Michael Phelps Key to London Success

I was listening to Bob Costas interview Michael Phelps last night and he asked Phelps since Phelp's first few race results in London were not as strong as his later races, was there a turning point or something he changed.

Phelps reply was that he thought he was tense at the beginning of the Olympics and that he began smiling more in the middle of the week and when he smiled more he raced better.

Hey... can't argue with those results.... I'm smiling!

Although no one can't deny Phelps is a genetic marvel, its as undeniable that he has an enormous discipline and unstoppable desire to success. I think that is the most notable part of his talent.

      I agree.

Most people overlook the fact that it takes a lot of hard work and strong discipline to even get to the Olympics.

Athletes work hard, are super determined and even so they still might not even make it to the Olympics.

To be on the level Phelps is on requires amazing self-discipline, a lot of hard work and also, a lot of talent, which he of course does have.

I attribute his success to having been reinvigorated due to the Lochte talk.

Nothing gets a sleeping giant more riled up than someone saying he is washed up and the new kid is the replacement.

Lesson: Never wake a sleeping giant, lol.

I think it's called confidence, he smiles because he believes he can do it.
