins, fish oils are some great supplements to take for anyone if you have an active exercise routine. Its down to a science now days. Their are so many different products and some are a waste of money but if you know what to take you can shed body fat or gain muscle.

If you want to lose body fast their are so many products that are cutters, a pill to burn off your excess fat. Take the pills, multi vitamins, and eat more healthy while you exercise just 3 days a week to start and you will slim down. Just some basics.

I actually just got back into exercising and it was hard at first since I've been out of shape for a while now. But once I got used to it and my muscles weren't as sore, it really is a good feeling knowing that I am able to keep up with my routine without getting too tired. I also feel more energized than before and with more energy, I can pretty much do anything!

That's my favorite part about working out. It never ends, there is no finish line. You have to give 110% all the time or not only do you not get better, you get worse. It creates the ultimate metaphor for anything worth working towards in life. Say, business for example .

Doing push ups and sit ups every morning as soon as you wake up will change your life. It gives you a boost in the morning that is equivalent to a cup of coffee and makes you instantly alert. Also, after three weeks you will begin to see noticeable changes in your physique. I highly recommend doing this - you don't necessarily need to lift weights at the gym to get in shape.

If you exercise without supplements, you are asking for trouble. Exercise uses energy. In other words, you are creating buring within the body. Burning is oxidation. If you don't use antioxidants, you are asking for trouble. You also need supplements, as you have increased nutritional needs due to your exercise, such as perspiration leeches minerals.

Does exercise make a difference? Do you want to feel better, look better, and think better? Then...exercise.

I believe exercise makes a tremendous difference in quality of life!

It's pretty hard to get motivated to do anything, whether it be work or play, if you physically have a difficult time getting up off the sofa.

For sure exercise gets the heart pumping keeping that muscle strong and the blood flowing keeping things running smoothly.

I love the feeling of being "PUMPED" just feeling swollen muscle pushing the skin. When you start feeling that after working the muscle group, then you know you are getting their and starting to grow. I need to get that feeling again.

Certainly you can gain excellent physical benefits to a regular
exercise routine of some kind. And the exercise can be as simple
and rewarding as a daily walk, where you can give yourself a break
from work and recharge your batteries. But even a daily walk
involves you doing so on a regular "daily" basis. And establishing
a habit may take some weeks before it becomes ingrained and
you will seek to do it.
And of course, besides the physical benefits of an exercise habit,
there can also be attendant psychological and emotional improvements.

All the above posts are so true. However not only is it good for your general health it is beneficial to your brain. An activity such as walking increases blood circulation to your brain while also increasing oxygen and glucose to it as well.

As opposed to running, walking doesn't take up the extra glucose and oxygen, so when you walk, you are essentially oxygenating your brain.

Yes it does. All you need is 30 minutes 3 times a week to see an improvement in your health.

I say this as a fitness professional with over 25 years under my belt.

Find activities that YOU enjoy. Don't start with things that you dread or hate. Find things such as walking or cycling or dancing or whatever you enjoy to get you started.

    Just 30 minutes 3 times a week!

    Just to see some benefits.

I know that physical exercise improves the quality of my life, when I do it. Like some of the other posts above, I have a hard time actually doing it, despite the knowledge that it will improve my health, my concentration, my family life and my general well-being. I am by no means a couch potato - I walk to and from my office each day, which is a 15 minute walk each way. So I do get 30 minutes in some form, but not in strenuous activity or varied activities. I need to step it up.

Exercising certainly does make you feel great! When you exercise, the brain sends a natural 'feel good' chemical to the body so you get this 'high' I've experienced this natural 'high' many times has anyone else?
If you're finding hard to strike a balance between the two, work/exercise or simply not finding the time, then simply incorporate exercise in your daily routine,
e.g. Getting off a bus one stop before yours and walking the rest, taking the stairs and not the elevator, walking to the corner shop for milk instead of driving there.

Exercise is not only important to help you lose weight and/or stay in shape but it helps you mentally as well. By that I mean it helps your brain function much better and if you need your brain to help you make a living (much like in the IM landscape), then it behooves you to give yourself an advantage in that regard.

Not only that, I've heard of a few instances where someone is exercising and while they are doing so, they come upon some idea that turns out to be life changing. So yeah, I do believe that exercise can and does improve the quality of your life and in more ways than just making yourself look good at the beach!

Yes, regular physical exercise has almost ineffable benefits. For exercise to benefit you, you neither need to be a great athlete nor involved in competitive sports, but you do need to be disciplined and intense about it.

Oh, and let me tell you: "three days a week" is not good enough. At the least, you need it to be every-other-day. (Mathematically, sometimes that does work out to three days per week, but it will then be four days the following week.) Furthermore, as healthy and beneficial as brisk walking is, it does not count as "exercise" unless you're talking about going for long hike of at least five miles with at least half of those miles being uphill. Raking leaves and gardening are not "exercise", either, although as with common brisk walking both activities are good for you. Yoga is only "exercise" if it's of the "core strength building" kind. So, just don't let yourself get fooled by the "lazy American" notions of exercise.

Then I thought of having just a simple morning run everyday, It took me two weeks before I stop doing it again.

I have the same "problem" as you... Not training regurlarly. It's like you say better to train and sleep less. You need to get your pulse working for about half an hour each day. Your blood will flow faster around in your body and you will get more oxident to your brain. This means you will have more energy and easier to think clear when exercising. But I suppose everyone knows this.. It's not impressive! The impressive is to exercise often

a tip for commiting to exercise : join a sports team of some sorts where you are expected to show up. most towns / cities have amateur leagues and if you join one of them, not only do you get fit having fun (playing a game) you are also a team member and other team members expect you to show up.

so now, if you do not "show up" not only are you letting yourself down, you are letting your team down. This does not have to be an all out "committment", I play rugby for a local amateur club, in the 2nd team, we practice twice a week and play matches on a saturday against other teams in the area. now I have fun playing a game, my mind is not stuck one "having to get fit" and I am answerable to my team if I do not show up. i dare not let them down.. this alone makes me stick to the exercise regime...

I am still trying to get going on my daily exercise routine. I need something sorted out first before I can really get going.

I know it sounds like an excuse and might be but you have to be consistent if your not then your results will not be that good. So I need to make sure I know I can be consistent. I still walk regularly and on occasion, a day or two a week exercise which for me is slacking big time.

I would like to see myself doing some form of exercise daily.

    How about you???

I need to put in the hours of work to get the results of income and I need to exercise to stay strong and healthy while making time for friends and family. I anticipate it will take at least a year or two to get something down consistently.

Your habits are everything and they are the hardest things to change. But successful habits will guarantee you successful results.

What do you think? Anyone experiencing something similar..
Yes, I experienced the same. I am really not good at it though but I tried. At the outset, I still managed to wake up early ( I prefer early workouts than anytime of the day), do my personal routines and go out for a walk. After several turns in our village, I then go in my mini-gym and do some stretching.

After a week of staying healthy, I see good effects like being more positive each day and staying energize the whole day working to earn money. But, sad to say that I didn't pursue that healthy habit. I even didn't reach to a month, funny me

I hope I'll be back on that good habit soon and keep it going continuously

Even simple stretching exercise can help... It can energize you if you do it regularly, it will help promote good blood circulation. While heavy exercises are good if done 2-3 times a week more than that you might end up with a sore and tired body.

For convenience, effectiveness, and time-saving - no need to visit a gym - Try Kettlebells, A short Kettlebell workout provides anyone who wishes to get lean and strong in as little as 20 minutes a day.

I have been doing Kettlebell exercises for over a year AND it makes you feel AWESOME

Youtube...kettlebell exercises for beginners. If you've never used kettlebells or aren't used to weight training in general, you may wish to ask a qualified kettlebell instructor to show you the correct technique for a few basic exercises.

As with any exercises, if you use kettlebells incorrectly, not only will your training be ineffective, but you also may injure yourself or others. Once you have been taught how to use a kettlebell correctly, spend time on your own practicing the exercises with a light bell.

I agree! When you get up and run in the AM you fill yourself with with unlimited energy to have an awesome and productive day. I did it today =-) The challenge for me was getting myself to bed early so I can get up with power in the morning at the time that I want to.

A great quote that can help you stay focus is..."The pain of discipline is far better than the pain of regret."

Say that to yourself when you feel like not getting up or when you feel like not exercising and JUST DO IT.

    Best of luck! =-)

I try and exercise 4 times a week by either running or playing sport. It gets me to use up all of my days energy so that when i get to bed, i'm not wasting time laying in bed trying to get off to sleep when i could be doing stuff. Helps me live life to the max so each day is a complete day of doing things and I spend the minimum amount of time laying in bed. Definitely thinks this has improved my quality of life since doing it

Combine that with a health diet and you will be astonished how much better you will feel. Others around you will notice your change and be more acquainted as well.

Have to agree with a lot of what's being said on this thread; it really is common sense. My job involves me spending a lot of time in front of a computer, and my business partner and I both have a penchant for junk food, especially curry.

Over the last 5 years I have put on an alarming amount of weight what with my high calorie lunches, and alcohol drinking in the evenings, plus the lack of motivation to exercise; this all lead me to put on a lot of weight and for my cholesterol levels to rise. I knew I had to do something about it as I was struggling to tie my own shoelaces and my work rate was suffering.

So I decided I'd get a dog! I also eat a lot more healthily nowadays, hardly drink at all during weekdays, walk my dog religiously for a few hours every day, and my work rate is so much better now as a result.

There is simply no replacement for what exercise does for the brain.

For the last week I've been getting up, drinking a full glass of water, and then running 1+ miles.

Results? I've finished more work in 1 week than all last month, at least I feel that way.

I definitely feel better when I am exercising regularly and when I feel better, I perform better in my work.

Also, I find that I need to exercise regularly or I start to have trouble with a chronic back problem. When my back is troubling me, I can't sit for very long and sometimes laying down doesn't help either. If I can't sit, and especially if I am experiencing pain and discomfort, then I can't concentrate properly and then I can't work properly. This also has an emotional effect on me.

So, regular exercise definitely does improve the quality of my life.

I'm not sure if it counts as advertising, but I would recommend you to read "Convict Conditioning by Paul Wade". It is a very good book about exercising at home without any equipment, or expensive supplements. The book is good for beginners and professionals too. The schedule is very easy at first, then it gradually gets harder. If you follow the schedule correctly, then after 1-2 years of exercise, you will be able to do one handed vertical push-ups, and stuff like that.

  • Working out actually relieves stress that business can often times cause and provides your body with more energy. Eating right, meaning proteins and lean meats will also boost your energy. The junk food will rob you of your energy and make you feel lazy.

working out will also make you look more physically attractive and boost your overall confidence too. Go ahead, make it a habit.

Mind-body connection; it has been proved by modern science beoynd any shadow of doubt...and has been known by wise since the dawn of the man. And it goes way deeper than many would (like to) believe...anyway, I would say reqular exercise improves anyones life who does it. It certainly improves mine, in so many ways.

There is no reason to make it "hard" or "difficult" to start exercising. You should enjoy doing it. Find a form of exercise that suits for you, your unique character. Something that brings joy into your life. For example, some people enjoy team sports, some prefer individual sports. Some likes to dance with a partner. There are almost unlimited ways to get/stay in good shape...while enjoying it. Even ways that you probably have not heard before. Don´t go and try to do what everyone else is doing, unles ofcourse you genuinely like it. So many ppl when they hear the word "sport" or "exercise" or "game" think something like gym, soccer, basket ball...or whatever is popular among their friends or in the area (city, country etc) they happen to live in. Find the exercise that attracts YOU and it should become easy to do it regularly.

    Hey Isaac,

I had the same experience. I just started caring about my body this year and I feel great. My energy levels are high and I can manage stress easily. Also, I get to do work without any troubles. It really helps.

As for the difficulty of exercise, I suggest that you choose one that you enjoy. As for me, I enjoy running. It makes me feel free and gives me a reason to go outside. It decreases the exertion that I have to do when exercising and just makes me show up.

Keep on going. You have to take care of your body if you want to get more out of life.

I agree densho. I haven't done it for thirteen years like you, dont know about all martial arts and it may vary depending on the school. But what I DO know is at my taekwondo/hapkido class (actually been out for awhile due to shoulder injury) you will get one heck of a workout. On the flip side, one doesn't need to get that aggressive with their workout regimen to succeed at being healthy and fit. Just jogging, walking, or riding bike for half hour or so 3 times a week can do wonders. Add a little weight lifting in there and you will feel on top of the world. If I go a stretch of time with no physical activity, my body AND mind know it.

I love getting into the flow of regular exercise. I find that it changes the way I feel. Actually, you have just reminded me to start again. I've noticed that I've been feeling a litlle fatigued of late. When I think about it, it's probably because I've been working all day everyday and then completley chilling out on weekends. I need to get ma blood moving again.

I don't think that it will take you a year or more to get into the zone. 3 months maximum and it will become a habit.

Yes yes yes, exercise is the perfect way for me to get into the zone. I take morning walks and by the time I get back, I have a plan on what I want to get done. Walking is the best for me because I can let my mind wander without having to focus a lot of attention on what I'm doing (I usually walk the same path). Besides, it is a very good wake up.

If you're having trouble sticking with it, then exercise with someone else. Then you each have someone you have to be accountable to. It also means that you will schedule it (if you're just doing it by yourself, it's easy to skip or let it slide off your schedule.)

Put it on your calendar first, then don't let anything bump it off.

I used to swim 3 times a week because it was good exercise but also because I had back pain which it helped to relieve. So I found that when I told someone I couldn't come to their meeting because I had to go swim, they were miffed.

However, when I told them I couldn't come to their meeting because I had a physical therapy appointment but that maybe I could change it, they'd say, "Oh, no, no, no. You should go to your P.T. appointment." So I did. And that's what it was and it's why I was doing it -- as physical therapy (which was far more important than their meeting.)

So, consider "reframing" it for yourself. Don't call it exercise. Call it your "Strategic Success Session" or something that is more positive and related to your goals.

Exercise will clear your mind and it will move your lymph around (which cleans the toxins out of your body but which has no circulatory system of its own and is only activated by the movement of muscles, etc.)

Exercise will give you more energy, improve your health, help you sleep better and reduce your stress levels.

But maybe best of all (for those of us here at the Warrior Forum) Exercise will make you RICH! (because while you exercise, you can sort out your day and brainstorm your current project. If you're doing it by yourself, exercise can be the time you get to spend with yourself and your own thoughts, without the world barging in and interrupting your mind and sense of well-being.)

Exercise should be a key component of all your entrepreneurial projects.

I've absolutely experienced the same thing. There's a time to work and a time to let the "steam" out, and also a time to rest and relax.

Every Wednesday I've been doing this workout:

Been doing this every week for the past two months and not only do I feel great after every workout, but my girlfriend has also noticed my posture has gotten straighter and muscles have been developing. It's a great workout that I recommend for anyone to push beyond their phyical and mental limits.

It's important as IMers who are usually always in front of a computer screen to take care of their body, especially backs. There's no point in having a whole of money if you don't have the health and vitality to enjoy it.

Exercise to keep yourself fit, and not in pain down the road.

Eating a healthy plant based diet makes you feel lighter, as well as decreases your chance to get cancer and heart disease.

I used to exercise 4 days a week. Then I had problems with business which lead me to not exercise for a full year. I can tell you that it really changed the way I feel and look. When my body shape changed I also became more critical and had lower self esteem. Thankfully now I have a more stable lifestyle, and built myself a home gym, so I don't have any excuse not to work out.
