Are you in it for 'just' the money?

No, this isn't a guru-bashing thread : )

Have you ever noticed how most successful & rich people are often not behind the money? They do what they do because they're passionate about it: creating good customer experiences, helping make a difference in the world etc.

I am yet to come across someone who'd say - at least in front of a large audience - that they were in it for the money. That they did what they did because they wanted a ton of cash. They set a figure as a goal, and then went behind it with full force.

Maybe it's because it would sound awfully selfish (and perhaps politically incorrect?) to say so in front of many people.

And this mindset pervades among the people - anyone who's in it for the money is a bad guy/gal.

Do you agree? Would you be ok with saying that you're in it for the money?

Personally, I have no qualms about saying that I am in it for the money. I know what car I wanna ride, I know what car I want my family to ride in, I know what kind of house I am looking for. And all of that boils down to being able to create that lifestyle from what I do.

Yes, I LOVE internet marketing and software development, but money is at least equally as important to me.

Sure, I am not gonna 'stoop' to a level where I have to cheat people out of their money.

But I do want to be able to afford the lifestyle I've planned and happily so.

What do you think? Are you in the just for the money? Am I wrong in thinking this way?
