For Those Who Use Music

Hey all,

I know many of you use music to motivate. I love music, it is on in my office all the time (except when I am making videos or on client calls).

I found a new (new to me, I should say) genre of music that has been working to change my mood and motivate. It is trailer music. Now I listen to lots of soundtracks, so I don't mean soundtrack music. I mean music that is written to be Trailer Music.

Some of the artists in this genre are: Thomas Bergersen, Future World Music, Two Steps From Hell, and AudioMachine. I'll go find some clips on YouTube and put them in a thread here, so you can have a listen to what I'm talking about.

Edit: this 'genre' doesn't have music videos, so they always use fantasy-type stills as the visual side of the video clips.

I use this kind of music during workouts all the time.

My wife says it is too Epic to listen to alone. :-)

OK, here are some clips. I picked a few random ones. Hope you enjoy this, and maybe even find some new music!

    First, from AudioMachine

    Second, from Thomas Bergersen

Third, from Two Steps From Hell

    Lastly, from Future World Music

I could totally see how this helps! I prefer Bach's keyboard works, so precise and exacting, puts me in the perfect mood to work and work! Everyone that's in the work from home crowd doesn't realize how good they have it!

Love trailer music. Also try e.s. posthumus. Another great group (they do the NFL on CBS theme).

Music is a must and helps concentration. I like ambient, future garage, dub, downtempo to relax.

Music is pretty much always playing when I am working. I am mostly listening to rap and songs about making money. Favorites are Rick Ross and Meek Mill.

Good stuff! My personal preference is smooth jazz when I am working and rock / classic rock when I am doing domestic chores.

This one is great for cleaning the kitchen and doing dishes

I listen to soundtracks sometimes, but never thought of listening to trailer music. Fun idea.

Trailer music has to produce emotions otherwise folks won't go see the movie, right? So that's why you probably find it motivating - cause it's supposed to be .

Will give it a try myself.

I find that music can help me become more creative, especially when I have to work on a certain project.

It can help condition the mind and get you in the right mood for when you feel like doing something. When I'm trying to write a few more articles, I find that listening to something just helps me get the ball rolling.

Warren - I sometimes listen to trailer music when I want to do something creative, like write or make graphics, it sparks the imagination for me. I especially like the epic and dramatic stuff.

I discovered this music for myself years ago when that commericial for US Marines was on TV that had a knight on horseback on chessboard. Rememeber that? Great background music. I could never find it though, but I found a lot of other good stuff. If anyone does know that song post the name or a link to it, whatever.

    Here's something you might like...

And on the off chance you've never heard this because you look pretty young...

I'm jealous of all of you that can listen to music while working. I just can't concentrate with background noise. Back in school, I had no issues doing homework with the TV on in the background. Must be getting old.

Or you're llstening to the wrong kind of music, or have it too loud. I like music without words and keep the volume low when I want to get things done creatively and efficiently.
