This always comes to my mind, what motivates us? Why do some of us never settle for what we have but, keep pushing to get more. I guess for me it’s the quality of life, I was never after a higher income, I mean yes truly a part of me would enjoy the income I create for myself no doubt, but what gets me so excited is the ability to see my hard work pay off. The ability to show myself that I’m not limited working for someone but that I can create anything I want if I put my heart and soul into it. Growing up my family were immigrants, they came to this country wanting the best for us. Now that they are established and doing OK, they still provide more for us. I’m doing this to give back to my family, I’m doing this to establish my self-worth, I’m doing this for the rush and the ability to feel that I’ve accomplished something that I didn’t think at one point was possible.

So my question to you, What motivates you? What keeps you going no matter how many bad or good days you have?
#motivates
  • LC,

This is a really great question!

I think that what most motivates me is making sure that my family is taken care of... In the end, for me, there is not much else that could compare.

For me it's not what, it's more of WHO motivates me to keep me doing what i'm doing. And that would be my family especially my kids, i want to make sure that i would be able to provide for their needs, to make sure that they will have a better future. They are the the reason why i work hard to succeed.

What motivates me is that I want to be the best in what I do, and at the same time be able to provide food on the table for the family.

      Unmotivated people motivate me.

I look at their attitudes and their situations which are reflective of their attitudes and I promise myself not to be like them.

I think in some way the base of all motivation is stemmed in fear or pain. At the root, it's the fear of lacking, falling behind, or something painful that causes people to want to make change.

The pain in people cause them to either live and accept the pain, do harm to others or excel and improve their lives. If you look around the vast majority of people will complain and do nothing even though they are uncomfortable. The few, will take the pain and use it to their advantage. There has to be a reason for someone to make change and it's usually because of some discomfort.

What motivates me is the ability to take what I have learned through my hardships and share it with people so that they can use it for their well being. My motivation is based in fear and pain, but rather than going out and hurting people, I choose to use it for good and possibly help people.

      1. I have an innate need to always learn and do my best.
      2. I choose what I do based on what I enjoy, so I always want to do them.
      3. The need to set up my financial foundation now, while I can still work this hard, in the hope that I won't be in big trouble when I'm too old to get work.
      4. Knowing that the first chance that I get, when I'm able to afford it, I want to take a long, 3 weeks or so of vacation (the first in about 10 years). ^-^

Man, I want that vacation... o.o

I grew up on a pretty messy family, so one day I had enough and made a promise to myself: "If can't get a great family from my parents, I'm gonna make one myself!". That vision is a big goal for my life.

Aside from that dream, mostly my girlfriend is my motivation. She came from a very financially poor family, and when her mother passed away I promised her that I would take care of her. That promise lead me to get my ass off, start working and building up some small business with my friends right now...

    • I get my greatest motivation from Life itself. I keep almost falling down happy over the idea that I can be alive at all. I know that sounds stupidly simple but if you ever stopped to inventory all the joys and stellar sensations (including pain) of the body alone, you would have to agree with me that to be alive and know it deeply is to be blessed. And we are not even mentioning the universe of emotions that lies just under our skins. Whoa!

Not only that, but there's a reason why people say, "Don't be sad that you're getting older. Be happy that you have the chance to."

There are so many things that could've gone wrong (especially in our teenage years!), and we've somehow managed to survive it all thus far! If nothing else, we should be grateful for that. XD lol

My mother motivates me because I want her to be able to enjoy the good life, and not have to work anymore. I also want to buy her a sweet house, and a sweet car.

I also have three little brothers halfway across the globe that I would love to see. One I haven't met yet, so I'm very interested in meeting him. Being a positive role model for them is very important to me. There is so much I want to show them.

Every experience a person has a positive or negative impact it. All positive moments most likely enhance our daily motivation. Daily motivation is what enables us to strive to be better people , to work towards goals and lead a fulfilling life.

    Set goals
Many people set goals for themselves . These goals are what motivate us to work hard to achieve success and drive our daily motivation . Goals like going to college, have a career high salary , marry , buy the car of our dreams, or the purchase of a property are what lead a person to succeed. However, we must remember to take small achievable steps and we do not set unrealistic goals to maintain a positive attitude and the desire to achieve the goal, even if we do not feel too enthusiastic.

      Hello everyone!
      Nice question.

Successes, goals, needs and wishes, faith, emotions, loved ones, friends, helping others...
There could be so many things that can motivate you...
None of the above can't do it (or help you to do it) unless you work hard and believe in yourself, your success and your dreams (wishes).

My #1 motivation is to have enough time to spend with my kids and loved ones. That's why I have worked for years building a business which now pretty much works on auto-pilot.

Get the right manager to handle your SEO team, and the right team to handle your content writing and back-linking, and you're done. Off, doing other things which you like the most live playing golf, surfing, traveling, playing with your kids, and on and on.

    Sounds doable?

I have a time capsule that I buried in the ground at a very remote wilderness area when I was 15 years old. I am 38 now and was expecting to go back to get it no more than 3 years later. I became plagued by financial hardships, and anxiety issues. It took me over ten years to get through the anxiety issues and now I am excited to go back for it in a year or two.
Not a day has went by in 23 years that I haven't thought about it.
The cool thing is, is that I will be able to take my son with me and he will be a part of it.
    Hows that for motivation?

The coolest motivation EVER! That's what kind of motivation it is!

Time capsules are amazing! They're a fantastic reminder of what's important to us, and that, no matter how much we change, in some ways, certain things will ALWAYS be important. I can't think of anything better than sharing that with your loved ones. ^_^

Thank you so much for sharing this with us!

On the most basic sense, we all have needs that need to be satisfied and the only way to get them is to move our ass and work to get them.

Once that is satisfied, other set of needs come up which, again need to be satisfied.

Our reasons for satisfying those needs vary, hence we are motivated for different reasons.

For me, I just want to see how far I can go and how much I can make of myself. And I think that should be true for most of us.
