Stop being so judgemental

Hey Everyone, Hope you are all doing good

So today whilst looking through the motivation side of this Forum, I once again came across the post from someone asking for similar movies to "The Secret". I must have seen that thread a gazillion times by now! Each time, I passed on checking the film out since the name did not appeal to me? I mean really, how judgemental can you get?

Today I decided to finally look at the film and WOW. It has truly inspired me and got me interested in the Law of Attraction. Before that sounded stupid and I said to myself "That will be some stupid and uninteresting thing...". Boy was I wrong, it is incredibly fascinating and I am getting ready to watch the film a second time round.

I seem to do this a lot, instead of inspecting things and giving them a chance, I look over them as then eventually discover them and regret not looking at them sooner.

So I am going to force myself to not be so judgemental and give things a chance. I believe we all do it to a certain degree and it is something that I do not like about myself. I am going to stop it once and for all!

Any one else feel like trying this out?

Have a great day!

I understand and agree to an extent.

However, much of the time that we spend looking for the next big thing or giving something new a chance should be spent on doing what we already know to be doing. So judging something as "not now" isn't necessarily bad - sometimes it's exactly what we need to do.

In other words if I'm not learning and applying the books and advice and videos and websites I have access to already, chances are that I won't use the new stuff either. Maybe we should focus more on using what we already have and get off (or lessen) the never ending search for the big secret that will make it all better.

    My 2 cents.

Very good points there. To be truthful I had not thought of it that way.

Trouble is I often judge a thread or a source and then end up looking over other threads. It is hard to explain but I hope you kind of understand what I am trying to say? For example, lets look at the example I gave, the film "The Secret". I had been wanting to watch a motivational film and I judged that film by it's name? Talk about judging a book by it's cover.

I see where your coming from and I agree totally when it comes to work, yet when it comes to personal objects I need to stop

    Thanks

I chose entrepreneurship over further education despite being laughed at by my friends and family..

I recently hit the "RESTART" button on my life, read my personal blog to find out how I did it :)

I understand your point and have been guilty of the same judging about the Secret and many other things that just don't feel right or match my personality.

For sure I could be limiting myself by not learning more. I mean, for example, if you start talking about burning incense and chanting fixing all your problems than I will probably make a snap judgment - rightly or wrongly.

Incense and chanting may be just what I need though. But while keeping an open mind I've learned that for me I have to figure out how to do what I already know how to do or I stay on that hamster wheel.

For example, some people get all excited about the health benefits of vitamins sold by a new opportunity company. They justify joining because the vitamins are good and you really need vitamins and...

However, if you aren't willing to take the cheap, generic, Walmart brand consistently then you are just wasting your time and money on the special vitamins. That's because the problem doesn't lie in the vitamins (cheap or expensive) but lies in your inability to follow through consistently and do what you already know you need to do. Once you can consistently take the cheap ones then by all means look into other or better sources if you wish.

The same goes for any program, opportunity, product in any area - exercise, self improvement, business, health, etc. If we don't have the self discipline to use what we have now, we're just procrastinating and wasting time looking for something else.

Sometimes it takes hearing or seeing the same thing a gazillion times for it to sink in. I remember 20 something years ago buying some Tony Robbins tapes and skipping everything except the make money part...

To my disappointment at the time all it really said was "Gratitude was the key to success".

Took me 15 years to realize how true that is after hearing it from multiple sources then APPLYING it.

I thought this was going to be about not being judgmental towards others, so I came in.

I decided that I'd write about that then.

You know, one of the most harmful emotions is guilt and shame. And, one of the most harmful things we do to each other is judge each other so harshly (as well as judging ourselves) for not being "good enough"....

Well, you are good enough, you are enough and no one has a right to judge you.

Sure, we can judge actions, and there should be consequences for our actions. But, you know what I mean. In general, we shouldn't be so hard on ourselves, and each other.

Do you know how many people are lonely? Are craving connection? Feel bad about themselves, their lives, their mistakes.....

Do you know how many people would perk up at the smallest amount of encouragement, a pat on the back, a little support and understanding, even some empowerment?

Do you know that person will NEVER forget how YOU made them FEEL?

People forget your name but they don't forget your face. People forget what you say, but they don't forget how you made them feel. People are so wrapped up in themselves they don't even notice you - until you notice them.

Some people go years feeling unnoticed, invisible, insignificant and not cared about.

Folks, a little love can go a long way in this world.

Who can you smile at today? Who can you NOT judge today? Who can you encourage today? Inspire, Empower, Teach....Notice... and you will be forever rewarded.

My dad forced me to watch the video and read the book a couple of years ago. I was very reluctant in the beginning too. Turns out it was quite an interesting watch and read. Have I really applied it, maybe not, but I'm trying my best

I actually bought "The Secret" book and the law of attraction can be hard to achieve at times especially when negative vibes are just around the corner. But oh well, I'm a work in progress so I guess I'll eventually learn to follow the laws of attraction.

There's definitely merit to the secret.

Listen to what Marcus said; avoid bad vibes and negative people like the plague.

The secret to The Secret is that the secret is in The Secret but not The Secret.
