How to break through Information overload:

The best way of dealing with information overload is to avoid it in the first place. That might sound a bit like the advice to take an aspirin half an hour before your headache starts. Just like the aspirin, avoidance techniques can still be effective even if you start them later than recommended. If you are struggling with beginning internet marketing, you can cure information overload even if you have started to experience the pain.

The first thing to do is to make a plan. If you are already noticing the signs of impending information overload, take a couple of days off. Don't go online; don't even touch your computer. I know from personal experience that you won't want to do this. You will want to keep working because there is so much to learn. You will feel that you will get left behind in the internet race if you take time off.

I can promise you that you won't get left behind. When you come back, clear headed and refreshed, you will catch up and take great strides forward.

Great advice Joakim! the shiny object syndrome can be very addicting. I also recommend unsubscribing from some of the lists that you dont get value from.

But if I unsubscribe I might miss something.

...Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just set there.

Great thought indeed. I have so much stuff in my hard drive enough to write several books; and may be one of these days I will. But yes, if you take time off you will not get behind and when you return to it you can actually ignore all the irrelevant things out there.

information overload is similar to over eating ..only nature helps by making your stomach only so big ..and you cab help by eating more roughage and less fatty foods ..

with information where having to much information is such a new thing for everyone .

the key is to learn what information you need now and what you can snack on later .and learn how you best digest and consume information

Shiny object syndrome is killer! The best way to avoid is have a clear plan of your desired outcome then map out the steps you need to achieve that outcome. That way you won't buy anything you don't need that will drag you in a different direction, but instead you will only buy exactly what you need to carry out your most immediate task

One of my favorite sayings, "If you fail to plan, then you can plan to fail". The key to avoiding information overload is two-fold: 1- Have an actionable plan, and goals. 2- Stop buying, and start DOING!

Information overload is a negative for the most part, but when I was first starting out it gave me a lot of ideas and business areas to explore.

But if you continue to be overloaded months or years later, it's a problem.

Knowledge is only good for so long - eventually you've got to do something with that knowledge, even if you are afraid to "miss" something.

I think that in the planning process of your business then information overload can be a good thing, you need to be sure that you have looked at all the angles before you settle on the path you want to focus on. Then you must forget about everything else, all the new fads and just focus.

    • Have to admit it: sometimes you just have to take a break. I agree.

That spell of time off can make a huge difference on how well you assimilate further information.

Stacking too much information in the cerebral cortex and then forcing more is a recipe for STRESS. It is so much better to relax and take the break time of your determination. Then, back to it!

    Agree..

If you want to be successful you need to learn how to focus.

Find something that works.. stick to it until you succeed.

Then move on to the next.

    Cheers,
