Summer Olympics 2012 - How does it inspire you?

The official motto of the Olympics is: Citius, Altius, Fortius - Latin for "Faster, Higher, Stronger"

How do you, or how can you use this motto to inspire your business and marketing activity? In what ways can you apply it to your methods and practices?

In a recent blog post, I related some of the Olympic events to Internet Marketing activities.

What Olympic events can you relate to your marketing activities? Focus, effort, competitiveness, striving to go faster, higher and be stronger... Things like that.

Share your thoughts.

Make sure you aware what and who your competition is, find their strengths and weakneses.
With sport or business these apply or you cannot hope to win.

Thanks for the comment, midlandi! We definitely need to know and understand our competition.

Also, there is the team effort. I've been watching some of the team events at the London Olympics and teamwork is so important. We can apply that to marketing as well. There are times when we need to find marketing partners, perhaps joint venture partners, and we need to work together to develop a winning strategy.

If you watch the USA 4 x 100 relay team you can see a near perfect success machine (except for the fact they were beaten by Jamaica because of the incredible Usain Bolt!).

All four parts worked perfectly. Your post here inspired me that the real business owner is the one who owns the machine, and not the one who is taking a part in the machine.

Get your parts together, orchestrate them and tweak them until they bring success.

It takes years of practice and lots of failures for the winners to grind out the results.

The Olympic motto "Faster, Higher, Stronger" do relate a lot with the experiences I had with my business. I struggle a lot by gaining momentum through years of practice and learning again through my business failures.
