Puncture Your Dreaming And Squeeze The Action Gland

There is an acid test for productivity. It is the dreaded "Journal". You see if honestly approached the journal as a self-correcting internal tool will reveal the workings of your day and the productivity of your life level in a relatively short time.

It is sort of the Ferrari of focused "self-help, self-discovery" tools. It also doubles as a personal motivator because you know you are committed to timely honest entries about your daily activity. You'll automatically want to impress yourself, your performance. However, you can't trust waiting till the end of your day to make those entries. Studies have shown taking the time to make at least four entries each waking day is the optimum input for accuracy and believability. You'll undoubtedly question some of your entries rereading them at a later date.

This exercise is completely relative to the individual practicing it. No matter who you are, you will have an incredible window of insight into your productivity level within a month for sure. One thing is certain. Your eyes will be opened for bad or good.

Yes - it's a sobering exercise. One can quickly see how much time is wasted on non essential activity that is contributing not one iota towards your goals

Hmm, I've never tried this but it def. sounds like you're onto something. Question: can a to do list double as the type of journal you're talking about?

For example, I use a tool called the $5 dollar action enforcer to manage my to do items and after each session the tool gives me the option of creating a report of the tasks I completed along with how long it took to finish each action item.

It sounds like the same concept you're talking about and has been helpful to me so I was curious on getting your take. Tnx

Where does the $5 come in? Do you reward yourself with cash into a separate account?

That's just the name of the tool. I think the product creator just named it that because it was initially offered as a $5 wso, but don't quote me

I actually do something similar... sort of. I don't keep a journal, because I've never found myself interesting enough to talk about to myself. XD lol

Instead, I keep an Outlook calendar-to-do list that is color-coded by activity and set in 15-minute periods. With a calendar, I can move things around and keep an accurate list of everything that I've done during the day.

It also doubles as a to-do list, so I always know what I need to do next, what I have left to do, and what I've already accomplished, and all at a glance (since it's color-coded).

Plus, I don't have to remember my schedule. That might just be the best part. XD hahahaha
