Seeking Advice: How to avoid the Itty Bitty Shitty Committee?

I'm constantly finding myself saying "Oh i can't do this" or "That's not possible" or the most popular "I cant afford that!"

I understand part of being able to succeed and make money means to be open to everything and believe in the possibilities. But when that doubt comes around the corner and your mind keeps telling you that its not possible or to much work, what do you do to fire the "Itty Bitty Shitty Committee?" or change that thought pattern?

Find people who made it possible, who did do it and were successful and learn from them.

and if you really are too poor to afford things use search terms like "Free" or "Torrent" ... but always remember if you take something from someone without paying and you get value from it and never return the favor you're hurting the community.

First of all, I love that saying "Itty Bitty Shitty Committee". It's great!

I know exactly where you are coming from on this one, it's certainly a tough one. For me, I realised the biggest problem was I didn't realise what was possible.

I also had the wrong mindset, entrepreneurs make things happen and since that's what I wanted to be, I knew had to make some changes with the way I thought about things.

As for the not knowing what was possible, I found listening and reading about other peoples success stories kind of forced myself to accept that what I was dreaming of, could become a reality.

Go check out some podcasts, they motivate me every morning. I'd recommend "Entrepreneur on Fire", "The Tropical MBA Podcast" and "The Suitcase Entrepreneur".

Itty Bitty Shitty Committee, man I love that saying!

I chose entrepreneurship over further education despite being laughed at by my friends and family..

I recently hit the "RESTART" button on my life, read my personal blog to find out how I did it :)

I never heard of the saying before. I do like it though. lol I know it's hard to push away the negative thoughts. There's been a lot of years, especially recently when I've been stressed, very depressed, and quite frankly fed up with things not working out in my life. Constant failures and bad things happening back to back. Right now, I'm fighting my track record of constant disaster with positive thoughts. It's saving me right now.

Whenever I feel myself going back to old habits, I keep one quote in my head and then tell myself that I can do this. Anything is possible, it doesn't matter what situation you are in, whatever you want to achieve can happen. Keep surrounding yourself with positive energy. If something doesn't work out, then find a positive and keep going. Always find a positive to stay afloat. As soon as you feed into the doubts it will consume you. Audrey Hepburn once said, Nothing is Impossible, the word itself says I'm possible. I think about that quote all the time. You can find a positive in any negative. You can't do this? How do you know you can't if you haven't tried? If you tried and it didn't work out, well now you know what not to do and you keep moving forward. If you keep working hard to reach success, you will get there.

Sometimes it good to voice out the negative thoughts and then immediately banish it by thinking about something positive. I know it helps me a lot.

if you are at this point and i was there for a hell of a long time .

you are either per suing something that really doesn't fit you but have not really evaluated yourself in enough of a detailed way . to know weather or not .

or your ego is protecting it's vision of who you are that you have had it define you as for most of your life .

now transmute your egow into a growth oriented ego.. find out what fits you .

then when you run into something you want to do that you feel fits you . turn

i can't do this into can i do this or how can I do this .

i'ts impossible into is someone like me doing this ..or change this into..it seems really really really realy hard and like a lot of work ..and i don't know it will be worth it .

then with the i can't afford it .. trust me .. i am broke so i could always this baby ..even now ..and if i kept using this one ..to get away with not doing anything and making no changing i would have probably offed myself sometime in the last 2 years ..or i would be on government funded disability stuffing my face with junk food to have an early heart attack .

i definitely can not afford to do the next thing i want to do .

but it is a small amount of money involved 15-20 k ..so for the last month i have been structuring the dream wondering how i could get others to invest in it

To take a page out of Tony Robbins book, you can say "CANCEL" to yourself or outloud (if you're alone) anytime that kind of "stinkin thinkin" crops up.

One of my favorite ways to clear out the "mind poo" is to constantly fill it with examples of others who've done the kinds of things I endeavor to do. I listen to audio interviews, read books and attend events to learn from others who've already achieved a level of success that I aspire to.

  • LinkContracter in another thread had this to say and it my be very helpful:

    "Procrastination is doing today
what you were supposed to do 10 years ago

Romanians have a saying "don't let for tomorrow what you can accomplish today"... well, pffft.. I did procrastination many times and still doing...

Procrastination sends us to a place called 'someday isle'... 'someday i'll...'... but someday isle leads to nowhere

How to stop procrastination once and for all? discipline this 'habit of thought' into your mind 'i'll procrastinate on this task later, now i MUST DO the task'...

present, specific, authoritative COMMANDS given verbally, in the moment...

"I wash my car now" spoken 10-50 times while imagining you washing the car will nudge the SC to go do the action... if you say "I wash my car now" many times and are in a different place doing a different action the SC will be like "grr, master wants us to wash car, let's make it happen"

so yes, present, specific, authoritative COMMANDS given verbally (or in the mind), in the moment!

    DO IT NOW!
    DO IT NOW!
    DO IT NOW!
    DO IT NOW!
    I CAN DO THIS!

    ^ this works "
