How Do You Focus on Work With a Throbbing Headache?

Just curious.

I offer a writing service... and I also get throbbing headaches on a daily basis. In fact, the headache I have now has been with me for almost two weeks. I want to start working on building my IM business but these headaches keep getting in my way.

If I take aspirin the pain goes away but it makes me lazy and I can't concentrate. If I don't take any painkillers the pain puts me in a bad mood and I also can't concentrate.

I feel discouraged.

Advice? Thanks.

I will go get checked up if the headaches don't go away soon.

Could be your neck, my friend. Neck and shoulder tension often cause headaches. Sitting at the computer, neck at a forward angle as you look down at your screen, can cause spinal problems as well.

Make sure you get up and move around every 45 minutes or so.

I am also a writer. I also get headaches frequently.
There are ways to help ease them.
    Painkillers can help.
Having a massage or chiropractic depending on what the issue is.
Having regular breaks from your pc is ESSENTIAL!!!

Plan your days so you have rest in between. You must also get up every hour and stretch and walk around.

I hope these tips will help you.

That's a killer, like every other writer here, I too get the frequent migraine. It used to be much worse, but I did a few things to make it better.

    1) I bought a memory foam pillow. My neck was aching for months before doing this, and it caused regular migraines that made concentrating impossible. It took just a few weeks for the pain to go away.

    2) I don't work through it. I've tried the John Wayne/He-Man pushing through it thing, and it just doesn't work for me. The pain gets worse, my work suffers and nothing goes right. I just stop working, go to sleep for a few hours and start where I left off. Sleep always makes my headaches disappear.

    3) Move around more. Get up every hour or two and just take a short walk, even just around the house. If you sit in front of the computer all day, then you're going to start feeling some pain.

    Hope this helps!

I followed Jason's link to YouTube and found this author's videos. I was impressed with the migraine self help videos, as well as the range of other joint pain videos he offers on his site. I'll be checking them out myself. I hope these will also help you. You may also want to check into food allergy testing. I just read this week about MSG causing migraines in some people.

I didn't understand what a tender spot meant until I listened to these videos. When you feel a tender spot on your muscles, it means that place is tight. So simple, but I had never heard it explained before. I've heard of tight muscles, but didn't know that A=B until just now.

I often get debilitating "food" headaches ,when I skip meals,or just too busy too eat.
I try to keep small snacks on hand, or schedule myself a break to eat a proper meal.
