As many people here will know, I started my main site back in 2003. I had a couple of false starts before then, but when I began my current project, I had determined that I was going to stick with it until I made it a success.

Success means different things to different people, of course. When I started, my goal was simply to replace my day job with a decent online income. I achieved that goal after eight years of solid effort. I finally quit the day job in 2011.

At the beginning of this year, I set myself a new goal. It is a huge goal and, when I set it, I had no idea how I was going to achieve it. The goal is to make $1 Million in one year - yes I know, you are right to be skeptical ... if you are, that is. But there are two things I wanted to say about setting that goal:

Why I am Now Ready

I could not have even set my current financial goal before this year. Why? Because I genuinely did not believe it would be possible for me. Lets face it, after 8 years of solid effort, seeing my income growing very slowly and steadily, what hard evidence did I have to suggest I could do it? The answer, of course, is none!

But last year (Sept) I started a new blog with the intention of showing people how to get from $0 and into 'significant profit'. I had my goal stated at the top of the blog and that goal statement constantly irked me. Eventually, I decided that it was not a well-formed goal statement and I changed it to the $1 Million target .. and then, I added the time frame!

It both excited me and also scared the life out of me. But I was ready for that kind of a challenge. I had been making 5 figures annually, very consistently. Heck I had come a long way and I figured I was ready. I think that's an important component because it means that mentally, I was ready to accept that it might be possible for me.

My Thinking is Changing

The second thing I wanted to say is that I know that I am thinking differently having set that goal. I think this effect is the essence of what is said in the book 'The Magic of Thinking Big'. But, in any case, it is true that I am thinking differently.

Over the past year or so, I have found the key people I needed to partner with to bring missing attributes to my business. We have worked out win-win solutions so that everybody benefits and I am really excited about how these partnerships will blossom in the year ahead.

For some people, I know my confidence will sound misplaced, but hey, it's now on record and you can call me for it at the end of the year if you like.

I genuinely believe my time has come.

Wish me luck.

Will

Why $1 million dollars and not £1 million pounds if you're in the UK?

Either way, best of luck, you've obviously got the drive and ambition, and at least you've got something to aim for. I hope it works out for you!

It is how the Internet is run, it's just the main currency of the Internet.

Will, unlike many others who plan on making it big before they have done anything, you have gone the opposite. You have have the foundation in place, you found the network that will allow you to achieve it and now sounds like a good time to set yourself such a challenge. All the best dude, sounds like its a matter of time before you achieve it.

Maybe I misread but it sounded like you're saying you want to make a million dollars, but you already have a blog telling people how to make a million dollars?

      Hi Andy

The blog actually has my goal statement right at the top. It says, "My name is Will Edwards and I have set myself the goal of making $1 Million profit in one year!"

So I am not teaching people how to make $1 Million; it is a live case study on my own goal and my progress against it.

Your PD blog could be massive because it gets so much visitors.

I'm no expert, but I think you could set it up 1000X better.

If you have money available I'd suggest getting something like this Website Reviews | ConversionXL and you will reach your goal much quicker.

          Hi Fin

Thanks for that link - it looks like an interesting service.

However, I still have your message in my scratchpad on my desktop and it programs my brain every day.

          It reads ...

          One Product
          One Traffic Source
          One Sales Funnel
          One Year
          One Million Dollars

          Remember?

            lol yeah

I just think you're making good money and you obviously have amazing traffic (you were even on page 1 for 'personal development'), but when you get to those levels and you have a converting sales funnel it's important to get professionals in.

A few tweaks of your website could double your opt-ins which could double your money. Double your auto-responder clickthroughs and double your money again.

I just think at the stage where you are you might be leaving A LOT of money on the table by not speaking to conversion specialists.

I have actually blogged about that advice - I called it 'the best advice ever offered on The Warrior Forum'.

Anyway, the thing is that many people choose to do business with me because of how I choose to market i.e. no hype, no tricks, no bull. I believe I need to continue to be myself because that is what sets me apart from the competition.

                Well good luck!

I can't even remember where I got that from, but it's the same as what I've been saying in this thread. Set up one complete sales funnel and tweak it.

Just remember it's much easier to change the position of something and double your opt-ins than it is to double your traffic.

So you're only making £1132.73 a month right now? This is full time?? This is just above full time minimum wage. Kids working full time at Tesco earn almost the exact same amount.

      Good question!

The difference is that the kids in Tescos have to turn up and stack shelves to earn their money. By contrast, mine is largely passive. In other words, if I chose to go on holiday for a month, I would still make about the same amount.

When building passive income, it takes massive effort to produce a tiny increment of residual income. It is the commitment and determination to put in the necessary effort that will continue to build my income and, in the end, that is what is going to get me to my goal.

Have to agree with Will here, I know many young people working in Tesco's, Asda etc., and they hate it! If I offered to show them how to change that and build a business working on there computers, they would jump at it (If they were smart). The one overwhelming difference between earning 1k in IM and 1k at tescos is, next month you could earn 1.5k in IM but I bet you your still on the same salary for a very long time at a company.

          Hi Butters

Yes - I agree with you. What is so amazing about internet marketing is that there genuinely is no top limit on what you can earn. In my first year, I earned exactly $29. But that experience changed my life because it made me realise the possibility.

I appreciate that many people don't want to hear about someone like me, steadily improving, year upon year, and actually telling it like it is. But actually, many people do appreciate me being honest.

Anyway, we have 9 months left before you can properly compare my 2013 income with Tescos shelf stackers.

What people fail to see is, your actually doing it, your being transparent, theres no hype or BS around your blog. It is exactly the sort of website I would point new marketers to because it is raw information. There is much more value in talking to people who are honest and show everything then the other kind.

            All the best dude!

I have been following your blog. It inspired me to finally start putting my ideas together in (an almost) coherent way.

You´ll make it. And if you don´t... you will still be much closer to it that if you hadn´t make the commitment.

My own goal is to be completely financially free by the age of 50. That is... that I can live for the rest of my life without working if I choose to.

Weird things happen when you put constraints like this... interesting things.
