How hard is it to make $1,000 per month?

In you opinion how hard would it be to make $1,000 per month? How soon can this be achieved and how many hours per day do you think it would take?

I want to quit my job and I only need $1,000 per month to quit (I still live with my parents). I've been wanting to do this since the beginning of this year but I still haven't received one check. (Haven't reached $100 in adsense or 5 sales in clickbank yet). I have only written one article and can't seem to motivate myself to write any more. How can I motivate myself to consistently work on building an internet business? Should I start with a smaller goal? Should I try something else besides article marketing?

Very easy. TOO easy in my opinion.

Membership sites are the way forward in my opinion. It's a recurring income on autopilot.

If you sold membership spots at $27 per month, you would only need 38 people signed up to surpass the $1000/m barrier.

However, running a membership site isn't easy. You have to update it with content, keep in touch with your members and worry about all the payments much more.

Well, it may be easy for you today... but I bet it wasn't that easy in the beginning was it?

I speak from experience, nowadays I make more than $1K a month and it's easy for me because I know what do to. However, it wasn't easy for me to reach the $1k mark for the first time because I had no one to guide me and I had to learn everything myself from scratch.

I am actually a part of 3 of those kinds of sites myself: global domains international, yuwie, and zenzuu. The only downsides to those sites is that if you can't build up a downline, they are not very profitable.

if you have some cash to spend (credit cards in my case ), PPC can get you there no problem. i had my $1k day (white hat) not too long ago doing both CPA and aff weight loss products. and if you're willing to get a little shady, you can ave $500/day pretty consistantly..

First question you need to ask yourself is "What value can I provide?" What knowledge, service, information do you have.

Second question is "Who will be helped by this value and who will pay for it."

Third question is "How do I get this value to them." (articles, membership sites, etc)

Throwing junk services, overpriced membership sites, and worthless articles will not build a business long term. Heck, to many people have tried it and it does not seem to be working too well now.

Remember what Zig Ziglar said, "Help people get what they want and they will help you get what you want."

Honest Biz Pro is right, first you decide what value you possess? How will you get the value? If your inner self is satisfied what you are giving against what are you getting?

But before leaving the job plan for a long term earnings. Articles or membership sites etc. are not long term business generating sources.

I starting making this with 1 site in Adsense 6 months or so in. I wrote probably 400 articles by then and had only a couple dozen submitted to directories linking to that site. Even today that same site 5 years later makes me over 20,000 per year.

I'm not talking about bum marketing here per se..that could be about any topic at all..but using articles built around a niche of your choice.

Another approach is to look at the online business models that exist and determine which one fits your skills, budget, time, and personality. If you don't like to do something you can't put your heart into it.

And remember if you don't like to write don't choose a model that requires writing; or buy plr content and rewrite.
Almost any task required for any of the online business models can be outsourced.

Most of all you have to solve a need/problem someone has who is willing to spend money for it online.

As for the number of hours per day. Some people work better in blocks of 1-2 hours. When learning some people need to stick with it a little longer to 'learn' how to do something. Otherwise you have to relearn how to do something each time.

I like to use a checklist.

Other people's attention span is not that long. Time management and task process is very much an individual thing.

    Good luck.

In my opinion, the most important thing is to take action. If you just stay and wait, nothing will happens. Are you reading every day at least an article about marketing? Are you trying to motivate yourself reading successful stories about peoples who are making a fortune on the net?

You said that you can't motivate yourself. You probably have hobbies. Try to find a niche about your hobby, this will keep your interest high and you will not quit after the first wrong step.

Make a step by step plan about you must to do and follow it. Your first $1000 will start with the first $1. If you can earn $1, this is a very good start. Make researches, see what marketing strategy helped you to reach this one buck and try to develop that strategy. Try to find new strategies and test them. See what is working and don't working.

Writing articles is just one way to make money or to promote your business. In this forum you can find a lot of good marketing strategies, just take your time to read and understand how the system is working.

    1) Make a Plan ( You can find so many here at the Warrior Forum)
    2) Take Action
    3) Keep taking Action Consistently

$1000 / month should not be a hard to achieve as long as you keep your eyes on the ball, stick with your plan and not jump from project to project.

Find what you excel at and offer it to as many
      people as possible.

The use of postcards, cold calling, fliers and other
offline marketing tools are great to market to an
      offline market.

If you can design blogs - start pitching the idea
of relationship marketing to local businesses and show
them how to utilize these offline marketing techniques
I just mentioned to drive traffic!

Another great tool is classified ads in local magazines and
      newspapers!

That will bring you in 1k in your first job.

In the offline marketplace 1k is like paypaling someone
      $10 online!

There are literally so many, many ways to make $1000/month in IM. You could do it with one single website with a couple of months of effort.

Use the Google Keyword tool to find a list of highly searched keyword terms. Find an affiliate program related to those keywords and create a Wordpress blog advertising the program. Wrtie 5 new articles a day for specific long-tail keywords that are related to the highly searched keyword term, and build backlinks thus increasing your site's authority. Do this for 30 days and you'll be ranking well under that term and receiving sales.

Really, it's not difficult at all, the above is just a simple example of many, many ways to earn the amount you're enquiring about.

Woah, you need to earn $1000 to be secure, and you're going to quit the day job as soon as you're earning $1000?

    That's a recipe for disaster.

You shouldn't even think about quitting your job until you're earning at LEAST twice as much money as you need to get by, from a number of different sources.

Internet Marketing is an incredibly volatile business.

What if Google changes it's algorithm overnight? What if interest in your product drops? What if you lost that one big client?

Personally, I didn't even consider quitting my day job until I was earning $10,000/month minimum. Once I'd cracked that barrier, I wanted to make the same amount of money over 3 months solid.

It's not just about earning enough money to work for yourself, it's about preparing for how you're going to be earning money in six months time when Plan A fails.

If you don't have a Plan B, or a Plan C, you should hang on to the day job until you do.

I think in your case, you need to go and work out a Plan A.

Yeah, it's not a wise decision quitting your job until you see that your online business is stable. Starting an online business would surely cost you some money. As in all business, the more you invest, the bigger return.

    Are you kidding me?

    That's one sale per day.

You're basically asking "Can I just catch one fish per day in the entire ocean on this planet?"

Choose a great product to sell, Pick your marketing flavor and stick to it.

A SMALL money making review blog with 5 product articles, and one opening article that tells your story.

"Hi my name is ___ and I ____. I still live with my parents and even I can make an income online. Because of this I've decided to expose the money (product topic) scams and review legitimate (topic) opportunities. If I can do it, so can you. "
    And put up a picture.

It doesn't really have to be you, it just has to look as natural as a myspace page or some other nice blog.

Then set up a Twitter page of the same name. Start adding people and making posts. This takes minutes. MINUTES.

Now you have a blog you can promote, with products and articles.

To motivate yourself you need to create long term assets, such as a blog or a website. Something you can "own" that serves as a bedrock.

If you're leaping into the ocean do you swim all by yourself with nothing but a fishing pole, or do you get a boat and a net?

Your website is your boat. Your marketing (twitter, ads, whatever) is your net. Web traffic (millions) are your fish.

Now go fishing. Do it daily. Be patient.

P.S. Ditch adsense and focus on sales. It takes the same amount of effort and pays more.

As a fellow newbie, I think breaking $1000 a month can be difficult, especially at first. Here are some factors you might want to consider:
    1. how much traffic your site or links are getting? Typically, the more traffic your site gets, the more likely people will buy and the more money you can make. Typically, new webmasters will probably not get quality traffic at first since the PR usually starts out at 0 and you have to be able to find ways to get traffic.
    2. conversion rate - the more people that buy, become a lead, sign up for your program, the more money you can make. If you have a low conversion rate, then you probably will not make much at first.
    3. skill level - if you are familiar with web marketing as well as sales-related jobs (such as commission sales jobs), then you will have an advantage when it comes to web marketing (same goes for web design skills). Of course, the total n00b will be in for a challenge, especially at first.
    4. What niche you are focusing in? The more competitive the niche, the harder it will be to make money.

    5. Trends, the more buyers you get, the better of course. Thought that I would point those out.

Lots of great advice in this post. I'd add simply to make sure you focus on one project at a time rather than spreading yourself too thin (as most of us do at the start). Adsense used to be an easy way to make recurring money, and while it's no longer quite as easy to make that $1k a month with it, it still works as a simple way to monetize your traffic while you are working on products of your own. Just making a buck or two per day at the start can really provide you with the incentive to keep at it, focus, and develop your site and product/s.

I would start out by doing blog posting so you can understand the nuts and bolts that drive the web mainly traffic and backlinks. Once you're comfortable with paid posting then you can start $5 articles. I'd read any book you can on copywriting to build up those skills as well. I find that people like my articles alot and I'm really just following basic college essay writing format.

Honestly I found that the 1st 1000.00 per month is the hardest to make. It's all about the education my friend. I chose network marketing as my path and struggled for about six months because I didn't know how to get free leads on the internet.

Now, I've learned how to get lots of free leads and recruit without ever having to talk to a single person. I'm not making 100k, but I'm extremely happy with my system and now I'm able to show my downline a proven path to making money online.

Really, I would ask myself what I enjoyed to do! 1000.00 a month is not worth doing something that you don't enjoy. Besides, that's why we all wanted out of our jobs in the first place. We didn't enjoy it!

1 article won't make you rich...

I like destination sites, depending where you live you could make a site about that particular area, write good and helpful restaurant reviews, take pictures around your area and soon you have a good unique site to promote...

Alternatively, you can purchase 100 articles for a site about any niche you think is profitable, shoot them up on a WP with a nice template and start building links...

Soon the site will be making money which you should reinvest to do another site same way until you reach your goal.

Never, ever use words like "hard".

Your question should be "how easy is it to make "$1000 per month"?

    The answer is very easy.

If you make it hard it will be hard - and this is reflected in your results so far.

In life, be it sport, IM or anything, 95%+ is in the Mind, everything else is application.

I know I keep saying this, but IM is gazillions times easier than bricks and mortar.

When I started in business 33 years ago, I was 24 years old with nothing.

I sold my car - all I had - and started a national computer business against many established huge companies and I succeeded.

I succeeded for one reason - I never doubted that I would succeed.

Making $1000 per day is as easy as making $1000 per week or month - only you decide whether you can or not.

Never use words like: hard, try, hope etc.

As Yoda said: "do or do not - there is no try".

    Wise and true.

In my opinion it's pretty hard to get started (at least was for me), but when you have something to work with (aka a project like membership site, product, report etc) you can invest your time to make that one thing you're working on profitable. And in time it will (sometimes very fast) explode in a big moneymaker. You'll look back and think "Damn, I never thought this was so easy"

To sum up- you need to have something to work on and focus on making that one project successful.

Focus on one niche and make it work.

      Forget the products and strategies.

$1000 a month isn't that hard yet. I would try building a list of subscribers in whatever niche you are in. Get leads, build trust...and then profit.

This creates customers for LIFE, not just the one time sale.

In this way, if you find a good new affiliate product in your niche, you could send out a promotion, and make $1000 a day with just that one product.

The challenge here seems to be this. Thoughts are things. If you are thinking that it is "difficult" or you are "trying" to make $1000.00 a month, you will never do it.

Change the thought pattern. "This is going to be easy!" "Just a stepping stone to 10,000 a month".

"People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don't believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and if they can't find them, they make them." George Bernard Shaw

Love that quote...and very relevant here.

Change your thoughts and you will change your life.

Exactly - people create their own limitations.

The big IM'ers do not know the meaning of the word "limitation". I heard Frank Kern made around $5M in a couple of days not so long back, and it isn't the first time. Plenty of people make millions in days and plenty more makes millions in a year.

If you think $1000 is hard it will be. If you think $10,000 is easy it will be.

      There are no limits.

A thousand dollars per month is absolutely nothing - believe me.

But only if you stay with it. Most give up at the first hurdle.

Business is like a snowball on a hill. At first you have to keep pushing it as it gets bigger and bigger, but then when it reaches a certain size it achieves its own momentum, and it is impossible to stop it rolling.

Successful IM'ers could not stop making money if they tried - which they wouldn't.

ok if you have only written one article and your focused on articles that could ( IMO is ) why your not getting the level of success you want. Picture your destination in your mind, become what you desire to be and then assert yourself. I make 4k a month just off one tactic every single month without having to do a thing..... passive income.

Think outside of the box. read online and get the gears going in your mind. Innovate. Be a trend setter. Create and explore differing options. I found one nice tid bit and expanded on it to make 4k a month passive income , granted it took me 6 months to get there but I got there. You can too if you have faith and motivation but.... no one can motivate you but yourself. That my friend has to come from within.

1,000 a month is only about $33 a day. I would guess that at most you only want to work 1 or 2 hours a day. If is a short term income you could create and sell content websites or ebook sites. If you want a long term income you could create a product during the first week of the month and then sell it and build your list for the next 3. There are a ton of ways to make the money, just read some of the forums and pick a method you like and stick to it.

Think outside of the usual generic platitudes like...

    "Take action"

    "Don't work hard, work smart"

    "Get a job"

...if one can remove themselves from this white bread advice, they'll be way ahead of the pack.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I'm still having trouble deciding on a business model. what business model would be good for someone who is more of a programmer type instead of a salesman? I think my biggest problem is learning how to sell. How do I learn this skill? I've realized that learning how to start an online business is nothing like school or learning to program. That is what I am good at, reading material and understanding the logic behind it and then applying that logic, like in math or accounting. I'm not good at all at persuading people. I'm wondering if starting an internet business is really for me or not.

As for the $1,000 per month, that is all I really need to quit my job, I've tracked my expenses and they come out to be about $500 per month. I'm making about $700 per month at my job but I ABSOLUTELY HATE my job! I feel more like a slave than an employee and it's extremely intense physical labor that I am just sick of. I sometimes would rather be homeless than work there. I'm looking for another job but I can't seem to find anything that I an qualified for and would enjoy, the only jobs that I seem qualify for are either warehouse or door-to-door sales.

I don't want to continue on ranting but I think I have severe depression and I think this might be effecting my ability to start making money online.

I have a few more questions though. I have about 50 ebooks that I have bought and about 100 free ebooks that I have downloaded, how do I sift through all these ebooks and make a business plan? Should I just choose one to follow religuosly and delete the rest? Also, I have a few business ideas but they require a few hundred dollars and I'm scared to risk my savings, should I just take the plunge and invest the money or should I try to make an initial $500 or so with article marketing even though I hate writing articles? And one last question: how much capital do I need to start making money with PPC?

    Thanks.

When trying to be successful in internet marketing, as well as any other challenging task, you have to have faith. You won't always see results within the first few days, or the first few weeks for that matter, but you have to have faith that it will work out for you.

After a week or so you'll start seeing a sale here or there and that will really help keep you motivated.

With each new sale you'll stop having to rely so much on faith to keep you motivated and start saying to yourself, "Hey, there really is something to this whole internet marketing thing."

    Hope this helps

You can do it...you can make more than that
if you put into action the tips given here in

You will have to take action. That's the key.

Now, I worked like a dog, but I knew I was on
to something. I started learning more about
    outsourcing...just by reading threads on

And all that is working from scratch...learning
    from others...listening...taking action. That's it!

So go for it...IF you REALLY want to quit your job.

    I've got a better idea.

People are going to kill me for telling you this, but here it goes...

Find freelance web designers and web designing companies (at least 100) who can design top quality websites.

Next, go and hang around the rich. If if any of them need a new website get them one and charge commision on top.

Say they need a smashing website and they're willing to pay $10,000 for it.

Find a company who can give them what they want for $8,000 and receive your $2,000 commision.

    Simple!

You only have to do it once a month and you have double what you asked for already.

I say you need to read some sales books and MLM marketing books. Amazon is a perfect place to find them.

Remember to think big. You have the power to achieve anything.

Most people seem to go on about emails, autoresponder etc, but people forget about direct mail and mobile. You can create a product and sell it via those channels by buying existing mailing lists of targetting people very cheaply and legally.

If you get a list of 10,000 people into body building for example, you can send out an offer with a monthly subscription such as a supplement or newsletter with a price of $47 a month. Say you get 1% conversion, that is 100 people buying. That means you get $4700 recurring income. Put some of that into buying bigger lists and you are laughing. Obviously you need a decent product and know where to get the lists from.

You can PM me for more details.

Dude, $1000 per month is EASY. Of course, I say that because I am successful, but those who haven't been successful will tell you that's it's hard (obviously).

I'd recommend you forget everything you know, like article marketing and stuff.. and start using CPA networks. Everyone starts off on level ground and $1000 per month is ridiculously easy.

Btw, I'm running a JV where I make people 1-4k per month per account in their CPA account and give them 25%. So basically if you got 4 accounts and I made you 1k per account per month and you got 25%, that's $1000 a month right there. Number of hours for you = 0. Or maybe 1 to send me a check?

    Hope this helps.

Imagine your starting out in a brick and mortar business, you wouldn't rent a premesis, buy a tonne of stock, hire staff and etc until you have done your homework!

Internet business is no different do your homework and identify a market!!!
A lot of people just starting out will jump in two feet and chase their tail for months and months before standing back and making one of two decisions

    1) Give up!

2)Invest in some training, coaching and tools.

Assuming your going to choose number 2 ( I hope so) your first few months can be considered a baptism into the IM world. I have never met anyone online ( or in the business world) that started their business and made a profit overnight. The set up costs for any businesss will take time to pay off.

Example if I was to set up a conventional dry cleaning business, lets say £25,000 total investment it's gonna take a lot of pound coins to clear the initial investment before I ever truly see a profit!

In IM your going to spend some money on tools ( the right ones) and a whole bunch in time. Yes you can outsource a lot of the work but starting out it's always good to learn some skills yourself so you have a fundemental grasp of the basics.

Identifying a market is all about research, research, research. You can get a tonne of information straight from google for free using their keyword tool, find related products on clickbank and look to create a website/ blog based around the niche. Do your homework and look what offers the competition are doing. Make your offer stronger.

There are a few short cuts, get a great mentor!, build some strong relationships, become a great student! Act on what you learn!

I reccommend starting out with adwords, the reason why is simple. It's the cleanest traffic out there and super controllable. If it all gets out of control you can switch it off immediately.

Assuming your driving traffic using adwords start out just on the Google search only. There is an argument that using a broad keyword initially can allow google to determine other profitable keywords using its fuzzy logic. If you want to be more cautious start with exact match only and build your campaign into themes. Grouping keywords into themes gives google a better chance at expanding out to other relevant terms later on.

Never Never Never drive traffic to a replicated website, build a capture page and drive traffic to that, look to capture the visitors details and send them on to your offer. Whether they decide to buy or not you can look to market to them later on through an autoresponder series. Super Cool

By building a list your RoI can be significantly increased, you can look to monetize your list with related offers and later on once you have a campaign running that is working you can build your own better product and offer it to your list.....

    To Your First $1000 then

    Mark

      It doesn't have to.

I can't get over why so many people subscribe to the belief that it will take time.

Now, don't get me wrong internet marketing has a steep learning curve but it's a learning curve that's much easier to climb when you're constantly learning by DOING as much as by reading.

Get my drift? You can read all day and not make a dime.

Or you can read how to put up a website and then go make an attempt.

An ugly, broken website has the possibility of making a sale. No website has no possibility.

Always be doing. Always be acting. Always push forward. Never succumb to "analysis paralysis." It can cost you days, weeks, months, and even years of your life.

You learn by doing. You profit by doing. Do, do, do, do.

You won't break the internet if you mess it up. You get unlimited do-overs. Use 'em.

Combine this habit of doing with the habit of learning from your mistakes as well as the habit of constantly testing and you'll be at $1,000 a month and beyond in no time.
