A VERY simple book on LOA/Mindset Please..

Hi,
I've read the books, watched the videos. I believe in the Law of Attraction and I'm totally motivated but............................I have a wife who is the opposite.

She wants the good things in life (don't we all), but she still believes that working 8 hours a day for somebody else and going to Church on Sunday is the way forward. I've tried convincing her otherwise but it's not working. I need some more ammunition.........

She doesn't read a lot of books so I'm after something really simple to present to her that will persuade her to beleive in the power of the mind.

Any suggestions???????

Thanks in anticipation

Neill

“Think And Grow Rich” (Napoleon Hill) is a good book. Not LOA per se but definitely one of the success/motivation classics.

It's now in the public domain meaning you can download it online (search Google) and read it for free.

      Thanks Johnathon, I appreciate that.

Yes, I've read that one and I think it's great, especially for somebody who is interested in the subject. Unfortunately, what I am trying to do is to convert a sceptic who has a belief that we are what we are and we can't do anything about it.

I think I need more of a simplistic product to show her otherwise. Don't know if it exists but I'll try anyway.

        Hello Neill,

The book "Mindset: The New Psychology of Success" by Carol Dweck might help her as your wife seem to believe in FIXED mindset and Carol talks about GROWTH mindset, that would help her to look at her in a different perspective.

        Hope this helps,
        Isa.

I have a similar spouse situation, the conclusion? Don't even try to convince her of anything, cuz you won't.

Better to make things happen for yourself, and once she sees actual results, then she will come around. Trust me, this is what I had to do. No amount of reading or convincing will change her mind, only results will.

Excellent reply - thanks a lot.

To be honest I'd already thought of that one but something inside of me said "No - try to get her to understand". But I think you're right, I'd just be pushing a rock uphill.

      Onward and upward - solo.........

    E2 by Pam Grout.
Actually it is E with a superscript 2 as in E-squared.
    The sub-title is:
Nine Do-It-Yourself Energy Experiments That Prove Your Thoughts Create Your Reality

EDIT Here is the Amazon link:

    Amazon.com: E-Squared: Nine Do-It-Yourself Energy...Amazon.com: E-Squared: Nine Do-It-Yourself Energy...

The first experiment has to do with asking for a sign that this stuff works. I thought, "Okay, I'll try it. Just show me something weird."

That night I had a dream that my wife and I went snow skiing in Hawaii. How silly it that? But in the dream we were at the top of a mountain in Hawaii, it was covered with snow, and I was frantic to find a sign-post with the mountain's altitude posted. In the dream it was somehow most important that I learn the altitude, and in the dream I found a sign post that said "Altitude 13,796 feet."

Next morning when I remembered having the dream, that dream seemed toooooo strange. So, just for grins I Googled "ski Hawaii" and learned there is skiing on the top of the volcano which has an altitude of 13,796 feet. Whoa, where did that come from?

Another experiment said to think of a friend from whom you have not heard in some time and visualize that friend calling you. So on a Saturday afternoon, I thought about a friend named Jim. I had not talked with him in months. Three evenings later, the phone rang. There was Jim on the other end of the line, and he said, "I thought about calling you Saturday, but got busy."

    Oooooo - Twilight Zone music.

The third one was to think of something unusual, and ask the power in the universe to let you see it. So, I thought about a purple, spiked, Mohawk haircut. Those haven't been around for years.

Next day I was looking up how to do something in Photoshop, and came across a video demonstrating what it was I wanted to learn. The photograph the "instructor" was using for the demonstration was an image of 4 guys. When he zoomed in close, one of the guys in the photo was wearing his hair in a spiked Mohawk. You guessed it, the guy's hair was purple!

    Yes, this stuff works.

Some thirty years ago my wife and I attended the Silva Method course, and we each have been through it about 6 times now. That course is what made me a believer. We've been using the "techniques" ever since.

Jonathan Livingston Seagull, written by Richard Bach is probably the type of book you're after. For easy reading. Can probably even be done in one sitting. So many references to talk about. He had left the regular 9to5 job of being a seagull and eating trash to follow something that he only hoped would work out. It's about pursuing the dream, living with passion, believing in yourself. Being judged by the elders of flock. And of course none of it would have meant anything without the higher seagulls showing up to teach him until he had made a commitment and been following through on it for a while. Plenty to reference and talk about there. It's about as simple as it gets.

I will second E2 by Pam Grout. Just read that when it launched a month or so ago and it was fantastic.

But one to really ease someone into LOA would be Alladin Factor by Jack Canfield and Ask and it is Given by Ester and Jerry Hicks....

Well maybe not that one. Just remembered Ester is speaking from a supreme being called Abraham. Might be to much to handle at first lol. Stick with Alladin Factor

"The Power of Your Subconscious Mind" by Joseph Murphy's one of my favorite LOA books. It's pretty simple and straight forward.
