Anyone using a life coach???

I have been listening to motivational and business coaches like:

Tony Robbins, Les Brown, Zig Ziglar, and Jim Rohn.

You can listen to all of them at the same time. They are all great speakers and master motivators.

Same here! I watch videos of them on YouTube. Its a great way to surround yourself with outstanding people like them.

I use a life coach and am a life coach. I've spent years listening to CDs like Tony Robbins and they are fantastic. I've found though that nothing quite replaces the experience life coaches can bring, which is personalised coaching for you and your life.

A coach also is someone who you are accountable to. You should always have a specific goal or dream in mind that you want to achieve and the coach will help you reach that goal by making sure you follow up on your actions (that you commit to yourself to do). If you ever had piano lessons as a kid, you'll remember how you practised knowing that you'll have to play that piece the following Thursday! A life coach is similar, but instead of playing a piece of music, you get to accomplish your dreams.

It is also useful to have someone that isn't a friend or family who you can talk with. A coach doesn't have that emotional connection with your life and are one step removed. They can really help with honest feedback and often point out your "blind spots" - things you do and say which you don't realise are holding you back.

One important thing is that a life coach is not a therapist. A therapist tries to help you get over things in your past which are holding you back from moving forward. A life coach helps you look forward and vision your life for the future.

A lot of people feel they don't need a coach. If you look around though, all the high achievers and people living on purpose have coaches. Even Olympic champions need them!

You hit it right. I used to have a coach and am a coach now too.

Always has a goal that you want to achieve in your coaching session. That will save you lots of time and money. Because we are paid by the hour.

One example recently. A client was stuck in her life. She wants to move forward towards her dream but is held back because of financial challenge.

I asked her one question, and her eyes brighten up. Her problem solved.

Most people wouldn't hire a coach because they feel they can get it done on their own. But with a life coach, they can get there faster.

I'm assuming a Life Coach is a trainer for your life. For people that can't motivate themselves . . . . .?

Not necessarily people who "can't motivate themselves" sometimes it's hard to see the forest for the trees and a well trained coach will be able to probe and challenge any of your misconceptions, negative automatic thoughts, and give you a chance to verbalise your thoughts and problem solve for yourself.

A life coach shouldn't be the one telling you what to do, from some plan they have made up... so they're not the one motivating you; rather they're an outside, neutral entity who won't judge you that can help you ensure you keep your focus and remain accountable to yourself for the actions you plan to do or the direction you want to follow from plans you would have come up with yourself.

I bet everyone does also, I have a coach and is really a great help for me. It is always good if you have someone to watch and guide you over to things.

I'm a Life Coach, too, and I particularly like Vicwic's description there. A good Coach will help you draw out your strengths, untangle any limiting beliefs and find ways of making your goals more compelling and therefore easier to reach.

Coaches should NOT gve advice on how you should live your life.

Coaching is a lot more powerful than most people give it credit for. I used to think it was a load of old nonsense until I experienced it for myself, and then went on to train. It's really good stuff for helping you problem-solve, get 'unstuck' from limitations and actually reach those goals you've been procrastinating about.

There is an old line that pastors share with one another, like this: "You can't be your own pastor."

We need mentors, coaches, pastors, and others who are willing to work with us, to walk through the tough issues, to hold us accountable, to ask the questions we never wanted to think about or were avoiding, etc...

IMHO, everyone needs a coach.

I don't have a specific coach/motivator but "youtube" has been mine because I can access anyone and replay their video as many times as I want , I love it but I still want 1on1
