Without doing anything about it, I often find that I can lose my motivation for days on end or even a whole week. But I found out a couple of things that limits it to just a day or even a couple of hours.
For me, on the rare occasion that I do feel a bit lost and like not working I take the day off , read some good material (currently re-reading Think and Grow Rich) and do something with my girlfriend/friends.
For someone like me that works a full time job, and then puts 30-40 hours a week into IM, taking the day off from all of it is a very rare treat. On top of that, allowing myself to spend any money on any sort of recreational activity is very rare, so it's another nice treat.
