New Year's Resolution: Then And Now

The ancient Babylonians began the practice by making promises to their gods to return borrowed objects and pay back debts. (Wikipedia)

Today the practice has morphed into a self improvement tool to improve ones circumstances by deleting a bad habit or adopting some new good behavior for one's benefit advancing into the new year.

Do you partake of this practice annually? What good or bad thing do you intend to deal with in 2014?

Making new years resolutions is a good thing for motivation. The effectiveness is in being able to follow them. Writing them on paper and putting them in a place where you can see them often is recommended. However, when months start progressing and you have not accomplished many of them, it can be a DE-motivator for you.

What should your New year resolutions be made of?
This will depend on your Goals in Life - is it a happy relationship? improved social life? Is it traveling? or business growth? . And these will change every year.
As for me, this next year (2014), I will look at growing my online business even more, increased subscribers, adsense and amazon real estates and of course a continued happy relationship with wife and family

I do write things that I need to do in new year. Sometimes the tasks are fulfilled and sometimes doesn't...
I have lots of plans for 2014. I will be starting new projects and I am also looking to start coaching in my niche. Lets see how it goes.

  Good resolutions and plans, . . . all. We are simply all so different with separate approaches and wondrous desires. It all makes for an absolutely remarkable, unbelievably complex new year in 2014. Good luck to everyone in what ever they choose to focus on.

I never really made New Year's Resolutions most of my life, since I never really saw the point. If I had a goal I wanted to pursue I would start as soon as possible. Most of my goals from the previous year spill into the next anyways, so New Year's is really just a time for me to reflect, and possibly recalibrate.
