hello,

so my dream/goal.. is to live tropical country on a good sized piece of land on or near the beach that is able to grow a good amount of food .

my long distance fiance and i share a similar dream.. and we both want to run a small resort . and with her and my skills/ideas combined the ideal customer would me someone who make their income from the internet ..and can stay 2 week to 2 months ..

now i can entertain with all the spiritual and mindset stuff i have been working on learning , and she can coordinate outsourcing .

so i have a question . what resources would you need on hand if you where to stay somewhere for 2 weeks or more that allowed you to stay productive . and also relax and what would you rather not have around that would normally be part of a vacation resort .

p.s. and yes i know this is probably the wrong forum section

Wherever I go, I think I can't go without my laptop and internet connection. It's the two things that keep me productive. I also need my mobile phone to keep in touch. People say to stay away from the digital stuffs and have a real vacation but I don't think I can.

real vacations are for the 90 percent of people who really do not like what they do to make money ..

i am more into building a resort for the people who like what they do and can do it from nearly any location ..so say instead of hacking away mid winter in the state while it i just really really cold someone can be relaxing in a warm shadey spot on the beach sitting comfortably with a lap top on the table in front of them and a view of the beach

I own a resort essentially like this. Although we are not on the beach, it's a house for life design types to come and experience the culture in Colombia and work one on one with me. You can see the property here

Okay first, I'll say what I'd want to have in order to function.

Laptop, internet connection, phone with data plan, and an enclosed area with a table/chair and nice view.

    Now for what I'd need..

    Phone with data plan.

Once you get things down to a science and really understand what you're doing you can live very minimally. Most of my work is either done on a small iPhone or my laptop. But I could handle everything just fine with an iPhone alone. I'd probably want to bring an attachable keyboard along with it as well though... I wouldn't have any interest in serious typing on a phone lol.

    Anyways, there ya have it.

It's possible. You can do it. I travel every few weeks and when doing so I'm still able to work just fine.

That's exactly what I am dreaming about. Let's get it real.

I recently took a 2 week road trip with my son across the US. I run my business online, so it's not hard for me to work remotely. But I would have to say the number 1 most important factor - is a reliable internet connection. Traveling from Hotel to Hotel - the connection varied widely from ZERO connectivity to sketchy at best. Having a backup hotspot with my cell - saved me some nights from zero productivity. Even before I booked a hotel, I would check to see if they offered Wifi, but just because they SAY they offer it, doesn't mean you're going to be able to connect to it.

    • I like the idea of privacy with a view of the beach. I would also like to have access to refreshments while I work. High speed internet wireless access is an absolute, given.

I would not like to be at a place that looked like every other resort with a pool and lined up chairs and recliners. I would prefer a more rustic, coconut palm white sand beach.

The best of good fortune to you on that, Odahh.

    l2s ,

no pool , i do not like pools unless they are the shore pools built 100 + years ago where the tide rolls in fills the pool and keeps the water in once the tide rolls out .

I am defiantly thinking rustic over luxury with fun stuff to do but with little chance for others to be distracting lol ..with comfy small homes to stay in wtih room too live and a place to work quietly..

and then a more shaded out door area that allows many people to sit relax and work and have good food available close .

no gym but maybe a weightlifting system .. but exercise is either walking/jogging around the resort area .. or swimming kayaking in the water right there ..
