How Do You Qualify Passion?

I've thought a lot recently about what I am passionate? Is it making money? Is it doing something for the thrill? Is it something you can spend "all of your time" on and not get burnt out?

I'm trying to think about what I am passionate and how to qualify that. I have an addictive personality, and one that when I am into something, I obsess about it. I believe that that will pay dividends in the business world one day when I can find my "profitable passion".

For me, being passionate is when you pursue something with conviction and emotion.

take money out of the picture .. lets say you make enough money in a small amount of time to persue your passions most of the time.. read it again ..passions ..many many passions ..and the true winners in life tend to meld their passions with the way they make money ..

as you grow what you are passionate about will change and you don't want to build a business around a passion then wake up and find it does not drive you any more ..

you can live another 100-200 years .. or you can die 6 months from now or sooner.. the ideal is to live a life where you persue your passions every day .. if you are not passionate about something you just don't do it ..

if you are married or have a partner .. sometimes the best thing you can do instead of locking yourself away trying to earn money.. is to grab them in your arms and hug and kiss them when ever possible .. because you can either live in a low.no passion relationship.. or it can end suddenly ..

divorce and dateing can be expensive and time consuming ..

I think passion can be qualified quantitatively and/or subjectively. I think a good way to identify them is to pose the question: if money was not an issue, if you had unlimited funds, what would you be doing? Whatever the answer to that is, I think could likely be a passion.

I really do like making money. I love seeing it in the bank. That gives me thrills.

For me, it is all about the money.

There are some things that I like to do like loaf at the beach, play guitar, and read.

When I was working this last gig, I could walk to the bay at lunchtime and the temporary place I was staying was a 10 minute walk to the beach. The idea of loafing around in a comfortable chaise and do most nothing really has an appeal.

So I have decided to move to a beach town by November.

Very good advice. I have a hard time separating money and passion; why can't it be both? Right now I'm thinking of a way to mend the two -- win-win.

I love photography. But I don't want to make my living off taking pictures. But I can make money in the industry...

I see nothing wrong with banking on a passion. It's the best of both world, right?

though we need to get on a much better relationship with money than we have ..there are many way to persue our passions or get what we want without the need for money .. and right now is a good time to practice getting what you want without needing money for it all ..

the most important thing to invest in when you have money is you and your ability to create something people want ..and always being able to have a list of people interested in what you create ..

and you have to be more passionate about what you create than the list of people who like your stuff ..

    Hi Christian

Some good advice here. Just to help you think through this a little more, you may be passionate about the fact you have an addictive personality?

Whilst it may seem obvious, it could help you further understand your calling/passion.

I have absolutely no idea what I'd do with that. I'm not a person who, right now at least, has a passion to advocate anyone anything (other than maybe to not believe more megapixels = better camera). Plus, I don't think my addictive personality is that strong; it just might be that I "get in the grove" of something and may seem more addictive than anything else. I dunno.

Travelling is my passion. I love to travel all the time. But again, money is involved here. No one can travel without money. You can do hitch hiking, backpacking but again, a little money is always involved.
I think, in order to pursue your passion, you have to earn also. Nothing is free in this world.

    Buck,

Start with asking yourself more specific questions.

    For example:

"What actions could I take that would enhance the lives of others
while also providing me with a sense of completion, and fulfillment?"

"What gets me excited, aroused, thrilled, amped and outright JUICED?

Recap to Question 2: Can I get others to feel this way too, by spreading
my passionate outlook on this event, and/or stimuli?

The key is to find balance.

When your deepest fear meets your greatest desire will get a parade of stimuli - which will give you huge clues as too what you are passionate about.

Then you can take this mindset and advance it into a career.
