Do you use a calender?

To be honest I'm making this post because I need to start somewhere, and this is something that's been paying on my mind.

I read a lot of personal development and business blogs, and they all say that organization is key. I tried to use a calender and it hasn't helped me stay organized at all, I used the one on my phone so that I could have it at my fingertips when I'm on the move but I only tend to check it when I'm putting something on it (which is rarely even though I have a hectic) and never check it again.

Then again, I'm not an organized person.

So, do you use a calender and do you find it effective?

Oh man do I use a calendar and can't tell you enough how helpful and beneficial it has been, not only in my personal life but for business as well.

Every December I buy a new one and make sure the dates are big enough to write in a lot of info for the day.

Some things I use it for are:
What major things I did for the day, deadlines, goals, recurring income expenses so I know when to have a certain amount of money in any of my accounts (like PayPal), how many coins I've added to my collection for the month, what books I've finished reading, writing interesting and inspirational quotes I've found online or in books, etc. etc.

Using a calendar is an absolute must

    Yes calendars RULE!

Except, I like the ones where you can write in them. Not a fan of personal electronic organization honestly.

I use 3 whiteboards. 1 as my To Do List for household/personal/business. 2 is my checklist of what I must do that day woke up at 8/exercised/took vitamins/etc. 3rd one is my calendar stating important dates for goals/dinners/ etc.

It seems like a lot of whiteboard, but I prefer it to a notebook or electronic device. I just look up and they are there to remind me. Plus I love to check and cross things out! Helps me feel like I achieved something!

I actually use Google Calendar -- the 30 day view only though. That way I can keep up with exams, assignments, when I work, etc. Also helps for when I get my pay check so I can go back and count up my hours to make sure there were no errors. I have a ton of stuff on my Google Calendar and I couldn't live without it. I used to have more than one, as I had one for school and one for work, but right now I'm managing with one calendar.

I was never a fan of electronic calendars before Google Calendar. Before this I would do it by hand. I love my google calendar because it is synced with my Android and so I can check my calendar at school, work, etc. I always have it open in another tab/window - ALWAYS! It's always there to remind me to continually check it daily. It's a fantastic service.

I'd recommend a calendar or agenda, 100%! It's really changed my time management. Not only am I getting more things done, but the little free time I have is now spent more wisely and enjoyed to a higher degree.

    Best of luck!

Have you ever met an astounding success?

I can't claim that I'm one; but I've encountered many throughout my life.

    Championship athletes, poets, businessmen, whatever.

Do you know one thing they all have in common? They have a refined regimen.

One thing to consider, is that if you don't have a plan, there's a good chance you're going in the wrong direction.

Imagine running towards success; sounds great right?

Well, if you don't have a plan, and map that in accordance with a calendar; odds are, you could be running towards failure; sounds scary right?

In other words; I think having an organized planning system is paramount to your success, whether you're an entrepreneur, scuba diver, professional soccer player, or a pastry chef.

Make plans, and win. Simple as that.

PS: What I do, is have a folder on my desktop with a few text files. I'll have a text file called "Today", one called "This Week", and one called "This Month". See for me, if the planning isn't dead easy to control, I won't even bother. But, everyone is different. Find out what works best for you, then take action.

But remember what I said about taking action; make sure you're headed in the right direction. What good is a calendar if your plan sucks?

    Food for thought. Good luck

I use google calendar, and also have a triple sliding door that can also be used as a massive whiteboard. I also use some software that gives an alert when a certain amount of time has passed ,and start the next task in hand.

Yes, I use a calendar. Google Calendar is fantastic. You can post on it at any time. It even integrates with your Android phone. You can even receive SMS alerts for reminders if you might need to do so. Highly recommended!
