Keep Your Mind Fresh and Creative?
The book calls for inhibited writing, whenever you do not know what to write about or want to get at your best ides.
When you free write, you begin to bypass your conscious mind and tap right into your subconscious, where the juiciest and best stuff that you have available to you is stored.
I have used free writing to make decisions in the past and as the basis for some of my best blog posts.

Here are some strategies that I would suggest if you want to start trying out some free writing today -
Pick an Objective or a Target - It is good to know where you are going with your writing before you get started. Most likely, you will wind up in a much different and better position. That is OK because if you were clear on where you were going and exactly what you needed to write from the start, then there would have been no reason to bypass your conscious mind in the first place.
Ease into the writing - There is no reason to rush. You can take it easy and just kind of inch your way into your. This is a satisfying way of doing the work that you need to do and you will find if you take this approach, you will soon get into a groove where the words are just flowing out of your mouth and are flowing out of our mouth quickly and with inspiration. If you try to force it form the beginning, your results may not be nearly as good.
Explore ideas that you do not necessarily believe - We all have our points of view that are formulated from past experiences. This points of view are good for us and help us to survive in the World. However, we also have some points of view that are limiting and can get in the way of our success. If you can explore ideas that contradict your traditional beliefs, you may find that you are better off in the long run and will also find that you have a more developed perspective on the work that you are doing.
Write until the timer goes off - Set a timer for yourself in your writing and write until the timer goes off. The best work will usually come out of you when you are tired and do not want to do anything else. Keep writing at this point and you will find that you can go to places that you did not think that you go with your writing. It is liberating and fulfilling.
I am a huge fan of free writing to access my best thoughts and my best work. It also helps me to realize what I can be doing better. Even as I am writing this post, I realize that there are things that I want to do with my writing that I am not necessarily doing with this post. I thought that I was writing abut free writing but I have started to get some other lessons that I can start using for some of my other posts that will make a huge difference for me moving forward.
