Hey guys long time reader first time poster.

I just got back from an Internet Marketing conference in Chicago, USA. It was a fantastic weekend and I just wanted to share the main points I got from it.

The biggest point I got that seems so simple is

"Your best thinking about success up until this point in time and the subsequent actions from your best thinking, has got you to where you are now. Therefore for something to change, something has to change."

Many of us, myself included have these perceived ideas about success and making money. We are socially conditioned to think a certain way about success. Eg as kids we are told to get good grades, go to university, get a good job etc and we are told that the only way to make money is to work harder/longer.

So we get conditioned to think that the only way to earn money is to slave away in our jobs.

And then some of us try to break away from it and look to the internet or home business to make money. We begin to learn and try some things, doing the inevitable "shiny object chasing" and jump around from method to method, idea to idea. And we get conditioned in this environment by things we see and hear in the internet marketing world.

"oh you can't do that anymore, the latest Panda update killed that"

"2013 is all about this product or this method"

I know personally a lot of these thoughts came down to ego. You become so sure of the way you think things are that you can't see anything else.

I was sitting at this conference and some people got up and were speaking about all this money they made and I sat there getting jealous and angry because I'm not making the kind of money there are. My beliefs about thing were being questioned and that makes anyone uncomfortable.

My point here is to be open to new ideas, and unless you are as successful you want to be, a lot of your actions and thoughts are probably leading you astray.

Success/failure is basically just the repetition of a few choices/actions over and over, these things may not be evident right away but when you look back over a period of time you can see the consequences.

Eg if you eat Burger King every meal, every day, you might not notice anything after one day but in 50 days, you'll probably look in the mirror and go "shit I'm a fat bag of shit...whoops".

It's the same if you take some action that gets a few visitors more a day to your website, your life won't change in 1 day from getting 5 visits but by 50 days when you are getting 300 visits a day obviously that is a massive improvement.

Hope this makes sense, just wanted to share because it was a pretty humbling, breakthrough idea. I believe that mindset is 98% of the battle, the exact method (PPC, blogging, dancing nude in the street etc ) you use for success is just a tool.

Thoughts?

Mindset, whilst very important indeed, is not 98% of the battle in my opinion. You need a bunch of things including:

    - Self Belief (Mindset)
    - Passion and Desire
    - Be Continually Learning
    - Set Correct Goals
    - Hard Work (Do Whatever it Takes)
    - Persistence and Consistency

If you get your thinking straight, you are on the right track - granted - but you need effort, persistence, determination and thick skin to become unstoppable.

Excellent information primetime345, and Will added more value to it. I would like to add to the list "Self-Discipline", which is the ability to do, what you should do, when you should do, whether you feel like it or not.

Change is important, it just that it must be for the betterment of yourself and to other people around you.

Change is the only thing that is constant in life and it depends on how we adjust ourselves to these changes. Applying the values mentioned above, you can face any change that will come your way.

Change is constant. It is very important that people can learn how to understand that life has no other choice, and that is to go forward and adopt the changes.

People may think that they should be successful* for something. But, some are not thinking that the reason why they are not successful is that they don’t change their lives from time to time. They are not thinking that “TODAY” should not the same with “YESTERDAY.”

We often have to change in order to cope with this ever changing world.

Absolutely nothing in this world remains constant, we always evolve/change.

    We should be always flexible.

i don't care how much someone makes ..if the need a hand full of medications to get out of bed in the morning ..and are dumb enough to pay 20 times more for the same item in wally world because of the store they buy it in or the label ..

how about the pro athletes with 6 7 and 8 figures ..looking the part now who will be penniless in 20 years ..

so how many of you read any of lance armstrong's books on winning and success ..where he swore up and down he did not cheat ..

time and time again the most successful people either got away with cheating or breaking laws ..or they turned around and had the government put laws in place so others could not do what they did..either by ould not do what they did..either by copyright or legislation.

real successful people shut up and do what they do and make the money .

because for them work and play are nearly the same thing and the harder the work they can do with the greater rewards ..the more they enjoy it .

Good point.. It takes the same amount of work and dedication to be a success or a failure.

It's just the things that you work on that change.

    Choose the right path!

    Cheers,

  • Hi primetime345

Welcome to the land of posting opportunity. Welcome.

Nice long thread about "change". Change is not optional. Whether we like it or not, our lives are subject to change constantly. And, of course, our business plans should be designed to accommodate change scaling it upward and outward.

Consciously making changes with one's business model more often than not is difficult to achieve in some respects because we are such reluctant participants. But without the concept of change we would probably never do "split testing" or any other proven principles of change. If we haven't employed them yet, . . . it's time to change.

Therefor I would suggest change is good even when it shows up as bad.
