Does hypnosis (or self hypnosis) interest you?

Hey guys

I was interested to know what you guys (particularly the mind warriors) think about hypnosis? In my opinion 'hypnosis' is the greatest tool we ever have to get anything we really want out of life.

I have worked as a trained hypnotherapist/coach for nearly 12 years now and i often see a lot of misconceptions about the subject so i wondered what you think about it? I see every single day what amazing changes it can bring into peoples lives, yet it has such an undeserved bad reputation.

cheers

    Hey Chris

I agree on one point, people are still by and large stuck in the middle ages- they think its all voodoo kind of stuff when its nothing like.

Smoking is an awkward one, its what people want to believe as to whether they stop or not. the hardest part is helping them see how easy it can be to stop.

What you say about self hypnosis, well there is only one kind of hypnosis really. I agree that an experienced therapist can help you do things better quicker, but thats not to say you cant go that 'deep' yourself or practice being so good on yourself.

Hypnosis is a state of mind, whether seeing a hypnotherapist or not- YOU actually do the hypnosis yourself, the therapist only guides you. All hypnosis is self hypnosis believe it or not.

I have gotten a lot from Ericksonian hypnosis and NLP (neuro-linguistic programming) -- in particular a guy named Michael Emery (has some $0.99 audios on Amazon). Very helpful for the trap of losing motivation half way through a project and then picking up another one. Don't we all know that one?

Erickson was a genius Tom, i qualified as a Ericksonian practitioner but really, its a skill you just keep improving on for the rest of your life. $0.99 for audio, wow thats cheap!

NLP can be a great use, but it works LOADS better when combined with some form of hypnosis

Hypnosis/Self-Hypnosis does interest me. I understand that the subconscious mind is very powerful and if you can get it to do what you want it to, it will help you out tremendously. My problem with hypnosis is that it can be pretty expensive if you work with a professional.

As for self-hypnosis, I guess my problem with it is that it seems so simple to do it's hard to believe you can actually get any benefit from it. I'm sure it works but there's the fear of failure or even success that seems to stop me.

    Hey Wendy

Youre right, it can be expensive to see a professional but its a cost/benefit analysis -choose the right person and you could reap that outlay back many times. You should never be scared if failure though.. its part of success. Thats how to look at it.

Nicheman, i agree its an everyday occurence, most of us dont even realise it. but your damn right, you choose if it uses you or the other way around

      Hi

Any decent book would be ok, theres nothing to it really. The best thing is to look on Amzon and see what other people have found useful, as i trained in it, i never used a book for self hypnosis

I like it .. I practice hypnosis on a regular basis .. I use audio hypnosis at night and I found that since I have been doing it for so long I get hypnotized very easily and will fall asleep ..

I don't have proof that it works, but if it does what its meant to do then it has really helped to reprogram my subconscious mind..
