How do you stay positive daily

I am already having a hard and negative day... how do you all keep working towards your goals even after a bad day?

Know that you're alive and breathing. Be thankful for the things you do have instead of commiserating for the things you don't have.
Negative attracts more negative so if you stay positive, you'll soon feel more positive.

This was a big problem of mine. No matter how happy or positive my day or week is going, there are just some days that bring me down that I couldn't do anything about.

I had to learn to find my problems by tracing it all back to myself. I've learned to embrace these days and learn from them. Figuring out what I did to make the problematic day and learning from it.

Those days are slowly disappearing though. I find the more I want to help people - without expecting anything in return - the better I feel about myself and my Life because as I strive to make their Lives better, I am constantly improving mine. When I motivate and inspire them to stick to their goals, I motive and inspire myself to do the same. We are all one and by helping others you are helping yourself.

      Go exercise!
      Get your blood flowing.

Bad Moods come from 3 things.
      Lack of nutrition/energy.
      Internalizing outside influences negatively
      Chemical Imbalance

Diet, exercise, and meditation/prayer fixes the nasties for me.

      Hope that helps!

      Keep on rocking it!!!

      I do couple of things:

      1. I have a board with all my personal and business goals in front of me and I read them every morning out-load before I start to work. It puts me in the right mood.

      2. I have a page with all the things I am grateful for in my life and I also read it out-load every morning. It reminds me I'm lucky that I get to do what I love and that I have so much good things in my life I have no reason to be down.

      3. I exercise. I love it and it gives me great energies to start my day.

      4. And if I am really down and can't do anything I take a break and read a few pages from one of the inspiring books I have, for example: "Poke the Box" by Seth Godin and "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill.

Hope you will find it useful...

These are all great responses and I they all work for the various ailments of feeling negative.

However, I have come to believe that part of life is having ups and downs and it is how you deal with those obstacles that makes you who you are. If you believe in the after life then consider this experience as a test of your own free will..

Yes I think that thinking about at least 10 things you are grateful for is a great mood lifter. They can be very simple things - don't make them too complex. I am sure that you can think of some including friends and family in your life.

Gratitude is a very powerful force. Meditate and release the negative feels that you are now feeling.

We all have our ups an downs..
But the best thing I find I can do when I get a bit down (especially first thing in thee morning.) is to write a list of things I want to accomplish that day.

Then just run through them and tick off each one as I accomplish my goals.

For me, nothing makes me feel better (well ok.. a few things do) than accomplishing my tasks.

    Good luck.

I used to be depressed all the time. And then I started reading spiritual books and particularly those on Gratitude. One suggestion is to make a list of at least 10 things you are grateful for everyday. Your health, being able to see, hear, walk, watch the sunrise, hear the laughs of kids, etc...If you keep focusing on all the positive factors in your life, it will become a habit an you will be less likely to become negative. Also remember that you attract in your life what you think about. So it's worth the effort of careful watching your thoughts and applying yourself to make the switch to a more positive thought when you catch yourself being negative. The more you do it consciously, the more natural it becomes.

Yes really having the thought of thankfulness even if we were in a worse condition will definitely help us to get out of it and gives us some strength and confidence to face the situations. Also repeating some powerful positive affirmations in mind will work better to overcome the negative feelings and stress.

Everybody has their own reasons why they are negative, unhappy etc. This is going to take some understanding from your point of view. As all the other posts have suggested, exercise, nutrition etc. They will help but sometimes we have our own reasons which are hard for others to know unless they are close friends or family. Just try to find what makes you feel happy and do that and whatever makes you feel unhappy well... stop doing that. Sure its deeper than that but it is all about emotions and how we feel. We all do everything in life to try to achieve the feelings of happiness.

Along with what all the other members had suggested my contribution would be to stay away from any type of news. Don't watch news, don't read news papers, don't listen to news radio. News is sensationalistic to attract the focus of the listener and most attention is given when the news is bad so say away.

After 30 years of trying I found something that really
      makes sense and worked!
Understand your thoughts and reprogram your mind.
Learn how to take control of your life and move in the
direction you want. Make the decision to change your life now.

On the subject of supplementation for assisting in mood elevation, Inositol has been proven to improve mood and dependent on your age, DHEA may be of help also. To get a good nights sleep naturally, I occasionally take GABA which has such a relaxing effect and makes you sleep very soundly which is another important factor in being able to cope with stress and maintain a good mental attitude. These are all safe alternatives which have no harmful effects on the body.

  • A good support system also helps. When I first started working as a VA, I felt really lonely because most of the people I know, family included, didn't understand what I was doing and they didn't think it was a "real" job. That's when I started reaching out to other VAs. It really helped talking to other people who understood what I was doing and could relate to what I was going through. Now we actually make it a point to meet once a week to talk about our jobs and families.

If I am having a bad day or in a slump mood, I stop working and take time to myself to reflect on my goals, where I plan to be in the next year and I focus on strategies on how to get there. Its important to take some time for yourself.

Here are my strategies for staying positive and reducing stress.

-Take a walk out in the woods, get in touch with nature to feel grounded.

-Get off the computer and have real conversations with people around me, friends, family and meet new people in different fields of works.

-Play with my pets and nurture them helps reduce my anxiety

-Take a hot shower, go for a swim, look out into the ocean, drink a cup of hot tea. Water helps calm and sooth the soul.

-Go for a jog or a hike outdoors

        -Listen to upbeat tempo music

        -Eat healthy organic foods

I find that once I am feeling stressed or feeling negative, I get off the computer. The computer produces a lot of electromagnetic waves that affect our mentality. It is addictive and this overwhelming need to make money can be very stressful on one's psyche. Good Luck.

It can be tough to stay focused and positive, and we can't expect to remain in that state 100% of the time. It's okay to take some "down time" when we need to, but we've got to make sure to bounce back and get back in the groove as soon as possible.

    Two things to consider:

First, if you are experiencing some blahs, take a break! Change your scenery for a little while. Make up your mind that when you return to your work you will take a more positive approach to it.

Second, ahead of time, be very, very clear on your goals and your purpose for doing the business you are doing. Remember, we need short term goals to keep us focused from day to day, and we need a primary long term goal that keeps us focused on our purpose and the payoff at the end.

When you are experiencing the blahs, take a break, then come back and spend a few minutes visualizing your Big Goal and the anticipated payoff. Ask yourself what one thing you can do over the next hour that will support your goal or move you a bit closer towards it.

When I need to pump up the positive, I review my long term Internet income goals and that usually inspires me to renewed action!

sometimes you learn some useful things when you have had a bad day. Maybe not on the actual day itself as it is too enjoyable being unhappy to snap out of it (otherwise why else would you do it?)

I try to view things not so much as good or bad but as a chance to either earn or learn.
If you have a bad day, its an opportunity. ask yourself some useful questions and give yourself a break!

I agree with everything that's been listed so far.

For me, the mood comes from lack of success. It seems I work like crazy and get nowhere but tired. Without success, the job becomes more difficult and less fulfilling.

What I've learned from this is that you have to take a look at what you're doing and how you're doing it. If you are not succeeding, it's very likely your methods and systems, how you are doing your marketing, etc.

As they say, you can't keep doing the same things and expect a different result. Maybe for you, it's time to look at new ideas to boost your business, if that's where your bad moods are coming from.

It's also important to get out and be with people, whether to discuss business or just to socialize. I find that being home alone, although not a problem for me, can leave me feeling down when nothing else is going right. Recently, I started mingling with people my own age at a local club. It takes my mind off business and being home. I have a lot of fun doing various activities, like playing pool and volunteering on the special events committee. It's work, but it's also a lot of fun. Plus it gives me a lot of opportunity to exercise my creativity, which is always fulfilling for me.

I began that several months ago, and now I'm getting back the excitement to work on my business.

If you think being alone is affecting your mood, try something like this. It's certainly working for me.

Not everyone succeeds at this. I know it as I myself hopelessly keep failing at it almost daily. Part of the problem is I do not yet have clear defined goals, yet.
This adds to the consistent suffering going on due to ever present non-achievement. Sometimes (read "mostly") nothing seems to work.

If negativity gets overbearing, i would find my solace and rant out quiet or loud(whatever surroundings allow for), and possibly hit a wall or something to that order. Finally get myself empty.

    At the end it helps.

Since a few days I have started taking out about 5 minutes a day to pray. Found it helped effectively.

You can possibly not stop negative thought entering inside, but can stop them from lingering on, by replacing with thoughts that you choose to have.

    My thoughts.

  • I think there is a common thread in all of the posts.

You have to break the negative trend and start a positive trend. It is as simple as that.

All of the tips mentioned work -
    1. Read a book
    2. Go for a walk
    3. Exercise
    4. Review your goals

Your mood comes from the momentum of your thoughts. Positive momentum will bring you in a positive direction.

Negative momentum will do the opposite.

For me the daily or minor goals are set on paper. What and how much work it will take to achieve the days minor goa,l that will depends on 2 things:

    1. If your minor goals are actually achievable Or rather, if you set yourself up for failure by planning to much in 1 day.

    2. By eliminating procrastination by spending to much time doing activities that I call time wasters which could but are not limited too

    1.talking
    2.socializing
    3.piddling around etc.

The trick is to keep your head down and work as fast as you can in order to keep yourself on task.

At lunch time or if you are a business owner like myself you could set a scheduled time to read an inspiring chapter or two of a motivational book, listen to a motivational seminar, a soothing mind cd, or anything that will pick up your spirits that will make you hum the rest of the day.

If you are finding that you are feeling this way every day you could try getting a little more sleep at night. If this still doesn't work you may need to see a doctor because you might have some thing physically wrong.

    Good luck

I believe in keeping a positive attitude no matter what. Every time I have a negative mood/thought, I picture something that makes me happy. I picture my kids smiling and that usually puts me into a good mood.

What you focus on has a commanding influence on your outlook and attitude. When I allow myself to dwell on disappointments, setbacks, mistakes, bad situations, etc., my mood starts to plummet. But if I choose to focus on the positive aspects of my life, situation, etc., my mood rises.

There will, of course, always be tough situations, setbacks, disappointments, or tragedies that will try to derail our positive focus. When those occur, I think of Martha Washington's great quote:

"I am determined to be cheerful and happy in whatever situation I may find myself. For I have learned that the greater part of our misery or unhappiness is determined not by our circumstance but by our disposition." -Martha Washington

Exercise! No matter what you have to change the state you are in right now. Get blood flowing through your body. Watch a motivational video or listen to some music you love. Remind yourself that somebody always has it worse than yourself. Humble yourself and you will not be so down on yourself when things are not going the way you want.

Just think that tomorrow will be a better day. And usually after getting a good nights rest it is. And remind myself that I love my life and that I am only given as much as I can truly handle.

Take a deep breath and just think that tomorrow will be a better day. You can not have great days every day. Even the most successful person has off or bad days. Just remember that and you will be fine. Everyone has hard days, that is what allows us to grow.

Thank you sweetcrabhoney18 for beginning this thread. It is always a subject that comes up from time-to-time in my mind.

Good advice seems to be easy to come by, but great advice and counsel is not so common.

I would be very appreciative to whomever has additional input to this thread. What works for you?

I generally try to develop a positive attitude towards what went wrong. I know this is difficult for most people to do however, this is the only way that keeps you calm, collected and focused on how to get out of a drastic situation.

You have gotten a lot of good suggestions. For me 3 things make a big difference in staying positive.

    1. Daily to do list. I find when I write things down I want to accomplish everyday and mark them off as I complete them it does wonder for my attitude.

    2. 1-2 walks of 30-60 minutes. The fresh Colorado air clears my head and I sleep better at night.

    3. Take a nap. I take a power nap every afternoon for about 30 minutes and I am really refreshed and ready to work for a couple of hours more.

Wow, so many great thoughts. I think if you have patterns set up - things you do every day - eventually those bad patterns will fall away .. .
