Hi was just wondering if anyone is a polyphasic sleeper here? meaning you sleep roughly 2 hrs a day by 20-30 min naps 4-6 times a day. I was thinking of starting it but not sure yet haha.

Cheers

Didn't Steve Pavlina do a big test on this? As I recall, one of the drawbacks was social isolation, since he wasn't on the same clock as friends and family. He had to take naps in the middle of family time, which meant that while he was up most of the night, he missed out on wife time during "primetime."

Didn't he also say that he had some unfortunate sleep deprivation-like side effects?

He has a whole series on it - I suggest reading about his experiment before doing it yourself.

Personally, I wish I could get more solid sleep, and fall asleep faster, not get less, shorter, more sporadic sleep!

    Regards, Georgetta

    Hi
I've tried polyphasic sleep before, because I am a highly busy person. What I can say is, it is very hard to keep the habit. One day, you might just end up sleeping for over 12 hours, and you realize you just lost your ability. Furthermore sleep deprivation isn't really good for the brain, do take your health into consideration

I had a friend that tried to do it for a few weeks. He eventually started hallucinating and falling into micro-sleeps of a few minutes. He eventually gave up.
Personally I can't survive on less the 10 hours of sleep per night.

Thaty sleep habit does not work , remember 6-8 is best. If you are not sleeping good after one nights bad sleep you lose 20% of your mental abilities.

It depends on the person. But I wouldn't suggest it, it seems like waay too little to be healthy... maybe if you have a SHORT term goal on a project you're a little behind on, but there's the whole sleep-deprived brain thing that gets in the way lol.

I think it may make more sense to cut 4 hours off of your sleep time at night and make it up half way (2ish hours) in longer->shorter naps. From 8 go to 6 hours of sleep (say you woke up at 6am), at 10 am or so take a 45 minute nap, at 1-2pm a 30 minute nap, a 20-30 minute nap at 5pm depending on how you feel and that comes to a total of 7 hours and 45 to 55 minutes of sleep, but it doesn't (in theory) make you have a funky day because you got too little sleep and then had to survive on cat naps - you have a longer one when you just got up.

ps. I edited this. The way I wrote it at first ... didn't work lol. I fixed it, but how ironic - I'm running on a sleep deprived brain today, and got a whole lot more than 2 hours spread out in phases of naps! haha

I have seen most of us here are working hard to utilize the life as best as possible. We are trying to get the output of 3 lives from our single life and Polyphasic Sleep is a try to expand the working time and reduce the non productive time of a day.

I must say we have one single life and our desires are unlimited. The best way I have found so far is "Gratitude". Your creater has blessed you with so much already. Just explore them and you will find, you are already have too much beyond your imagination. This sense will enhance your attitude towards life. Don't waste is to run against those desires which, when you get them will be worthless for you...
