I always try to help others whenever I can or atleast try not to hurt them.
And you know what if you help someone, the peace of mind you get after that is really amazing. It might sound selfish to help others for your peace of mind, but atleast you'll help someone in need rather than not help anyone at all.

I think it was Zig Ziglar who said "You can have anything you want in life...if you help enough other people get what THEY want."

Attaining my own self realization through helping others. I believe helping others, whatever that may be, adds to your life in a very positive light and throughout your life it adds up.

Doing all of this through a selfless/selfish scope is another issue but you must touch the lives of others in some way in order to progress through this life.

I have been helping others all these while.

But there have been times where I realized actually others do not need help or they are merely feigning weak to obtain help, hence abusing the good and helpful nature of others. This sure opens up a new perspective to think about it.

Our purpose in life is to help others or those who needs help not just by material things, or monetary but it can be emotionally, spiritually and others. That way if there will come a time that we will need some one to talk to or confide on to someone you know that you will never be alone with whatever problem that you may encounter.

There is not point in helping somebody, if we are expeciting something in return from that person.

We get it back somewhere in the future in many different ways from a variety of sources.

Nice post, it has touched my heart. Basically this is a basic principal that everyone must have.....I have a bad experience, been hurt by one of my colleague which quite close to me, I'm not angry with him but however I have kept a distance with him to avoid the same incident happen again, because it was really sad and I'm wondering why some of them like to create politics in the office and gossiping during lunch time or to have a good performance, they will talk bad about you in front of the bosses......why can't they create a harmony environment in the office.....

it is laudable to help family, friends and neighbors when they need help. if everyone personally helped their family, friends, and neighbors, the needs of the people would largely be met.so our purpose of life should help the people because through this work we indirectly help ourself.

In the moment, the punches are very painful. But the pain will go away.
The pain of lashes from a tongue can last the rest of a person's life.

Hello Gianni,

My opinion may be a little offbeat. But here is what I believe our purpose is.

And that is to:

Create.

By overcoming obstacles, challenges, roadblocks, and problems.

If you look at it from the perspective of God. Since God has the ability to create anything out of nothing.

Why would he choose to create anything at all, if he already is, all that is?

The answer is experience.

It's like being "bill gates" (multi-billionaire) - but not spending a $1 on anything.

If you have all of that "power" and you don't use it. What is the point then?

So I feel that our purpose is to show God what his creations are truly capable of. In the light of human-will, discipline, willingness to help others, self-sacrifice for the higher good of mankind, and all of the altruistic and powerful emotions that make humans unlike any other species (i'm presuming other species exist) in the universe.

Cool. I hope I gave light to a different perspective here.

One of the best books that I have read that describes this in detail is "The Seat of The Soul" by Gary Zukav. Very great book that tries to explain our purpose in life. GIVE, LOVE, and know that KARMA exists.

There are a lot of people who cause a great deal of harm with their words. Somehow, they think they have the right to do it, or they think they are superior and they are going to set the othe person straight. Or maybe that's just their way of trying to make themselves appear better by making others look small.

Seems legit. People may think "ooh helping people I can't be bothered, or it's too much hard work" but what they probably don't realise is that you can be indirectly helping people in many different ways. It doesn't necessarily have to be helping an old lady across the road or carrying a dog in a basket!
