Oh yes, I am definitely addicted to worry. I am guilty of 4 out of those 5.

Fair points, but I'm not convinced too much by number 5.

I wake up constantly during the night and I'm not worried about anything.

Where did you get this from? I ask because it seems to me the only "sure shot sign" of the bunch is number three. Let's look at these from another point of view...

    1. Do You Over think a situation?

Fully developed ideas often work out better than going off half-cocked. One persons "over-thinking" could be another persons careful planning.

    2. Do You Spend Most of The Time with Television and Movies?

Everyone I know who spends a lot of time being entertained do so out of boredom.

    3. Do You Always think about the Worst case scenario First?

I tend to agree with you here, but I could probably think of exceptions.

    4. Do You use Drugs, Alcohol or Food to control your Moods and Emotions?

The alcoholics and drug users I've known didn't drink or use out of worry, they drank or used to escape emotional pain from things in their past.

    5. Do You Usually Wake Up in the middle of the night?

    Lots of causes for that.

The point is, sweeping generalities are often wrong for a great number of people.

I figure I'll copy the way Dennis answered these

    1. Do You Over think a situation?

I agree with Dennis on this one, over-thinking isn't always the worst thing to do if it's apart of their plan.

I'd rather be a dumb guy with a plan, rather than a smart guy without a plan

    2. Do You Spend Most of The Time with Television and Movies?

I don't connect this one with worry. Usually if I'm watching TV, movies, playing video games, that's because I'm not worried. I'm more just enjoying my life.

    3. Do You Always think about the Worst case scenario First?

Again, as Dennis said, this is the biggest connection to worry out of the 5. I personally don't always think the worst case scenario, but when I do... I don't think it's so much about being worried, rather than making sure I'm not surprised by an outcome.

When I was living on the streets I always thought someone was going to try and rob or kill me, but that's because it's much more likely when you are in the situation. Whereas when you live in a house, you are protected by walls.

    4. Do You use Drugs, Alcohol or Food to control your Moods and Emotions?

I don't use drugs or alcohol, but I definitely eat when I'm worried... but then again I'm always eating, haha.

My mom is an alcoholic and I'll tell you right now.. the reason for her drinking is definitely because she's worried about where her life is headed and she doesn't feel like she has control.

Thing is... when you drink, you don't have control.

    5. Do You Usually Wake Up in the middle of the night?

Nope. I sleep like a baby.

But when I did, it wasn't because I was worried, it was because I was excited and wanted to work

    3. Do You Always think about the Worst case scenario First?

This one could actually be lumped together with over thinking, but even still this can be a good thing. I make it a point to think and prepare for the worst case scenario, because if you're prepared for the worst then you know that you've covered all your bases and it's almost impossible for you to be caught off guard.

Hope for the best, yet prepare for the worst

I agree. I sometimes over think on a situation in which most of the time leads me to a worst case scenario, i began to worry. Mind you it's unhealthy that way.

Actually, these have very little to do with worry. As noted, you can answer yes to all of these and NOT have a worry problem. And you can't be "addicted" to worry.

If you are concerned about worrying, ask yourself:
    1. Are you a worrier?
    2. Does your worry interfere with life in any way?
If you answered yes, then you might have some work to do.

And here's a good assessment: Screening for Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) | Anxiety and Depression Association of America, ADAA

    Hope that helps.

Numbers 1 and 3 are the ones I fall under the most, especially 3.

I sleep like a baby most nights because working 9-5 jobs for over a decade really made me cherish sleep..
