When we stop searching for peace, it comes searching for us. Realize you have nothing to chase & everything to become. Once you're it, everything will find YOU!

If you're feeling lonely and depressed a lot, I would recommend seeing a therapist to discuss the issue. This isn't a normal quality or trait to have and can even have some negative consequences on your overall health.

Having played online poker for 7 years before returning to the IT industry, I feel fairly well equipped to respond to this thread!

It can be extremely frustrating to feel like you're doing your job to the best of your abilities and get no reward for your efforts, it can certainly leave you feeling downhearted, especially if you don't have the support of people such as your family. These negative feelings can easily put you into a mindset where you start to make poor decisions, and this can become a downward spiral ultimately leading to your demise, which in poker terms means losing your capital through making poor investment decisions.

Boredom becomes a factor if you're not enjoying your job anymore; nobody likes being a punch bag, especially if you're not being handsomely rewarded for being one.

Motivation is one of the cornerstones to becoming a good poker player, and in my humble opinion, it's also a pillar of other jobs, such as being a great saleperson, great SEO professional, great boyfriend / partner etc...

Keeping yourself motivated through the bad times as well as the good is imperative in order to be the best you can be in whichever profession you work in.

Motivations are different for everyone; what motivates me is my burning desire to make my family proud of me, also to prove to myself that I've got what it takes to succeed.

Others may be motivated by money, and there's absolutely no shame in that.

How do I keep myself motivated? I keep reminding myself the reason why I go out to work; I look at the photos of my family on my desk, and that gives me all the motivation I need.

If you're motivated by money, I'd suggest keeping a mental image of your increasing bank balance, or maybe a photo of a lovely new sports car that could be yours if you continue to work hard.

          Great question.

I meditate daily, 30 minutes in the morning before work; and 30 minutes 2 hours before I sleep (never meditate at night because you will likely fall asleep which is pointless!)

Meditation is incredibly powerful to clear your mind, channel ideas and creativity, calm your spiritual body, decrease your stress levels, improve your health and make you happier. It's an activity that I think everybody should do daily. It helps you to feel better about yourself.

Secondly, positive thinking; you have to break free from having a negative mindset. Especially in this business. Positive thinking will take you very far, and a lot of the time separates those that give up and those that press on for victory. I wrote a whole post on my Blog about the mindset recently, feel free to check it out.

Other things I do to motivate myself? Talk to myself every morning; I tell myself where I want to be in a year, why I am working so hard, and why I sleep at 3:00am every day, and wake back up at 8:00am. I work very hard and am proud of myself for it. I feel better about myself for it. This motivates me and makes me push even harder.

Put pictures up; pictures of people u fight for, pictures of a house you want, car you want, holidays you want to take, places you want to see (I don't believe in material wealth though really.)

Those are some of the things that work for me.

          Hope that helps.

          Joey Xoto.

Yes, meditation could help. But if you are depressed I suggest you talk to a close, trusted friend or family. Meditation may lead you to meditating about bad things, bad memories which will just make you feel more depressed. Surround yourself with a strong support group - could be hard at the beginning, but it will definitely be worth it knowing other people. Try not to focus on your problems and depression. Many people out there suffer more than you do. Your problem probably is too small compare to theirs, or maybe not, and they can help you find wisdom in their experiences. The meditation that I know is helpful is spiritual meditation - prayer and reading the Bible.

Meditation works great, but I make it a daily habit to either read something about personal development or listen to an audio. Before you know it, the lessons seep into your subconscious and you are automatically doing what you need to do.

You gotta make a habit of being happy now. Not when you get *PAID*. Not when you get the girl/guy of your dreams. Now. If you are feeling down, write down what it is that is making you feel down and write another list of what makes you feel happy. In many cases, you realize the list of things that brings you down is not that long and can be resolved relatively easily.

Don't blame outside sources for your problems and take responsibility for where you life is. That usually snaps me out of a funk real quick. heh

Sometimes we have to work when we don't geel motivated to work. I enjoy earning a living online but their days when I'm motivated and days when I'm not motivated.

Don't base what you do in life on how you feel. Most of the time when I'm down and a little depressed I go out and have some FUN and focus on getting my mind clearly off of what was saddening me.

I would advise you figuring out what is causing that type of feeling and emotion and try to get rid of or solve whatever is causing that.

    Hope that helped!

Since things outside of me do not have any intrinsic value (i.e. my brain creates my emotions based on past perception, and a rock, for example, does not have any more emotional meaning than a car, or any other object) I just meditate on the negative emotions I'm observing until my brain re-wires to stop feeling them.

Well, you're asking two different questions (how do we motivate ourselves? and how do we feel calm and confident?)

For me, writing Morning Pages -- similar to a journal or diary -- (just sitting and typing for 30 minutes, sorting out yesterday, planning today, examining my goals, writing down what's frustrating me and making me happy or angry) is a morning ritual.

That, plus my other rituals (exercise, eating healthy, even flossing) make me feel "in control."

I exercise about 20 hours a week (yoga, Pilates, bicycling, a series of stretches, etc.) which is excessive but pain is a great motivator (chronic back pain.)

To motivate myself, I often envision the end result. Then, the hard part is getting started. So I trick myself: I just tell myself that all I have to do is one simple thing (like open a word processing file and name it and save it in a folder named for the new project.)

Of course, once I've gone to the trouble to open the file and named it and saved it, then I may as well go ahead and start typing something. Getting started is sometimes the most difficult part so I turn the first step into a tiny bite-sized task that's non-threatening and not-overwhelming.

Breaking a big task down into tiny pieces is the best way to prevent myself from becoming overwhelmed and paralyzed by the enormity of the project.

And by chopping it up into pieces (some of which can be done in just a few minutes) I'm able to feel more productive, like I'm making progress. It's fun to make a to-do list and cross things off. That keeps moving me in the right direction and I feel a sense of accomplishment.

And, of course, at times it helps to grab some inspiration from someone else (and that's why I sometimes come to the Warrior Forum, to read success stories and also to see that others are fighting the same battles and dealing with similar frustrations.)

So thanks everyone for sharing your problems and frustrations and also for sharing your victories, big and small.

I simply start my day with good thoughts even if we sometimes have a lot of worries. I think of the importance of still waking up in the morning. It's about being positive despite of terrible things- though its really hard sometimes. Think good and positive things and you'll find hope and solution to every problems you might have. Think of negative ones then your day will be darker than you can ever imagine.

Honestly, i would do this for free. I love making ******* badass websites that people love to use.

I like making them pretty. I like making them usable. I like creating awesome content.

I just like doing this stuff. I like designing systems and just generally kicking butt at business. The whole thing is fun for me.

If you enjoy what youre doing it wont feel like work, then you dont care if youre a success or not. Then you will take action. In the same way people watch TV or play cod for fun, i like making websites for fun or hanging out on forums answering peoples questions.

When youre at a point where you can earn money doing something that you love doing, you HAVE ALREADY WON.

It's as simple as that. TBh im pretty happy. Right now i am doing well. Doing low 5-fig month. I have low bills. Almost debt free. I wanna travel. Spend time with my girlfriend and make kickass sites.

It's really not that hard to earn a couple of K a month doing this if you REALLY WORK AT IT. The problem is most people are unwilling to work really ******* hard. Thats my edge. I take action for fun. Ive lost so much money doing this, ive made some huge mistakes. But if u view everything as a learning process, there literally isnt any risk.

Its just about enjoying the process. Taking action. And learning from your **** ups. Simple as that.

Thats the only success blueprint that exists.

    /end rant

    Have a nice day buddy
