I did not have to want to worry about money. While those are valiant aspirations, they seemed to lead me to just having more worries and concerns as opposed to being in a position where I was moving closer to those goals.
I am typing this message at 9:36 on a Sunday morning. I slept in later today than I usually do because last night was an unusual night. I took my 2.5 year old daughter to her first first sleep over. We came to m aunt's house in the East Village of Manhattan.
We stayed up way past our bedtime, ate junk food, watched movies until she finally passed out around 1:30 this morning. My daughter is still passed out and does not seem to be getting up any time soon. These are the things that I really want to do with my life.
I have come quite a distance in achieving my financial goals and I still have quite a bit further to go but what I realized that there is no point in waiting until I achieve my goals to start doing the things that I want to do.
I also have a time pressure because my daughter will only be 2.5 one time.
I am lucky that most of my goals have more to do with spending time with the family and creating the freedom to do that, then goals that cost a lot of money.
Nevertheless, it is critical that I and you live the lifestyle that we want today, as opposed to waiting until we hit all of our goals.
Now, don't get me wrong. I still work very hard. I am typing a blog post (one of my core commitments) on a Sunday morning. However, as soon as I am done (and as soon as my little princess wakes up), we have a full day of soccer, trips to the zoo and fun meals planned (hopefully, more healthy than yesterday)
Here is your challenge for today -
Plan the most fun thing that you can do for yourself for today. It does not have to be extravagant. It just needs to be something that you want to do that you would not otherwise do for yourself.
What if Today Was Your Last Day?
I am going to go to a comedy show tonight (because I wanted to go for a long time).
When you get back, leave a comment on what you did.
Enjoy your day.
