I have come in contact with a lot of motivating methods among family and friends used by one and all to "get things done". Women, men, it doesn't matter cause everyone has this in them if they have a pulse.

We probably all agree the ultimate motivator is getting the cash. Yes. But that's sort of a final reward. What I am talking about is any incentive introduced along the way in pursuit of project finalization and launch.

Warriors, what secret motivators do you use "along the way"?

I've spent a lot of time researching millionaires and their stories before they became rich. Now they all didn't have this in common, but probably 80% of them had a story like this...

And I mean EXACTLY like this. Almost always about a HOUSE.

They talk about being extremely broke, wanting/needing a new place to live, going to see exactly the type of home they would like to buy, and taking pictures of it as if they're moving in.

They'd get in the walk-in closet and snap a photo, one in the bathroom, one in the foyer, if there was a pool outside by the pool. With THEM in the photos. Smiling and thumbsing up etc.

Of course their friends would laugh at them.

But they would then post these photos everywhere in their home where they're living now. In the bathroom, on the closet door, on the dresser, on all the mirrors.

So they'd constantly remind themself of where they are, and where they'd like to be. A bit of contrast. Which isn't anything new but if you study these stories you will find it yourself.

They had a goal and they put it up everywhere so no matter what room they were in, oh yeah there's that thing I want. It could be a picture, an index card, whatever.

    It gets the mind going.

Motivation is all about what you want, what you have and a deadline.

    E.g. i want a huge house, i currently don't have one, i want it by December 2013.

    This should create some motivation

    Cheers,

    Gary

Lol I guess that's one way.

I need to gain momentum in whatever the thing is for me to really get into it. The catalyst or spark is simply choosing to do that one thing. Whether it's reading, exercising or whatever else I need that one that push to get the ball rolling. After that I tend to take off running.

So, to be brief, my secret motivator is just to do the thing without thinking too much, or even at all. Thinking and over thinking just leads to me not doing what I previously planned i would do.

One of the strongest ways to motivate yourself that I have ever discovered has to do with benefits and rewards.

Every day, take time to think about the rewards and benefits of taking action towards your goals.

When you get clear about what you will get from the things you do on a daily basis it will change your behavior in major ways.

Write down all of the benefits and rewards that you will get along the way from working towards your goals. It is good to also think about the actions that take you away from your goals and the consequences of such actions.

The combination of these two things will shape you into a focused, driven, highly successful person if you use them on a consistent basis. They have completely changed me and I hope they completely change you as well.
