Keeping the Momentum in Your Motivation

Have you started working on keeping your motivation up but seem to keep losing ground? Does it feel like an uphill battle? Sometimes it's hard to keep the momentum going, but that's the thing about momentum, it may build gradually, but once you get it going it can take off.

Think of a rollercoaster. When the rollercoaster takes off heading up that first steep climb, it sort of putt-putts along. The gears are turning, but it's a slow climb. Once the rollercoaster reaches the top and starts heading down the other side, that's when it has momentum. That's when it really starts zooming along and giving you the thrill you were seeking.

Life is like that in a lot of cases and motivation works exactly like that.

Here are some tips to keep your motivation putting along until it reaches the point that it almost takes off on its own.

Practice Daily
Note the word practice. Just like anything you want to master and get good at, it takes practice. Keeping your motivation level high is no different. You need to decide you are going to make a daily commitment to staying upbeat and reaching for your goals and then you have to do it.

You can use vision boards to post pictures of what you goal looks like and things that inspire you. Display it in a location that you see several times a day.
You can write out motivational quotes and post them all over your house. Put them on your bathroom mirror, on your fridge, close to your TV if you watch TV. You can even post them on the dashboard of your car.

Change things up
This is very important. If you've been using the same methods over a period of time, it's likely you've gotten used to them and they don't have the same spark as they did. Think up new ways to keep yourself motivated. Change the quotes you have posted around the house. Keep a supply that you can rotate.

Find a new motivational speaker if you listen to audios. You may have grown tired of that persons voice. Find a new one. Don't forget to rotate those as well.

Rotate the songs on your playlist that get you going. Everyone gets tired of listening to the same old music all the time. Create several playlists that you can listen to. Switch it up. You can even mix songs from two or three playlists into a new one. Have you ever noticed that after you listen to a playlist, you know exactly which song is next? This can get mundane. Move them around. This is also very good for your brain too. Your brain gets used to things too. By changing things up that causes your brain to create new neural pathways, so it stays healthy and happy.

Don't give up!
You will have obstacles and some days it will seem like everything is going wrong. This is when most people give up because they think it's not working. However, if you look at it as if it's only a test or a challenge, you'll be better able to deal with. That will help keep you determined to master motivation.
Keep climbing that rollercoaster hill. The thrill on the other side is definitely worth it.
