Top Of The World: A Great Tip For Keeping Happy

14 replies
I thought I would share a tip that I learned when researching depression and this is from an interview I had with a bi-polar depression sufferer;

Make a habit of counting chimneys, or try to find shapes in the clouds, when walking in the fresh air. By doing this, more light is taken in through your eyes and your dopamine (your 'feel good' hormone) levels rise as a result

I don't know about you guys, but I'm WAY more productive when I'm happy!

Alex

    You are quite right about it. When walking in fresh air if you involve your self in some keen observations that must sustain in your mind. You allow your self to open for more data and information to pass your filters that most of the time block things to come to you.

    In this way your mind does some extra work and that additional amount of wave energy produces positive effects on you to get rid of depression...

    Fresh air will almost always make anybody feel better. It's important to enjoy good weather and be outdoors, it always helps improve my mood.

    Whenever I need to take a break from working, I take a walk outside and breathe some fresh air. It always clears my mind and helps me relax, and refreshed myself so I can work more effectively.

      I plan to take a trip to Mount Everest base camp. I don't know when but this is one of the most important things I want to do before I leave this world. I will do it in 2010 if I can or maybe in 2011 which might even be a better year for me to do it.

      Being up there I bet I will pick up a lot of very positive stuff!

      Let there be light!! :-)

    Agreed Alex, tried counting the cars outside in the street but they kept moving. I'll try using stationary items.

        I have found that when ever I feel sad of tense, I feel there are dark clouds every where, what if every thing is going well.... But if you feel happy you can cross the sea of intense problems.

    Alex-- you are right. 20 minutes of daylight (even if clouds are out or rain, doesn't matter) on retinas a day automatically elevates the mood w/ dopamine and other great stuff. When you feel like crap, go outside! It really works.

    I think the best way to be happy is to make others near you happy...that really boosts your spirit, making you even happier. I must tell you that seeing a smile at others face makes you more enthusiastic and makes you much merrier than anyone else. That truly makes your life worth living and enjoyable.

    Fresh air is wonderful (love the idea for counting chimneys) but just moving is important. Getting outside and doing something active. If you go from chair, to sofa, to bed, you're not creating any activity for your body and that's why so many feel sluggish.
    Just the walk for fresh air would do a body and mind good!

    Thanks for the tip!
