I made my first dollar from adsense on my personal blog.

Then, I started writing for content farms.

Ah, content farms I think I'm one of the few freelance writers that look back on content farm work with fondness - I built my first penny-pinching client base with oDesk, and got some of my best testimonials from them.

I still go back to browse from time to time - I actually get a decent paying gig every other month or so there haha

Companies that pay chump change for articles, blog posts, etc.

I put oDesk and Elance freelance writing gigs in the same category, because the majority of the work there is low pay for regurgitated internet content. That will be resold or used primarily for googlebot feed (:

I think they're called content farms and content mills for the same reason we call large scale breeders puppy mills.

Something to do with ethics I suppose.

Maybe ethics isn't the best word, but they're generally looked down on in the freelance writing world because of how badly new writers get ripped off, even when their copy is good.

I used to do articles for shit pay. Found out through a WSO that I could get more than shit pay for my articles. I upped the price and will NEVER work for 1.50$ an article again. That is so OVER for me.

Some still have that check somewhere hiding in their room, if not, right on their desk, as a photocopy version.

My first profit online was several years ago selling an affiliate marketing guide via pay-per-click. I must have made something like $4 but it was a good moment as I realized that I could make money online.

Then I had success with SEO and at the peak was making $1500/month.

Now I'm a lot more focussed and dedicated and am founding an Information Publishing Organization (at the content creating stage) and it's really rewarding work. : ) Aiming for _at least_ 6 figures/month.

My first dollar online was when I was 17. I was a graphic designer specializing in Mixtape cover design.

I mainly marketed myself to the influenceer in the market (learned it from Dan Kennedy).

With two months I had designed 9 Covers for $125 each.

Within five months I bout my first car 2000 Mustang GT.

I felt like I was on top of the globe...

Then, I got into a dirt-biking accident and couldn't walk for 2 months straight and suffered from a mile case of amnesia.

After that, I started to sell cars and got eventually got into marketing and copywriting and eventually started my own company.

    Sorry if that was long-winded...

I started off online back in 1997 not with a computer but with WebTV so I could start buying online while buying from the Home Shopping Network... Lol... then in 99 I upgraded to a PC... and in 2001 Finally Realized I needed my own product to sell.

So I spent a week writing an ebook on How To Start A Pet Photography Business and started selling it on eBay... and it felt really great that my first months earnings exceeded my full time pay from driving tractor-trailers.

Gave me the confidence to quit driving trucks and stick to doing photography and Internet Marketing... the best thing about it is the lifestyle.

Instead of living in a run down area of Wilkes-Barre Pennsylvaina, I now live in Sunny Queensland Australia having Fun in the Surf and Sun!

Please allow me to divide this between online and Internet. First bucks were from selling computer parts and pieces in 1986 on the old boards and forums. Mostly PC clone stuff.

Then on the Internet in 1997 sold The Professional Remote Direct Marketing Home Study Course which I had developed for a big marketer. My commission on the sale was several hundred dollars. Not bad for using a free website, I sent NO product, I was in effect an affiliate. It hasn't always been that easy to make a thousand bux in commission, but it sure is FUN.

I was influenced by a man, Marlon Sanders who was one of the first remote direct marketers on the Internet, thanks Marlon.
