Think and Grow Rich, written by Napoleon Hill more than 70 years ago is the best selling success book of all time. If anyone here has read The Secret, then Think and Grow Rich should be a natural progression of that training.

Andrew Carnegie, the Steel Tycoon, commissioned Napoleon Hill to study the most wealthy and successful people in America over a period of 30 years and then write about the common traits they had.

No plugs here, no affiliate links. If you want yet another edge; if you want to know what sets #1 apart from the rest, read this book. You can get it used for like $7. (BTW, I just got my hands on The Secret for $8.50 with shipping. .

Just a warning though regarding the book, it is something you need to practice daily. It doesn't discriminate - everyone must pay the price. But the prize is more than worth it.

    There's much better.

Some of the modern guru material is more direct and focused. The problem with TAGR is that it talks about the thing that does it is "a burning desire" and new teachings are talking about success being more related to removing the subconscious blocks to it.

What you'll find is that everyone has read it, but nobody can attest to that book making them any money, beyond being just motivation. But motivation doesn't overcome subconscous limitation.

Try "Psycho-Cybernetics" for something just as old but a lot more useful in getting clear of the blocks to your success.

Also - see my post on "The Secret" thread going on now in this forum for some other tools that are worthwhile.

Nothing wrong with TAGR, but it makes some basic assumptions that lead you to believe that all you need to to is have the burning desire. YES, you do need that. But you also have to rid yourself of subconscious self-sabotage and things inside you that would make you believe that success is not safe on an inner level.

If you don't do that, no amount of motivational books or speakers will help.

If you DO do that, you'll find success becoming more and more effortless with less and less struggle.

I'm not saying not to get it and read it or that it doesn't have it's place, but it's not as instructional as it's lauded as.

Part of the success requirement from this book and others like it is developing a rock solid mind set that is based on your beliefs. You can read books and practice being grateful, like the LOA suggests, but if you don't believe the principles enough to actually change some of the negative side that we all have, it won't work.

Good point how it is not a "quick rich method". Though it takes time and work, lets not forget that work can and should be enjoyable (most of the time). So doing the work adds a second bonus!

Think and Grow Rich is a classic. It is not just about making money. It is about success in achieving what you want.
Another great book to read is the Science of Growing Rich
