Now it's time for BOOKS that Inspire/Motivate you!

We've have had posts on inspirational movies, quotes and leaders, now it's time for books.

The age-old reliable book has the power to inspire, motivate, enlighten, widen imaginations, challenge the known and enter the unknown. They have been instrumental in my quest for wisdom and knowledge. There is nothing like reading a book and having that book bring energy to your surroundings.

So, if we are what we read, what are some of the books (fiction or non-fiction) that have had a really lasting impact on you - professionally and/or personally.

I'm gonna have to really shorten my list (in no particular order):

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
Dalai Lama - Daily Advice From The Heart by the Dalai Lama
Buddha's Brain by Rick Hanson
The 4 Hour Work Week by Time Ferris
The Miracle of Mindfulness by Thich Nhat Hanh
The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari by Robin Sharma
The Celestine Prophecy by James Redfield
The Life of Pi by Yann Martel

I know this is bad, but I have never read any of the Rich Dad books. Thoughts?

The book. There are parts that I read often though because I find the stories to be so interesting (even though I'm not very religious myself), but never the whole thing cover to cover. The language just gets too boring to me sometimes.

You gotta love some of those interesting stories.

Speaking of which, I heard so many of those stories told at family gatherings reworded in every day language (like then ole' Moses, he ...or so then Noah just up and...)that I grew up thinking some of the famous Bible characters were kin, lol!

This'll come out of left field for you guys; but the Dark Tower series from Stephen King inspires me. It's an epic tale of loyalty, steadfastness, and redemption. They're all themes that are very appealing to me and can be applied to every day life.

“An Iron Will” By Orison Swett Marden.

Amazon.com: An Iron Will (9781466248052): Orison...Amazon.com: An Iron Will (9781466248052): Orison...

Orison was one of the first personal development, positive thinking, and new thought authors. He founded “Success Magazine”—one of the first of its kind—in 1897 and “An Iron Will” was first published 30 years before “Think And Grow Rich.”

Here's one of my favourite quotations from the book:

There are three kinds of people in the World. The Wills. The Won'ts. And the Can'ts. The first accomplish everything. The second oppose everything. And the third fail in everything.

Unlimited Power by Tony Robbins is amazing. It get's a little technical at times, but that's just because he really does have it down to a science. It's like 450 pages, so I'm in the middle of taking notes on each chapter, but I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone. Check it out.

The book that still gave the best impact to me was the fiction book of The Twilight. It was a great story of two different people who fought for their story. I am actually inspired by it so that, I have every book series of it.

  • The Astonishing Power of Emotions by Abraham-Hicks.

Truly powerful stuff. It provided me a deep understanding of why certain people succeed in a field while others don't.

The answer is so deep yet simple. It blew my mind when I devoured the material for the first time... and it still does.
