What is kindness to you?

I've watch some vid clips of people with acts of kindness.

I can see that a lot of people have forgotten how to be

give kindness and to receive kindness.

We just had to rekindle and give anyone the warmth of

that kindness to ignite everyone else to be kind to one

Many things: helping others, loving others, being happy for others.

Making sure people understand what you're talking about. Caring more about the learning of others than the money you make.

Jay - I love both of those videos - thank you for posting them. They remind me that there are plenty of good-hearted people in the world. Something we all need to be reminded of from time to time.

As you asked the question, "What is kindness to you?" I will also add that Mother Theresa's comment that "if you can't feed the world, then just feed one person" sums up what kindness is for me.

Kindness is helping other people without them asking and without expecting anything in return.
Kindness is being a true friend through thick and thin.
Kindness is sometimes considered "tough love" when you have to address issues with friends who may be ignoring a serious problem they face with regards to health or life in general.
Kindness is offering a shoulder to cry on or an ear to listen when needed.

For me kindness is an open heart. Kindness is the smile I didn't have to give, or the simple courtesy not expected. Kindness is often the little things that make life so much easier.

    Nice videos!

Someone said "A smile is a light in the window of the soul indicating that the heart is at home." I'd say, kindness starts with a smile.

Random acts of helpfulness can create a kindness chain. Maybe even like in the video below -which is so staged, but still, I find it inspirational

I think kindness can be explained in a lot of ways, but doing things for other people, and not for your own benefit is definitely an example.

Not a lot of kindness around these days, people are always looking for something in return .

Kindness is an act of giving oneself not just through the things but also time. Like what we experience from our mothers.

    It's funny.

I once viewed kindness as a way of where you give to others, but many of the new forms of kindness are a way for people to only progress themselves.

Think about the youtube videos that go viral from huge youtubers, many of them are specifically doing it because they know they'll make money from it or get more subscribers from it.

I want to be happy for the people they are helping, but at the same time I see the real story unfolding.

Conclusion: Kindness in my opinion is really when you give to others in no hopes to receive anything in return.

  • Dear Mr. Walters,
It is such a simple question you ask. "What is kindness to you?"

First of all it was kind of you to create a thread that gives all the people of this forum the opportunity to answer this question from their unique perspective.

For me, the tried and true method of practicing kindness is to always (to the very best of my ability) treat others as I would have them treat me. The true kindness then resides within me since this is my modus operandi and I am first and foremost receiving the internal kindness originating from my outward practice. Keep smiling all the way to the kindest kindness!

“People are often unreasonable and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.
If you are honest, people may cheat you. Be honest anyway.
If you find happiness, people may be jealous. Be happy anyway.
The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough. Give your best anyway.
For you see, in the end, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.”

Great vids.. Thanks for sharing! It's hard to be kind when people are pushing you to your limits. Some will really test your patience - talking about kindness to those who are not.

But at the end of the day, what you have to offer to others they will give it in return. I just live by this principle. And even if they are not kind to me, when I am to them, it's cool as long as I didn't do the same.

    - For me kindness is helping, giving and sharing others not only for the less fortunate, but also to your family and friends. It’s about seeing the positive sides of all things- not dwelling in the bad. Seeing and recognizing the good in every person.
