How committed are you?

Hey guys,

I just felt inspired to share this:

Emotions have NOTHING to do with your commitment to success.

It's clear to me that the reason we procrastinate or refuse to do the things we intend to do is because of some kind of subconscious fear that we haven't overcome. Often times we let these emotions dictate what we do or don't do.

But what if you were committed? What difference would it make?

What if your excuses and all your procrastination is a test of your commitment to success?

Now imagine for a moment that you are dating the perfect girl (or guy), and you didn't commit to having a happy and successful relationship. Would she (or he) want to stay with you?

Does it ever make sense to be with someone who is wishywashy or uncommitted? Likewise, if you don't commit to your business, then how likely do you think you would succeed?

So how committed are you?

Are you willing to stay the course regardless of whatever emotions show up?

I'm in a situation right now where I'm experiencing hair loss. I'm not exactly excited by it, but I became determined to change my health completely starting 6 months ago. The result of this is that this is the first winter where I haven't gotten a cold. My backpain has diminished considerably and acne is clearing up very quickly. My body is tremendously more resilient and I have more energy. (BTW, I don't like eating veggies. I drink them, and take quality supplements).

However, I've been overwhelmed with the fact that there is so much information to be gained about how to reverse hairloss through nutrition. But is it stopping me? Not in the least.

Is it easy to give up and go back to eating junk food (which will contribute towards my hair loss)? To a degree, yes, but not really because my desire to be healthy and youthful is far stronger than my desire to eat junk food.

In other words, I am driven to remain looking several years younger than my biological age.

So, here's a tip to help you get committed:

What is your COMPELLING reason to be successful?

Your answer shouldn't be "because I want to make money" because that doesn't compel you, does it? If it did, then you would be doing it!

Even an answer like "to be financially free" probably won't compel you because it may be too vague unless you have a very clear picture of what that looks like and it must totally excite you.

If your reason is to be financially free, and your motivation is based on avoiding pain (i.e. getting away from a terrible job) as opposed to the joy of providing a valuable service to people who want your skills/knowledge/product, then guess what? You will probably only do what it takes to avoid the pain (like procrastination, or constantly getting ready to get ready which just gives the false illusion of 'being busy' and thereby not producing revenue!)

Lastly, if you feel you really can't commit, here's a hint: Perhaps you're in the wrong business!

Hi Jason, great post!:-)... You said at the beginning that your emotions have nothing to do with your commitment to success. Then you say you must have a compelling reason for your success and be excited about it! Isn't excitement and uplifting, happy emotion that puts you in a higher vibration so you are more likely to stay the course and to attract the success that you want?

Yes, you have a valid point! I should've been more careful with my wording.

What I meant was that fear, anxiety and whatever negative emotion you feel should not get in the way of your commitment.

Yes I do encourage feeling more joyful as it make things MUCH easier, but we can still take concrete action even if we really don't feel like it, just like the times when we may not feel happy about doing something that will significantly benefit a relationship.

      Hope this makes sense!

Great post!! I think it is about acknowledging our emotions but checking the disempowering ones at the door you know? Especially if you're really up to creating something big and something that inspires you.

There will always be obstacles, that's part of the journey, but when we have a really compelling reason why we persevere no matter what life throws at us.

Yes if you can not commit to something then you need to be elsewhere. I feel that I am always committed to what I do. I have to be. I like things to be perfect even though it is not always possible. But I commit myself to it and work hard to get it done the right way.

What really makes me committed is my desire to travel. I would just love to be able to freely travel around the world and work from a laptop a few hours a week. That's the dream, and hopefully I can get there!

You mind if I ask what diet you're doing? Sounds like you're doing a lot of juiced veggies, which is something I've wanted to try for a while. Seems like it's working great for you!

My diet is pretty much a modified version of the Paleo Diet. I like some of what Weston Price Foundation says. But I do drink some green drinks and smoothies. I also take a bunch of supplements.

Here are something I know and use for myself too:
Use duality of things you want or not want. Things that serve or not serve you. Know what result you hate. That will help you get rocket motivation to change something. Then decide what serve you to take action.

Loved this post! Especially the last part is a biggie for many.

Unsuccessful people move away from pain.
    Successful people move towards pleasure.

So even in a painful situation where we clearly know what we don't want we have to immediately "take the bounce" and focus on what this situation helped us clarify what it is that we want because if we continue to focus on what we don't want we will continue to be held hostage by it.

Your relationship example: I am now meeting with "the perfect partner" on a regular basis and it's only possible to meet that perfect partner if you ARE the perfect partner. Right before that I had a situation where I always looked for the things I didn't like in women and naturally my perfect partner wouldn't have anything I didn't like about them so how could the person I really love show up in a place where I'm looking for things I don't love?

If you get this you can turn any area in your life around....

Konakid, hopefully you do find that way to make your dream come true. I too feel that it would be wonderful just to work from my laptop for a few hours a week and then be set

Is your life matching up with everything you set out to do? then you're committed. If not, then you aren't. Plain and simple. If you're life not matching your dreams then there is a contradiction. If there is a contradiction then you failed to in your mission. When the angel of death rear its' ugly head make sure your at peace with every decision. Commitment is what you are not what you say. Commitment is what you are not what you say. Commitment is what you are not what you say. Take those last words and repeat and forget everything else i posted.

Wonderful post Jason, thanks! I like to add, many people feel they need to accept what they have if they are happy or not, and let others tell them what they are capable of and beleive it.

    Nice post Jason.

Just to chime in, people procrastinate for many reasons. It could be fear, but it could also be confusion. Internet Marketing confuses a lot of people because there are so many options and so much to do. We are all trying to get traffic while at the same time create all of the landing pages and messages we need to direct people to. We also are crafting messages and creating products and a million other things.

You are correct when you talk about needing a compelling reason to be successful. In my experience, however, what I find people doing is asking themselves "why" they are not doing what they need to do.

That's a crap question. Your subconscious will come up with answers to that question, even if it has to make it up. So, everyone should focus instead on "What do I need to do to make something happen?" That's what you were doing when you were finding ways to stop your hair loss. That's what everyone does naturally when they can't stop thinking about that girl or boy they just met who they have a date with tonight.

Your mind will obsess on something if you let it. That's how you generate the motivation necessary to accomplish anything you want. Motivation isn't something that you have before you start working. It's an emotional force that's built as a result of focusing on and becoming obsessed by your work.
