Be courageous, speak your mind, and be yourself. You probably won't regret it.

Thank you, Michael, for sharing this important message.

What is my motive for what I say? Be courageous, speak your mind, be yourself...yes! By doing so, we improve our communication skills in our quest to become more and more successful.

"Quick to listen, slow to speak..." (quoting a pretty wise fellow by the account of some)

This is good in theory but not practically possible ;most of the times...
You have to be very very very good(Nadal/Federrer/Tendulkar/Messi),or very rich ,or very powerful(Chavez/Obama) to speak your mind always...
Every job...requires the employees to lie to their bosses ,agree with them on almost everything, even when they disagree from inside..
Try to speak your mind exactly to your mother-in-law....lol ...
    or your spouse ...
No I don't agree.. this society and corporate world does not respect free speech , free mind..honest opinions... it is only for the extremely rich, movie stars,super-rich novelists and writers, and certain strata of self employed people ... and those who have nothing-to-lose
Sycophants and yes-men rule...and progres...it is becoming increasingly difficult for a just, rightful, honest man to rise up in the corporate world and even in business the lower level businessmen better shut their mouth in front of people like bill gates..Mittal and likes..
Try to speak your mind against your party leader ... or your team captain...youre almost out!!
I mean really who in the world really respects the honest person...????

So no this is not a practical advise to follow I think...something else is needed .and I think it will not be so straightforward....

Its just like encouraging people. Even if they are not quite their now that little bit of encouragement may be what it takes to get them there.

Its quite easy to tell someone they suck at something but usually its coming from a weak place from someone that has not completed all their own goals in life and thinks no one else should.

I do kinda like how people who feel so passionate about something that may actually be immoral reveal themselves.

I agree...can sugar coat everything.. but this is a REALITY CHECK

This atmosphere of yes-manship and a$%-licking culture is the BIGGEST reason apart from Money and freedom ,why people are getting Fedup with their jobs..and the corporate culture.....it is really SICKENING ... the level of A$@ licking and the growth such people get and the honest ,hard-working people...are left behind..

It has almost always been the case ,but I feel that this trend is increasing more and more with new and useless only-on-paper management techniques, which no one follows (or cannot follow) have come up recently..the companies are filled up with managers whose only job is to keep asking for status and track people's in-out-times and leaves and holidays .......

So the point is the TRUTH has no value in todays world........unless you are .....as already mentioned in my ealrier reply....ONE-OF-THEM...

I believe that in some cases the greatest amount of self discipline (certainly for those who are generally confident who can speak their mind) is not speaking their mind.

Confidence of knowledge is much more powerful and convincing to the self than any art of persuasion or urge to be heard.

Ah, but now I've contridicted myself by posting....:p

The sad truth of the matter is that a good deal of the time, your environment dictates your freedom of speech or being able to speak your mind. Take for example, the environment at your workplace. I have found that being in a corporate environment, it's almost suicide to speak up EVEN when you are being asked to do so. I remember a corporate meeting where we were told whatever you say will not be held against you. Short story... it was. Questioning authority, speaking your mind, or even making suggestions for improvement, when done in the kindest, most sincere manner will possibly get you in the most trouble. I always try to examine what I could have done better or learned from my mistakes, and in that case, it was that I shouldn't have taken that job in the first place. Perhaps, in hindsight, I understood that I would have never been allowed to be myself...or speak my mind. I think the key to being able to be courageous is to examine what the end results will be when you do so, FIRST. Just my opinion.
