When it RAINS it POURS

Wow, this week can't get any worse. First my best friend passed away a couple days ago. And now, my girlfriends parents wants her to break up with me because they believe that I'm worthless.

Sure, it's natural that I'll be bummed about this, but I will not back down. I will fight this, and I will prove them and myself wrong that I am NOT worthless.

Sorry man. This year started off rough for me too. First I got a nasty virus and was sick for almost 3 weeks. During that time, a childhood friend died, someone else I know died, then my wife's uncle died. Then my computer got a virus via email that wiped out my inbox, including recent customer testimonials, purchase receipts, personal email and more.

Here's the thing though ... I'm still alive and so are you. We'll get through it. We'll come out stronger. Life isn't always easy, but it does allow us to shape it to our liking to a great degree. Keep carving your days until you shape life the way you want it to be.

Don't let anyone tell you what your worth is either. YOU decide that. No one has any power over your inner world unless you give it to them. Don't give away your power to those who don't believe in you. Believe in yourself and make your life into your idea of what you want to be. Know where you want to go and go there.

Stay strong, and I'll see you at the top!

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.

Very true, Sir Dennis. Your post reminded me of a saying by Dr. John Demartini, "When the vision and voice within becomes clearer and louder than what's on the outside, you have truly mastered your life."

GGPaul, you can do it man! You are worthy, YOU ARE! YOU ARE! YOU ARE!

      Take care,

  • GGpaul,

Here's some insight from a father of 5, 4 girls and a boy. Parents look at their children's friends through the eyes of experience.

Their experience tells them a person's worth is measured by their continued work ethic and if they have and keep a job.

Also who they associate themselves with also plays a big factor.

But the #1 all time character destroyer young men and women find themselves in is avoiding the parents.

You must stay engaged with the parents. Seek them out and make yourself available to them to assist them in any way.

If you resist them in any way you only widen that gap between you and them.

Young people hate it, but in real life it's the politics of being a boyfriend or girlfriend. Because one day if you should get married the girl isn't marrying you, you are marrying into her family.

    Good Luck

I know how hard it is to digest, but at times we can find peace in the fact that "Nothing is permanent in this world"

    Sorry you're going through a rough time! Here's something I learned a while back, when I was going through difficulty;

How about not fighting and not resisting? Some things just suck and there's no getting around it; but the more you dwell on them, the worse you feel. Acknowledge that you feel awful - you're entitled to your feelings - and instead of focusing on WHY you feel awful, focus on the feeling itself. Feel the waves of emotions and your body's reactions and ride them out by holding your focus on the feeling until it passes (it will, very quickly IF you don't let yourself think about the source of your misery). This is an amazing, effective way to feel better and come out of a funk quickly. Then, you can choose something positive and creative to think about and it opens you up to seeing the silver lining.

Tried and true, in my own experience!
