For newbies: If you think it, you can do it - with proof.

I want to start out by saying this is geared toward the newer folks here as I think they will get the most benefit from it. While this is not a post on making a million dollars or anything, it still can serve as an example of achievement for you and what you are capable of.

As many of you already know, I'm Robert. I've been putting together my site and for a couple months now and I'm proud to say that it's almost 100% done.

The reason I'm sharing this with you is because it was not too long ago that I was a fresh-faced newbie to all this. I mean, I've browsed the warrior forum off and on since last year and messed around with a few wordpress blogs and stuff. But, I had never really set up anything that was "serious" to me. I had always been interested in entrepreneurial endeavors , success, and similar concepts, but I never really put a plan into place.

I caught Pat Flynn's blog (Passive Income: The Smart Passive Income Blog) and became inspired by his story. I really liked his business model and the type of show he was running there. Taking ideas I'd received from Pat and the Warrior Forum, I decided to start the site that I've *always* wanted to run.

I had the picture of what I wanted the site to look like, the features I wanted it to have, colors, everything... the only problem was that I lacked the technical know-how to get any of it done.

I did what I needed to do and gradually learned CSS, Gimp graphic editor, Open Office Writer, some basic PHP, and other skills. I outsourced the logo but decided I wanted to do everything else myself. I wanted this project to be done "just right."

Learning CSS/PHP to customize my theme the way I wanted and add additional items was an uphill battle for me. I kept trying to find "fixes" to each little thing I needed. After a few weeks of frustration I just started coding from scratch and trying to build different things from scratch, in order to learn how it all worked and fit together.

I went through a similar process with Open Office Writer and learning that software and how to produce an eBook using Gimp and OOW.

No matter what issues kept coming up, I just kept going, learning and holding on to what I was trying to achieve. Never settling for less than the outcome I wanted and having things look/fucntion the way I wanted them to.

Then, one day, I suddenly realized that this thought of my site, that I had in my mind, was materialized in front of me and proudly sitting on its .com with all the features I had envisioned and looking exactly how I had envisioned it looking. All of this without any initial skill or knowledge (aside from the very basics on using wordpress) on how I was going to create this.

Now, while this may not mean anything to some people, this is a great accomplishment for me. And I'm sure some of you will say, "You could have just outsourced everything." But, I wanted to learn as well as create.

The reason it's a good example for newer marketers is because, even with the diversity and resistance of lacking the skills to complete my task, it was still achieved because it was the driving force and theme of my mind.

The site and ideas behind it, while nothing more than thoughts at one point, are now real. Thoughts are things.

So if you're out there and you're struggling, just remember... "If you think it, you can do it."

Good luck and Thanks for reading.

Wow very cool post. These types of stories are very inspiration to me and amazed everyday how we live in a society where the work force climate is changing drastically. Software is replacing huge numbers of people and they are losing their jobs because their skills are obsolete now. Using the leverage of the internet today to choose to be successful and use your time to make money without having to commute and slave at a j o b....well words almost can't describe it. You have to live and experience it to really know.
