I love Napoleon Hill' think and grow rich.' Still no 1 in the kindle bestsellers. Shows his teachings are so relevant today.

My favorite of all time is "How To Win Friends And Influence People" by Da;e Carnegie. Although these are not self help books they did inspire me, 2 Good books I read recently were "Get Rich Click" by Marc Ostrofsky and "Made In America" by Sam Walton.

      I Agree!

I just started reading How to Win Friends and Influence People. It has become my favorite book along with Think and Grow Rich.

The story about Charles Schwab, one of the first people to earn one million dollars a year as president of US Steel is so inspiring. Schwab confessed there were many who knew more about manufacturing steel than he did. He was convinced his salary was in direct proportion to his ability to appreciate and encourage others to succeed.

The Law of Attraction by Michael Losier is a really straight foward and easy to integrate take on LOA

Some of Stuart Wilde's earlier books - the Quickening, Silent Power and the Trick to Money is Having some are all good, though not altogether clear on the how to parts.

Dan Kennedy's No BS Wealth Attraction Secrets for Entrepreneurs is great. Probably one of the best non-LOA oriented books that uses the principles none-the-less.

        Say word.

I like "think and grow rich" too. For self-help, "the 7 habits of highly effective people" by Stephen R. Covey, is my favourite one.

  • Hi, v4victoria:

I have to put in with so many other forum submitter claims about "Think And Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill being one of the best motivating works you can read. Then after six months goes by reread it for multiple more benefits.

That's what I did and was quite surprised at the impact the second reading had on me. You can't imagine how much information you miss in the first reading of any really powerful and complete book such as that one.

The second reading also acted as another hyper "shot in the arm" regarding my resolution to continue being productive on a daily basis 7 days a week. After all this "is" sit down work we do!

Yeah i have to agree with the above selection... but there are soooooo many more. Tony Robbins and Brian Tracy have made a difference

I am currently reading, Bushido: The Way of the Samurai - which is interesting and inspires me and helps me put things in perspective.

    Thanks

There are SO many amazing books I have read on Self-Help and LOA ... it's about all that I read. But, the one that was the first book and is still so near and dear to my heart is called "Total Self-Confidence" by Dr. Robert Anthony. I read that when I was 18 and it changed my life. Now, you would not think it's a book on LOA, but trust me ... this is a little gem for learning how the mind works, and learning how to think in ways that get you the results you desire to have, which has everything to do with Law of Attraction.

Stuart Lichtman's How to get lots of money for anything fast is the most complicated book on goal achievement, but without a doubt the most effective.

"The Four Hour Work Week" by Tim Ferriss. But don't be turned off by the title (as I was at first), because it's not some scammy get-rich-quick scheme.

This book opened my eyes to the idea that it was actually feasible for "normal" people to quit their jobs and earn money via passive income, while pursuing their passions. It sounds weird to say it now, but prior to reading that book, it just never occurred to me that there was any path in life other than working in a cubicle for 40 years until retirement.

Back in the nineties I joined an MLM. Naturally that exposed me to the area of self help. I read and re-read all of Napoleon Hill's works, Tony Robbins had just published his second book, I recognize many of the authors mentioned in this post. I became a self help junkie reading hundreds of books. I have to say that they all helped. What is amazing about capitalism is the very notion of self help or self improvement as indicative of a free people aspiring to achieve. The author that changed my life forever was not in the self help niche but a novelist/philosopher named Ayn Rand. The first work I read of hers was "Atlas Shrugged". It blew my mind. Studying her works both fiction and non fiction has helped me form a integrated view of existence with which I can compliment all the self help knowledge I have received. Do give her a try, not with an open mind but an active mind.

    Not onboard with LOA yet..
But I'd say that "The Four Hour Workweek" is the book that has had the biggest impact on me in the past 10-15 years (and I read TONS of books.)

That book lead me here and opened my eyes to the possibility of lifestyle design. I simply didn't think any of his ideas were possible before.

I even got the audio version and have listened to it dozens of times. It's like my whole life I've been brainwashed to think you had to have a 9-5 job and the audio is breaking through years of societal programming.

    Honorable mentions:
    EVERYTHING by Seth Godin
The War of Art by Steven Pressfield
Anything You Want by Derek Sivers
