Spirituality and success (is there a connection?)

Was wondering if there are many warriors out there who use/are open to spirituality and its relationship to doing business. Of course this section of the forum deals with the relationship between mind and success, but is it a stretch to think that spirituality can help in doing business?

By spirituality I don't mean getting on my knees every morning and praying for success (although if that works for someone, god bless'em so to speak)

I'm actually referring to stuff as seen in films like 'What the bleep do we know', which argues you can control your environment (under a rather pseudo scientific pretext). I personally don't take this movie that literally, but I do believe a certain mindset creates success...that a certain mindset has an effect on your environment so to speak. I also believe life throws certain challenges/opportunities and that it's up to everyone to tackle these challenges en seize their opportunities. For instance, I accidentally stumbled into internet marketing and figured this was an opportunity life was throwing at me. In other words: it kinda feels like the universe decided I should know of internet marketing...now it's up to me to seize that opportunity.

Was wondering if spirituality is a common theme in the lives and work of warriors and if so, how?

Spirituality is important to my success, it allows me to think outside the confines of traditional thinking and assures me that I have all the power from within to manifest my desires.

I thought 'What the bleep do we know' was very interesting...of course the concept could've been told and explained in 15 minutes though. Like 'The Secret' it was definitely the commercialized version but the core of it all speaks to me very much.

Spirituality certainly helps me in every aspect of my life. Also in my business life.

What if the essence of spirituality could be boiled down to this:

Do unto others as you'd have others do unto you.

That would be a spiritual concept and one that would also be perfect for your behavior in business and all relationships with others.

So, yes. There is a connection.

Concepts of spirituality would and should apply to all beings, everywhere, since we are all spirits connected/attached to our physical bodies. Attached/connected temporarily, that is, because bodies die but we don't. Love, javabeane77

Interesting thread of discussion! Being respectful to all of your views, let me post my thoughts. Yes, spirituality has connections to success, but in different ways.

'Spirituality' leads to dedication and devotion, that lead to 'excellence'. We should strive for 'excellence' only, 'success' will automatically follow. Thanks to all!

Funny, I never connected the basic 'Do unto others as you'd have other do unto you' with business...even though it seems like a no brainer!...

I think there is a "spiritual" connection between everything, as all things in the universe are connected. Kind of like the butterfly effect.

how to answer this .. there are a lot of "successfull people very very successful people who are spirtually empty.. and they use money bigger houses ..and a long list of iligal drugs and prescription drugs ..

there are a long list of very spirtual people who view money as dirty and evil and a corrupting force .. while they still work hard for it teach and do what they can to obtain it ..

we all have our paths and if you find your way to the greater part of yourself and it drives you forward to live with great purpose .. then that is the only real definition of success ..

In my view there is no need to give up money or give up wanting stuff as we are here to have a rich and joyous physical experience once we become spiritualy driven ..

the more spirtual grounded i become the more i want to experience the best this life has to offer ..the broke-ness and lack in my life has been to get spiritually grounded .. can i be happy with almost nothing can i feel good despite a list of reasons not to ...

but i have had my fill of lack and broke-ness ..as now my mind fills with ways to live the life i want to live and make money in the process ..

i say broke-ness instead of poverty .. as i have always had a car.. a roof over my head and plenty to eat.. so i have been broke not poor

For me the connection is very obvious: We relate to things, people, circumstances, etc.

How we relate to such things (whether in or out of business) are based on our thoughts/feelings, and therefore the Law of Attraction is at work. Our perception of ourselves and our reality will affect the way we relate to others.

Like if you believe the world is a dangerous place, you will perceive more danger. It will literally mold your outlook on life. If you believe the world is a great place to do business, that will allow you to see great opportunities.

While I may sound like I'm talking about mindset, it goes much deeper: Mindset really point towards consciousness. With a prosperity consciousness, you will almost automatically generate wealth, just as a poverty consciousness automatically produces more lack and limitation.

Developing a prosperity consciousness comes down to believing in yourself (or more like realizing how powerful you really are as a spiritual being), believing in a higher power (be it God, Source, Universe, the quantum field, etc), and trusting that higher power (i.e. intuition). And a good number of successful businessmen tend to agree that trusting your intuition is a good idea.

As you can guess, I take What the Bleep Do We Know literally. I am convinced that we are consciously creating our reality with our thoughts.

So how does one apply such teachings? I recommend reading this thread I posted for practical things you can do:

Yes, I believe there is a connection. Many of the most successful business persons and leaders in the U.S., to cite one example, are extremely religious: Mormons, Evangalicals, Hindus, etc. I think there is a quote from a Hindu saint along the lines of "Seek inner treasure first, and outer treasure will always follow".

I used to be a staunch atheist. Although I still cringe at religious dogma, I feel that atheism is an emotionally draining belief system that makes it harder to be successful and happy in life.

Definitely agree with that...Used to be convinced we were just random figments of cosmic matter without purpose or significance (which is my rather stark interpretation of the word 'atheism'), but the older I got, the more I got the feeling things just happen for a reason. What's important to me is not so much whether these 'reasons' actually exist or that it's just my mind wanting them to. What is important is that I can't help but FEEL it is real. It's this feeling that eventually made me let go of atheism. And the older I become, the more I dare to follow my feelings and instincts, which I believe have brought me to places (both literally and figuratively) I would not have reached if I had stuck to atheism.

Although I'm not religious (as in I don't adhere to the rules of any kind of religion), I do find it interesting that religious people are generally happier than non religious people (Religion and happiness - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

I think that this is true because the one thing that all religious people share is 'belief'.

I find that there's no point in deciding which religion is best... It's all about the message and not about the messenger. Religion and spirituality have the same message and that's a simple but persistent belief in the power of this universe. Some call it God, some call it Self, others Universe or just plain energy. And knowing that this power is everywhere to work for you, not against you.

In my opinion it all boils down to finding balance in life and if lost, knowing how to return. There's no joy without sorrow, no success without failure, no yin without yang. Being able to always find that thin line between those two... this is where you can find your balance.
