Single One Best Piece of Advice...

Since I was young, I've sort of been obsessed with talking to highly successful people (in all disciplines and walks of life). When highly successful people give advice, it almost always revolves around mindset and attitude...

So...

What's one piece of advice that that somebody successful has given you?

Let's see how many of these are mindset related!

the rich get richer the poor get poorer ..

i believes gary halberts line .was if you have no money look at yourself as broke ..broke you can do something about ..poor is way of life .

i may be penniless ..but i am not poor .. i eat a little more than i should . have a roof over my head , have access to a car i can drive when i want , a computer with net access and the wealth of infor..i just currently don't have money comming in..which i can fix

where as somone who has a poor mindset can make 1000 dollars a week but they get a lifstyle that costs them 1100 a week or that 1000 .and are constantly feeling behind .

where as a rich person or someone getting rich but looking poor ..has their money doing something to make them more money

One of my mentors gave me a wrist band few years ago that said the following.

"If I can, I will. Failure is not an option."

I still wear it to this day.

Some of the best advice that I think I've gotten is as follows. Don't commit a felony or get one on your record, don't have unplanned children, and don't get a bad disease. Everything else is pretty much just experimentation and practice.

A very wise and successful marketer said, "Perfectionism will leave you broke." In other words, when a product is complete, put it out there. Don't wait till it's perfect (in your mind) before putting it out. Along the same lines, another wise and successful marketer said, "There are pretty websites and ugly websites, and they both make money."

I had an epiphany one night talking to a fellow from Detroit.

You always hear the term, "You are who you hang out with"

Well, it never quite sunk in just how powerful that is!

If all of your friends are millionaires, what do you think you will become?

If all of your friends drink and do drugs... what will you do?

If all of your friends are nice, successful, and honest, how will you act?

If anyone disagrees I would LOVE to hear why.

'Fail fast and fail often' - it may sound counter-intuitive but you have to be realistic and accept that failure will happen more than success but it's the successes that matter.

So don't spend all your time and energy flogging a dead horse - if you've given a project a suitable amount of your effort and the returns have not been what you expected, take a step back, think rationally and either plough on and make it work or accept failure and redirect your energy into something else.

I've learnt this only too well recently after spending months of my working life on a project only to realise that it is not the right time or the right product so I've put it on the backburner and maybe I'll return to it one day - but for now it's onto pastures new.

Just don't get catch shiny object syndrome in the WSO forum...!
