I was listening to a "Yes" song today and six words in the song struck me as saying it all when it comes to success....

"You have to "want" to succeed"

It made me reflect on how I see a lot of people that believe that they want to succeed, but it seems in reality, that many just "try" to succeed. Never putting that "want" into their efforts.

A big difference I believe... between "want" (I mean really want) and "try"

Thought I'd share the moment

That's a really good point. If you know you want something, the motivation to succeed is far greater than just trying something. Do it or don't do it, don't try.

True desire to succeed and a belief in your ability to do so is definitely the key. Some people say, "But I DO want it!" But they don't truly want it. Just just say they do.

I've always looked at it like this:

If you want anything, all you have to do is remove the "I want" from the thought, and all you're left with is what you have.

Like, if I say, "I want a new pair of shoes." and then take out the "I want", all I have left is.... A new pair of shoes! bwaahahahaaa

Okay, enough of my nlp humor =P

I agree with what you say in some cases but not for all. To be fair - I think that many people really do 'want' to succeed and they are putting 100 percent effort into it. They refer to themselves as still 'trying' to succeed, not because they are being half hearted, but because they haven't yet found out 'how' to convert their hard work into reliable income sources.

But why haven't they found out yet? What do they need to do to find out? Today the information of the world is at our fingertips.
Also, success is not the end of the journey, the way I see it, success is the journey.

If you Enjoy it today, then indeed you are successful.

It's kinda like that one youtube clip I've seen

You got to want to be successful, as bad as you want to breathe.

You got that right! I think sometimes people lose track or have never really defined what success is. I don't believe it is just money, but rather living a fullfilling, giving life. That is true success in my mind.

Let's have a show of hands by the people that smile when they awake?
Isn't that what we are really looking for?

How about you replace "You have to 'want' to succeed" to "You have to 'need' to succeed."

There's a big difference between "want" and "need."

Who wants a million dollars? I believe many of us want it.. but how many of us actually get it?

Imagine if life tells you to generate at least a million dollars in your next 5 years if not you'll die. Will you achieve that million dollar in 5 years? I don't know man. But will your chances of achieving that million dollar increase? You better bet!

    Thanks for sharing Jesse.

    Have a great weekend,
    Jeremiah

P.S. I'm gonna listen to that song

I need food and air, I don't need a million. No matter what we do, we do it because we want to. We even pay taxes not just because it helps pay for ...ummm...something (not sure what), but we pay because we do not "want" to suffer the consequences. In your scenario we would make that mill because we "wanted" to live. Still our choice....

Another thing to think about is what drives you to succeed, such as your purpose. My purpose is keeping my wife happy by having her see me at home everyday instead of working long hours at a corporate job away from home.

    I also believe on "want"
    not try .
What is try ?How it looks like ?
I just believe on "want by heart ",
    and it works.

forget want .. or need ... do you have an expectation of success ..many times we only allow that which we can bring ourselves to expect ..
most people don't expect to succeed .. in fact they don't even bother defining what success would be for them .. they pull thing from here and there to chase after that they expect will make them look successful..

was micheal jackson really successful or was he just really rich with a lot of toys .. if he had a life he really wanted .. would he have died from taking massive amounts of different prescribed drugs to make him feel better..

There are several "successful" relationship authors with many broke marriages .. i think diangelas and grey where even married and divorced from each other.. or two of the big names any way ..

write your own story of success then live it .. that is what i am trying to do right now ..
