Perfection is developed over time..

Have you ever had an experience where you work hard at something but then give up because it's not as "good" as you'd like it to be?

I get this a lot, but I'm learning how silly it really is. For me, it's been as bad as writing my goals down but because I just couldn't get the formatting right in Evernote (it didn't look pretty enough), I gave up. Stupid right?

Something we all forget about the term "perfect", is that there isn't really such a thing. There's always room for improvement and quite frankly, the world would be very boring if it was any other way.

The best way to get something as good as it can be is to just start, the momentum of doing something will make sure the product (or whatever you are doing) will get better.

That's exactly what I did, I started. I just threw a bunch of goals I needed to do into an Evernote document, even if it looked terrible and was hard to read.

Although after a week of using it, I learnt what the problems were with it and improved it. It now looks much cleaner, works better and is making sure I'm more productive.

So, what's the point of this thread?

To share what I've been learning more and more of every day for a few weeks now.

An amazing product is the result of many bad prototypes

Don't waste any more time fretting over the small things, get on with what you need to do and be done with it for today even if it could be better. You can improve it over time.

Hope someone out there gets some value from this.

I'm surprised no one has posted anything, yet. But this is a great post.
You see, we as human beings tend to hold ourselves back for many reasons.

One being fear. This one fear will also keep us from attaining the goals we want most in life.

For example: Your keynote presentation. You felt that it didn't look that great, and that feeling caused you to fear finishing because you figured other people would think likewise.

I love the tittle of this thread, too. "Perfection Is Developed Over Time"
it's true. We can't stall the momentum that we have because of one minor issue.

Gary Halbert always said: "Motion Beats Meditation" Who gives a rats a$$ if it's not what YOU want it to be. Your 100% more successful than the next guy by taking action as supposed to the 99.9% of the rest of the crowd sits and wonders.

    Great post!

I totally agree that perfection takes time and as we all know "there is no such thing as perfection". We can get close sometimes but "perfection" on its own doesn't exist. The pursuit of "perfection" is where it's at. It's the process that helps us all grow.Like the person said in the thread above "taking action" is the critical element in our development toward "perfection". Many people wait until "perfection" is achieved, and thus don't do anything because as we know perfection is "elusive and slippery". I hope we all "just do it" and over time develop the pursuit of "perfection"

So true and more often than not, the reasons why we hold back are really stupid when you break them down.

Glad you like the title! I like it too!

I've never head that quote which surprises me as it's pretty amazing. That pretty much sums up how most successful people look at work, nicely said!

Exactly, as the title says "Perfection is developed over time". You can't sit there doing nothing but waiting for everything to be perfect, you have to go out and make it happen no matter what the current situation is like.

Nike had it right "just do it" (Yes, I admit, I did steal that from another thread )

I chose entrepreneurship over further education despite being laughed at by my friends and family..

I recently hit the "RESTART" button on my life, read my personal blog to find out how I did it :)

      That's true!
If you are truly a perfectionist than it will never be perfect
It can be very close to perfect for you though and pure perfection for everyone else!
