failure is not an option

Failure is not an option; its my favorite quote which was said during the apollo 13 mission. Unfortunately, as many have proven, if you give up, failure is always an option. Sometimes I feel like no matter how much effort I put towards a goal failure is lurking around the corner. I can feel it, I know its coming, but i refuse to go down without a fight. I hate being in those situations where no matter what you do your fate is out of your hands, its such a helpless feeling.
I find myself often wondering how much can I take. My greatest fear is that I don't know. Everyone has their breaking point...EVERYONE.
My wife and I are going through IVF trying to have a child. I'm pretty sure the need for this is the many years of cycling, but we have put all effort into this, for the past 2 years and so far it has not worked. None of this is insured, we spent more money on this process than we earned. We are running out of options so when do you except defeat on someone that you want your life to be.
#failure #option
  • I have close family members who had to push through a similar obstacle. As you said, failure is not an option. Things will work out!

"Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed of an equal or greater benefit"

"Most great people have attained their greatest success just one step beyond their greatest failure"

"The majority of men meet with failure because of their lack of persistence in creating new plans to take the place of those which fail."

"Failure is a trickster with a keen sense of irony and cunning. It takes great delight in tripping one when success is almost within reach"

If you experience failure today it doesn't mean that you'll be a failure tomorrow unless you didn't take any action to stand up.

Failure is not an option but a result of a decision.

Failure is not also a mistake but a way to strive more and a stepping stone towards success.

On the specific subject of IVF, only last week there was something on the news about a new UK breakthrough in the field that is going to make it 3 times more likely to succeed. Here's the article and best of luck in the future with it...

    • I feel your frustration. And you have been paying for this effort out of pocket too!

You could continue with your IVF attempts after taking a break from it for a year or so. That might give you some breathing room and help you to refocus on which direction you want to pursue.

The truth is: TIME itself will reveal the answer because the window of opportunity will close.

Another choice might be adoption. It may not be an exact match for your desire, but it sure would meet the challenge.

I certainly wish you both wellness.

Another good quote I live within is everything is worth a try. Failing does not mean you have to stop, it's just a thought that can make you realize that you have to do something different from what you usually do.

For me, I would prefer to DIE knowing I gave it everything that I've got then to consider it a failure.

    The question is -

If you quit, then what you are going to replace the pursuit of the miracle of having a child with.

I don't want to push my personal opinions down anybody's throat but being a father (or mother) is the most awesome experience.

    Keep going!!

Also, thanks for sharing your struggle here. To me, it means that you really care.

I don't want to minimize the pain of lost money and time but my guess is that you have a lot more left in your gas tank.

Stop being a reluctant entrepreneur and take on calculated risks. Failure is not an option, but if you dont get your path correct, failure will be the only option.

Just like the old saying. Practice makes perfect? well practice will only get to "perfect" if you know the practice that you are practicing is in its correct form.

    "Perfect practice makes perfect"

I don't see changing your career is a failure. If you have tried many times and you feel it's not worth all the effort, then maybe that wasn't what you wanted in the first place. People change and so do their ambitions. Failure is when you give up something you love so much knowing that it was worth the fight and sacrifices but you didn't pursue as you feel you don't deserve it.

the best hitter fail to hit the ball most of the time they are at bat .

only one lead quarter back gets a super bowl ring every year only one person get mvp of the super bowl .

the only way to succeed is to be willing to fail more than everyone else .. figure out how to do something and then pay people a small amount of money or buy a machine to do it the same way every time..and fire them or replace the machine if they fail to do that .

you do not want your doctor to fail .. nor do you want your lawyer to fail , or your accountant ..

but if you are a book publisher ..you put 500 book out there looking for that one that may sell a million ..and then you pay that author a good amount of money to write another hit .

winners fail a lot more than non winners ..they just learn how to keep playing

For me it's more like "failure is not an option to stop at". Because if you're really going to succeed you don't stop until you've blasted through failure and felt success to some degree.

I fail a lot even today. Sometimes money and time feels like it floats away on projects. What makes it worth while is the fact that I keep going to reap the rewards of my efforts.

There are no failures only lessons. We learn the most when we fail as long as we use what we learn and move on. take action and fail forward!!
