You're Going To Fail!

One of the biggest reasons people refuse to take action on an idea or a method is because they're afraid of failure.

Let's look at one of the biggest known phobias in our society. One of the biggest fears, held higher than even death is public speaking. For some, speaking to the public is just a nightmare and they have anxiety attacks just thinking about it.

Why do you think this is?
The fear of failing. All the eyes are on you! If you mess up, everyone's going to notice.

Let's take a look at what some people would consider failure. Everyone has their own meaning and definition of what it means to fail.

1) Temporary failure
This is when a product or an idea is implemented and doesn't work out as planned. Instead of being executed as mapped out, it goes wrong and the desired results aren't achieved.

HOWEVER, in order to achieve temporary failure, one thing must happen. One very important thing must happen in order for someone to achieve temporary failure. Let's say you launched a website, and it's doing very poorly compared to how you initially thought it would do. You scrap the idea and move onto the next.

Temporary Failure
This can only be achieved when you scrap or give up on an idea.

Long Term Failure
This doesn't mean you have a long strand of temporary failures, this is when someone simply gives up on a dream or in our cases, internet marketing completely.

You can't fail at internet marketing until you simply give up.

I want to go more into the definition of failure and the fear of failure, but let's touch base on why people fail first.

1) They're scared of never achieving the results desired. It's common and normal to think "I just don't know if I'm ever going to make it" or even "I don't know if I can do this."

2) They rush into something too fast or they're going into something they clearly have no passion for. I once saw a sign by a rich realtor that said "Work like you don't need the money." Why? Why would you work like you don't need the money? You're clearly working FOR the money!

Well, this is where that passion comes in. If you don't thoroughly enjoy what you're doing, why are you doing it? At that point, it becomes a job and a means of supplementing income to live rather than a career which is something you could do everyday without ever stressing about it.

3) People want the magic bullet. While it's a great thought to be able to download a product that promises $500 a minute by clicking some button on a software, we have to eventually wake up to reality. The only magic bullet you're going to get is being re-born into a wealthy family or winning the lottery.

The point is: You have to do something. Even if a great idea is handed to you on a silver platter, if you do nothing, then nothing will be achieved.

You're Going To Fail

So here we are, back at the fear of failure yet again. People have this undying fear of failure but they're afraid to take that risk and find out. Some people are in unfortunate economic circumstances that require substantial cash immediately and they can't afford to risk the time wasted on something and some people are just utterly terrified of the thought of failing.

Some of the most successful internet marketers in the business today, had an undying fear of failing as well and had some embarrassing failures themselves. Some of them were sued by government, some of them ran business into the ground and some of them just straight out refused to take action.

What If?

What if they would have never taken action?
What if fear always kept them right where they were?
What if fear kept them from launching that product or implementing that idea?
What if fear kept them from starting a business in the first place?

Where would they be? They would more than likely be working a 9-5 job or maybe they would find a nice career that they like outside of the internet marketing world.

Fear in the Internet Marketing world is a lot like fear in the dating world. In the dating world, you have what's called Approach Anxiety. This when you're simply too scared to walk up to a girl and introduce yourself due to the fear of rejection. This comes from a deep level root of genetics. Back in the stone days and even in later times, if you approached someone of higher class without permission or the wrong person in general, you were stoned.

The worst thing that can happen today? A simple "not interested" would suffice and you can move onto someone else.

That's it! You're not going to be stoned to death if you fail on a website launch or an internet marketing venture, the internet will simply tell you "not interested" and you then have two choices. Go back after it, tweak it and make improvements or you can go onto something else. Don't let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game.

I know a lot of Warriors out there are stuck in this place and are stuck in this circle of not taking action, but there's really no other words that I can give you accept for TAKE ACTION NOW! Whether your idea is small or big, you're never going to know what could possibly come of it unless you DO IT!

A lot of times, your ventures will fail! You WILL FAIL! However, you will not fear it because failure is a motivator. A motivator to do better next time and to re-think the strategy for doing so.

I hope you're motivated, dedicated and leaving the fear of failure behind you.

Cheers,
Corey

I agree with all the points which you have mentioned interestingly. This is first time i have come across this type of thread. The moral is not to give up at any cost. No matter if you cannot achieve your desired goals. There is always ups & downs in every plan. Just move on & ignore the failures in your path. Fear is just in our mind so neglect it & go for your planned goals for successful life.

Awesome stuff! True indeed, you can fail over and over but as long as you don't give up and truly commit to learning from your failure and seeing where you can improve you will achieve success.

Another perspective is to make sure you enjoy the journey of success and be happy while achieving your goals. Many of us give too much importance to the destination itself that we miss out on the journey.

There has to be a balance of knowing you are not yet where you want to be but you are grateful you are ahead of where you used to be =-)

Your Path = The road to success and financial freedom
Failures = You should be warned, sometimes objects aren't as they appear. Even a victory might just be a failure in disguise. You'll never know if you simply give up, that's when it truly becomes a failure.

You have to define what it means to win and what it means to fail. Everyone will have different definitions of what it means to fail and what it means to win in any given circumstance.

Remember, you don't ever FAIL until you give up. I see a short term failure as nothing more than a hurdle and a learning experience.

A lot of people will say it's about the journey and getting from point A to point B and a lot of people will say it's about the chase. Some people want an easy button to just hand them riches and their ultimate goal on a platter and some people would truly prefer to work hard for their ultimate goal so it has more meaning.

Amazing post Corey. For most people, "just do it" is enough to motivate them and help them get over their deep-rooted fears. The way you articulated it so thoroughly really helps people see their fear of failure for what it really is, a construct of their own doing.

Look at your post, you literally broadcasted your self-doubt and lack of belief in yourself. If you "know your stuff" and learn champion selling it won't matter how poor your English is! As long as you are knowledgeable, confident, and build rapport people will buy from you. That's my opinion. How come my opinion of you and what you are capable is different than yours?

Luckily if you live in the U.S.A you can turn temporary Internet marketing failure into long-term failure and still benefit from it. How? Give up Internet marketing, vote for President Obama, and let the government take care of your for the next 4 years.

Since this is a success, power, and self improvement thread I thought I would just throw out this idea, since I heard an ad the other day promoting food stamps and how people are more healthy in the U.S. thanks to them.
