The journey of self-development has been a struggle for me. I have been pursuing a career in internet marketing (more-so niche marketing. I love helping others) for some time and have allowed my circumstances to create excuses. Self-pity is worthless.

For the past 2 months I have been investing about an hour a day into self-development. Hard to believe how much I have improved over the past 2 months in every facet of my life:

Family - I am a much more devoted dad and husband. Investing in myself has allowed me to also invest in those around me.

Mentally - I've stopped using the word I can't and replaced it with How Can I? Sounds ridiculous, but this little trick has allowed me to catch multiple opportunities that I would have missed if I had quit.

Physically - lost 20 lbs and eating better than ever

Career - more focused and have been able to rid of negative influences in my life

However, I want to take my growth to the next level and really make this thing happen. I am reading John Maxwell's 15 Laws of Growth and yesterday read the chapter, Law of Reflection. He had many great pieces of advice, but one I saw was to find a mentor.

I thought this would be the best place to pose this question and possibly find someone or be pointed in the right direction. I want to find a mentor. I don't have a lot of money, but I will find a way to pay something if that is necessary. I want to be mentored by someone who is more successful than myself and understands what success looks like. Does anyone here know where I can find someone?

I know that may be a bold question, but I'm not sure where to start.

Thanks

That is great that you have kept up the commitment for 2 months. Its a shame that most people are interested in online success but they give up after 1 week which is a shame

You are reading books in personal development. Good for you!
Most of the people who struggle in this industry can struggle for years mainly due to not having the proper mindset.

They are looking for the secret.

Well my friend, the secret lies 'inside' you.

Too many people are looking for leaders to 'mentor' them. Sure being mentored can help in the beginning but most of the peeps looking for mentors don't usually end up listening to the mentor's instructions anyway.

I would just find a good system that provides all the 'training' and go to town - role up your sleeves and go to work. Implement what the training says.

And shape yourself into the leader that you are so desperately searching for.

If you're looking for a mentor, I would suggest either Kenster or John Thornhill.

Both have mentorship programs in the $200-$300 range (very inexpensive for mentorship from people of their influence), and both seem to be fantastic programs. ^-^

Closed for the next months, sorry. But thanks for the shoutout Cheryl!

John knows his stuff and I've heard great things about his programs so check him out for sure!

  • Hey guys thanks for the replies.

Honestly I have been working within this industry for about 2 years, but never devoted enough time to it to really become effective. In the 2 months I have devoted time to it I have saw increases on all my websites and in the process of developing an ebook.

In a sense I have a "mentor" in that every day I devote an hour to listening to podcasts or reading blogs of other online entrepreneurs in my industry. I want to hear what worked for them and see if the same principles apply to me. A lot of the guys I listen to right now are Pat Flynn, John Lee Dumas, and a few others who are similar.

However, I'd like to take a class or get some coaching. I looked into Yaro's Blog Mastermind which I have heard great reviews on, but it is no longer available so I needed to search for other options.

Warriors, what books do you suggest that really helped develop your skill set? I am currently reading two books, 15 Laws of Growth by John Maxwell (Personal Development) and Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook by Gary Vaynerchuck. Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook is giving me a good idea how to use the different social media platforms.

@ caj, thanks for your recommendations. I will look them up.

When you intentionally take the time to reflect, go into the reflection time with purpose. When we go into the reflection period with and expected outcome, the chances of success are much more likely
