Talking of success, it will always be what you make it.

True success to me means being truly dedicated to what you love doing best , Having a wonderful relationship , successive in education & happiness in health, family, love etc.

Success to others is buying that car of their dreams, going on vacations or buying that dream property... but I think balance is very important. Sometimes the simple things in life are free.... love what you do, be patience and persistent and you will be successful.

I defined success as a reason of striving. Success is not just we finished something at the end of the day but how we do something good not only for our self but also to other. Success is not always winning, but also accepting failures and defeats. Accepting defeats is the hardest thing to do, that's why if you accept and learn from your failures, success will follow.

Success is what you make it. Accomplishment, winning.......

I really believe this! Watch this 2 minute video by Shawn Achor, "The Happiness Advantage". Shawn has done extensive research on happiness and human performance at Harvard. The message is similar. Be happy now, then the result you are after comes a lot more easily and in a fun way! I believe LOA methods work so much better also when you learn this!

Success is in the persons own definition about it, it's hard for me to define what success means to you so as you to define what success means to me.

Success to me is a combination of love and money. They say love doesn't buy you happiness and I have no doubt that is true.... but it's certainly gonna help! I want to be comfortable and be able to provide for my kids... not just scrape along.

I hope I find it. I hope IM will get me to where I want to be.

I think a lot of people get caught up in thinking that they can't or won't be happy until they achieve a certain goal.That happiness exists outside of them in the outside world.But what happens when you reach your goal and think hmmm this isn't it,im still not happy?do you then set another goal then another goal? Will chasing material success provide you with a more fulfilling experience of life or could it lead to feelings of stress,worry,burnout and poor productivity?

That is a first post to remember. Success indeed can be measure in terms of the journey rather than just the destination.

For me, success is the result all your efforts, love, determination, etc.
Success can be a relationship, financial success, education, etc.
You can't have a healthy relationship if you didn't work for it.

This is SUCCESS

For me, there are 8 pillars of success. In no significant order, they are:

1. Spiritual
2. Mental
3. Emotional
4. Physical
5. Financial
6. Employment
7. Family
8. Relationships.

Different people have different needs in each of these areas, so their definitions of success will differ. Furthermore, the same person's needs may change over time, too!

In my opinion, success is never giving up, enjoying life and successfully solving problems consistently.

To me, success is freedom; having control over your life. I believe this comes from having control over your mind. Some of the most important work you will ever do is the inner work. It takes great discipline to be at peace with your thoughts and to think what YOU want to think.

If you can manage to do this, you will ultimately have liberty and freedom, which can not be defined by anyone or anything. Only you know if you are truly free.

What a great topic. Interesting reading how everyone views success. To me, I think of success as being able to volunteer my time to organizations (like Rotary - one of the organizations I work with) and to be able to financially donate to organizations and causes I believe in. And both of those I can do because of working from home.

I think success is achieved when your dreams come true. Living off of an income generated by my sites and living a great happy lifestyle is definitely success for me, and I'm sure it is for most other people on this forum.

There are people who define success as how much money one has in their bank account, or how many people they have on their list and such, but success really can't be measured by anybody because success is achieved by your satisfaction in what you have done or what you have achieved.

If you have reached a goal, then you're successful, if you have helped someone to solve a problem, then you're successful. If you made a good grade on a school paper, then you're successful. If you received a promotion at your job, then you're successful. If you made money, then you're successful.

I could go on here, but I believe that you got the idea.

Success is not only what shows on the outside, but also what you feel within when something is completed and has been done well.

Success is individual. Each must define success for themselves.

If I say success is having a big, happy family and you never have children, are you a failure? If I say success is owning a different car for each day of the year and you don't have that, are you a failure? If I say success is having a jellybean in your nose and you don't, are you a failure?

Of course not, unless you share the same definitions of success.

Personal priorities, individual goals, individual needs and different interpretations of words and reality itself mean there is no definition for success except on an individual level.

Success is a journey. It has multiple peaks and not one ultimate pinnacle. One success builds on another. Setbacks and mistake will also help you build success. At different periods of your life, success is defined differently.

True success to me means to achieve what you set out to do. It is also about touching people and finding time to spend with your family.

Success is accomplishing more than what you did the day before.

First time I realized I was a "success" was when a random stranger recognized a little known fact about me... an obscure reference...

For me it was at a car show. One of the characters in one of the novel series I write, builds art cars. After writing the series for 10 years or so, I got to thinking one day "Hey! I should build one of his cars in real life and go to car shows with it." So I did. I built the Dazzling Razzberry...









but named it The Dazzling Razzberry 2because I was unable to find the same car as was used in the book (a 1973 Lincoln Mark V) and so instead built it out of my daily driver (a 1992 Volvo 240GL). Also the car in the book was painted purple with glitter nail polish and sequins stuck into the paint while wet. While an amazing effect, and certainly doable, I finished the top of 1 fender before realizing it'd cost me about $80,000 dollars to do the whole car this way. YIKES! So I painted it with pink rustolium and then glued 2.5 million purple marbles to it instead. It somewhat resembles a purple disco ball.


At car shows, it wins awards and trophies and attracts huge crowds of (thousands of) people who are fascinated by the strange glittering creation. Most people ask about the name Dazzling Razzberry 2 and ask if there is another car. I explain about the fictional car from the novels. Most people admit to never having heard of me or my novels.


Once in a while, people will (not wanting to admit to never hearing of me or my novels) will respond with "Oh yeah, I remember that book." But then can not name it, my penname, or the name of the character who builds the cars.


One day however, a guy in the crowd is walking by looking at the cars. He stops, does a double take, then walks slowly around my car. He exclaims: "OMG! It's the Dazzling Razzberry! I gotta tell my wife!" He runs off.

About 10 minutes later he returns dragging his wife as he excitedly screams, "You gotta see it! It's the Dazzle Razzberry! Just like in the book!" He drags her all around the car yipping and yapping excitedly. He sees me sitting in the group of car owners off to the side (me, a CosPlayer, dressed as the character from the book, dripping in rhinestones, it's obvious which car I go with, as every one else just looks like average car owners).

He drags his wife to me and starts yapping about being a fan and loving my books. Something I often hear from people who realize I'm an author, but don't want to admit they never heard of me. ("I love your books! Read every one!" then can't name a single series, novel, or character.) So, I'm assuming he's just another one of these types at first. Until...


He asks me if he can get a picture of him and his wife with me and the Razzberry. I said sure. Another car owner takes his camera while we go pose together with the car. He gets his camera back and is chattering excitedly about the picture... and then he stops talking...


Silently he stares at the picture. Then he stares at the car. e looks at the picture. Slowly he walks around the car a couple of times muttering to himself. then he comes back over to me and says:


**HIM**: "This is a Volvo."


**ME**: "Yep. It is."


**HIM**: "But I thought the car in the book was a Lincoln?"


**ME**: "You read my book!!!!!"


It was just an OMG moments of OMG! This guy is an actual real fan of my books, not just some guy trying to hide the fact he'd never heard of me and saying he read the book to not sound stupid. No, this guy actually read the book, actually was a fan, and recognized the fact that i had used a Volvo instead of a Lincoln to make the real version of the fictional car.


It as at that moment, I knew I was successful as an author. It wasn't about how many sales or how much money or any of the things you normally think of when you think success. It was just the whole "OMG! The random stranger off the streets, actually knows who I am!!!! OMG! I have fans!!!!"


I will never forget that day. It was my first time meeting a fan who actually was a fan. It just blew me away, the feeling of being a successful write, a successful author, simply because someone knew my book.
